Suzuki is our best player. Toronto has several players that are better than him. We are slower and less talented. Worst is the leafs are working harder and are more motivated. We need to accept reality and work on our strengths which are physical and intimidation. We can play a broad street bully style for the fans and confidence. Our young drafted players are not as good as advertised. Waiting on Slav and Rien will not lead to a cup. MSL is a lost confused inexperienced coach who doesn’t know what to do or get his message across or what his message is. We are on a slow boat to mediocrity and not there yet. Our expectations are unrealistic.

Suze has played himself off Team Canada. for a guy who publicly stated he would do anything, and would play any role to be on TC, he sure has stunk the joint out.

For a leafs game they sure came out flat, that's pretty bad, gally showed up to play that's about it

Slaf has been so disappointing given his improvement last year. Completely invisible tonight. Yes, it is on him to skate and compete. But career fourth liner, Jake Evans, is his center. So I would probably not read too much into the slump the poor kid finds himself in. Until Slafkovsky's injury, he was playing decent hockey on the first line. Then he got relegated. I would ask why is Dach on the first line for three weeks, producing next to nothing. Slaf was usually driving that 1st line. Take him off it and Suze and Caufield suffer. I was hoping Dach would drive that second line but that has not happened. Hoping Laine and Dach will gel and give the Habs a solid 2nd line.

Something very wrong with this team. Started watching the first period and just shut it off...and the midfle finger DELETE button was struck. We're straight back to a team that wont fight to win. When i saw a bench shot after the first goal, it was as bland as "ho hum" can get. Probably going to cancel RDS. I won't pay a wooden nickel for this team...on principle. At least I'll get two AHL games next week and get to see some of our future.

I've never been a big fan of having your most talented players as captains. Captains have a lot of responsibilities that take away from the focus on the game. Instead of attending a workout, you have to represent the team at some event where perogies and chocolate cheesecake are served. Or you have to go to a golf tournament, etc. etc. I'd much rather have Brendan Gallagher as captain. He would represent the team in an excellent manner, and if his performance falls off as a result, it won't dramatically affect the team. The C and leadership don't have to go hand in hand. Matthews is another example of a guy whose production has been affected by other duties (perhaps). Anyway, that may not be the problem, but it's my philosophy to allow the talent on the team to avoid distraction.

I hate all the rah rah stuff that goes on before a game and I rarely join in (but always pretend to do so ). I think Marty is very much like that too. Having said how I feel about that stuff, there's far more athletes who need the rah rah to get them up and raring to go. What are the Habs like in that regard? Suzuki is not emotional and he's the captain. Do the Habs have a guy who ramps everyone up in the hallway before the game? Just a thought.

So it would be a lame excuse this year It just a lack of confidence because every play he makes, Dach effs it up
