This is as bad as the 35+ pages Leafs fans had on Hoglund over at Fanhome....only difference:they have stayed on topic!

Why? If he was still habs property he'd be in Hamilton. What's the difference? For all we know he could be adjusting to the AHL faster than Komisarek. The only thing that'll "prove" Savard right will be if Dyment never cracks the Wild lineup for more than a few games at a time over the next two years.

How about a blockbuster trade of Traverse for Dyment? It would immediately improve our defense, even if we leave Dyment in the mionors.

I was really expecting Savard to trade Hackett for Dyment. What a great post that would have made. Dyment would get us more than two goals a year.

Petrov, a small ageing veteran who never has and never will set the league on fire with a 30 goal season and never impressed as a defensive forward or power forward. Audette, a thirtysomething whose best years are behind him. He wouldn't be a big guy on a midget B team. Dackell, did I mention ageing and slowing down. He scores fewer goals than a fullback on a soccer team. Odjick, an ageing veteran with limited skills who fights like Tyson's mother and is almost out of a job without a replacement. He did play well considering his limited skills and talent. Chow, a player who couldn't score 25 goals with Yashin feeding him, and he won't have a Yashin this year. His production is going down as his age goes up. Yes, a player has to impress to make the team, but this isn't exactly a herculean task. You don't have to beat out Steve Shutt, Houle, Lafleur, Richard, Moore, Geoffreon, Beliveau, Lemaire, or Mahovlich. The thread is alive. How come all the HabsRUS team saw this a year before Savard did?

No. I didn't bring the thread back up. It was sitting right there on the main page. Somebody must have edited a message or somebody else had to have bumped it.

does Matt get a 10 day ban for bringing the thread back up? Back from vacation and here is the Dyment thread! It doesn't get any better than this. Maybe now we can get him back. Maybe he can do for the Hab's what he did for the Wild. Maybe I'll win the lottery.

Maybe I'll win the lottery. Bring back the Dyment thread. It's part of HabsRUS hockey lore, tradition, the torch passed down from generation to generation. Dyment, Beauchemin, Hudler and Bernier! Return them to their rightful place on the board.

And so the second longest thread on HabsRus finds its legs once more. Finally the thread actually discusses Dyment. He's still 24, 6'3" and with a little coaching anc ice time he could become another Patrick Traverse. They gave Chouinard lots of chances. Bring back Miiko Hyytia, same draft year as Chris.

You "ignore" the playoffs for player evaluation? When the stakes are highest and the competition the toughest? Okay.... "Other defencemen"? What other defencemen? Komisarek is two years away, in all likelihood. Traverse will eithr be picked up on waivers or thrown in to some deal, or boughty out. He is not a big problem. If Hainsey flys and markov develops, where's the problem? You move Dykhuis, or Quintal. No matter what you say, these guys can play in the NHL (dykhuis was +16 for God's sake) and can be moved. Since when is it a problem to have 8 blueliners who can play in the NHL? Since when is it a problem not to have to rely on a guy like Hainsey playing 20 minutes a night at age 22? Since when is it a problem to rely on a guy like Hainsey? In the absence of real news?

This thread was started over 2 years ago. The following threads are no more than a few months old; "Kovalev sweepstakes" 261 replies and 5416 views ("The Blazin' Bozo Show" does exert a morbid fascination) tops this one in both categories, though the Purity Police would tag it for driving on the wrong side of the road on occasion. Number one contender is the sticky "CBA discussions" with 330 and 1945. The latter number seems abnormally low and is probably a reflection of the board's quirk of randomly resetting the view count on a thread from time to time. I suspect that this thread may actually be the all-time leader. Coming up fast due to Skilly's didligence is "Ryder, will he hit the ice?" at 190 and 2647.
