You guys are going to kill me. I'm hoping Savard takes Hudler. You can never have too many smurfs. Seriously, this kid's skill may be worth it.

tsn says:A very good skater with a long smooth stride … impressive acceleration and can carry the puck at top-end speed … an intelligent player and creative playmaker … has very good hockey sense and sees the ice well … a confident and cool player who works well in pressure situations … has an excellent shot with a quick release ... possesses strong puck-handling and passing skills … a natural scorer who displays good patience with the puck … a good competitor and a team leader … plays with an aggressive edge and is strong along the boards and in the corners … can deliver the big body check … will sacrifice himself to make the play

sounds good, but isn't he 5'10 or something?
Why all these smurfs/softies?
I am really pissed at the Czerkawski deal. The guy has been on a bunch of teams already and he is essentially another Berezin. We have too many players like that. Asham is no huge loss, it's just we have too many Czerkawski's already!

AND MARIUSZ CZERKAWSKI?? ANOTHER BEREZIN! I dunno, I've kinda been hyping Czerkawski for a couple of years. I even hoped there was some way to pick him a couple of years ago. I liked Asham, but he just never seemed to have a place with the team. I wish him luck on the Isle. I do seem to have the feeling this trade will be panned widely, but I'm happy for now.

I guess all of us Asham fans are going to have to start cheering for the Islanders. Quote from MT "We need some guys who can score the puck". Yeesh, even being lenient as far as a second language goes, that's pretty pathetic. The beat goes on, guys. How long before Hainsey and Hossa get traded? I predict Asham will score more goals next year than Czerkawski. Don't like that deal.

You know, I'm kinda disappointed that we had to move Ashram, but Czerkawski is still... well, what we need.
He's a goal scorer. He might be defensivly inept, but you know something, with Theo in net, Komi and Hainsey coming down the pike maybe a defensive forward is not what we need.
He had 51 points. Our leading scorer had but 56.
A lateral trade, if anything.
Does anyone have any insight on this Higgins kid? He's bright (obviously... a Yale man? Scary) and smallish.... but I confess that I haven't had a whole lot of time to keep up with the NHL and the junior leagues...

I like the Polish Prince, he's a good skater and he can score, Asham wasn't going to score for us. Ward or Darby can replace what Asham brought to the table.Czerkawski is a good player

On the other hand, Mariusz is a two-time 30 goal scorer, in addition to 3 more 20 goals seasons, and has only missed 7 games in the last 4 years, with none at all in the last two.

Higgins - 5'11" 192 lbs. Scored14 goals, 31 points in 27 games for Yale, who play in ECAC, a weaker college division than WCHA or Komi's league. He also scored 6 points in 7 games at WJC. One quote is that he's dangerous with the puck when he has it and when he doesn't, he'll do anything he can to get it. One point is that he was Yale's best player by far, so he was keyed on by the opposition and still produced. Could be worse. He's not a smurf, but I sure hated missing out on Hudler. When is our 2nd round pick?
