I'm a Rogers subscriber just north of the GTA. I have TVA sports but I don't know if it's part of my regular package or it is there because I bought a French language package that includes RDS. Will have to call Rogers I guess. Rogers has a habit of dropping channels of your lineup without warning. Imagine, listening to the Habs on Sportsnet with all the Leafs fanatics (Kypreos and company). We think HNIC was bad ? Wait for Sportsnet and City TV. I hope they are better than cherry stock and maclean. Kypreos is a buddy of pk. Pk challenged the head of rogers sports to the ice bucket challenge so pk must know him,pk worked for sportsnet during the lockout and Strombo is a huge habs fan.

I am with Bell TV TVA Sports came with the French package I was subscribing to in order to get RDS. It was 15$/month. I thought Rogers was bad. They are charging me $7.00 for the French language package.

I have to subscribe to the NHL package on Direct TV to see all HABS games, but believe it or not, the only games I can’t see is when the HABS come to play the Panthers. They are doing so bad that all their games are blocked out. Of course I could take a drive down Alligator Ally but it’s not worth it. I do go to Tampa to see the HABS when they come down.

"The agreement also guarantees there will be no further regionalization of games or local blackouts. Rogers has three exclusive windows to broadcast any game involving a Canadian team -- Wednesday nights, Saturday nights and Sunday nights. Fans will have the ability to watch any of those games regardless of geographical location within Canada." So what exactly does this mean then? Bunch of double talk? It's in this article. www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=693152

Heard there's a channel that will broadcast ALL 82 of the Panthers games. Must have cost them a big $20.

I am certain, nee, not only certain, but beyond certain into the hollowed ground of uber certainty that Rogers and Habs are negotiating for the best interest of the fans. It's all for the fans. The new deal between rogers and the NHL was so that the FANS get more Hockey. They never said you would get more of the Hockey YOU want. This new deal doesn't change much for me. I live in Montreal. I just have to call Videotron and cancel my subscribtion to one of my kids' channels and replace it with TVA SPORT. I AM angry at the way Habs fans lost their french broadcast. It's unfair.

For what its worth, the Habs and Rodgers are working on a deal, Rodgers wants all 82 games, Habs are wanting to split it up between TSN and Sportsnet.

I'm thinking that maybe I'll hold off on cancelling my "french sports package" with Rogers. If negotiations are successful - perhaps they'll lift the blackout on RDS? I'm so confused.

Quite upset about that. I will miss RDS. Imagine, listening to the Habs on Sportsnet with all the Leafs fanatics (Kypreos and company). We think HNIC was bad ? Wait for Sportsnet and City TV. Good info ref TVA ... I'll be watching the progress with Rogers but if it doesn't pan out, I'll be cancelling it ... you're right about the Sportsnet cast ... Cheers.

I am still confused..... And since you seem to understand better what is going on, I must ask: For us here in the GTA: - we are assured of 32 games in English with either SN, HNIC, or City TV... Right? - there is a possibility that we might get also in English the other 50 games(Either TSN or SN/City or a combination)? And if TSN, would there be also a blackout West of Kingston as with RDS (TSN HABS was blacked out in GTA). Sorry, apparently, I am a little slow !

Sorry, apparently, I am a little slow ! sorry, i can't tell you any more than has already been posted. and it isn't that you're slow, it's that (I'm constantly told) negotiations continue. 32 games national on SN and affiliates. I thought that TSN still had the rights to the other English games and that RDS had some or most of the French games . . . but it is still going around in circles as they fight out for the biggest slice of the pie (as was suggested earlier, "on behalf of the fans" ) lots of possibilities . . . and remember that each NHL team used to have area exclusivity, which is why Habs games aren't shown in Leaf-land and Leaf games (why would you want them anyway) aren't shown in (say) Ottawa. Rogers/SN know that there are a lot of Habs fans west of Kingston and seem to be trying to extend the coverage area. but ya gotta stay turned for the final decision to be made . . . soon. frustrating as all get-out . . . but not so for those of us who live in Steven-Justin-and-Thomasland.

The Habs know this and they are trying to milk every penny they can from Rogers for broadcast rights. please note that I am not saying it's all the Habs fault and that Rogers is on the poor consumer's side. they also want to milk every penny that they can, and the less they pay for broadcast rights the more goes into their coffers.

rest assured that RDS WILL have 60 regional Habs games. The other 22 will be on TVA Sport, so will the playoffs. That's all in french. As for the english broadcast, (thought bubble) If I carry the 2, Substract the one, follow B.E.D.M.A.S....I'm lost. Watch sportscenter for the highlights.

So by living in Ontario ( west of Belleville) I get screwed out of 50 games. I go from 82 games to 32( no that's 31 because I don't have Sportsnet 360 ). I have TVA sports on my Rogers package but it doesn't look worth it - I am assuming the 21 Saturday games on TVA are the same 21 games on HNIC. It looks like the only way I get every game is by dropping RDS & getting Centre Ice. It's a cash grab by Rogers.

Yes, that much I understand Doc, But like JKR, it's the 50 other games that us, WEST of Belleville, are concerned about and that seem to be still in negotiations like Franco suggested. Another 6 weeks and we will get our answer. But it will likely involve more $$ for us

I said cash grab because at first glance at rogers.com it looks like Centre Ice is part of something called a Super Sports Pak at $36.00/month. Too much. Can it it be purchased separately?

No good will come out of Roger$ right$. EVER. I had RDS at $7 per month and I'm okay with that, but they can kiss my big fat derrier if they think I'm paying $36 a month. Worse still, I'm in the habit of recording games and if they stink up the joint......delete button is my friend! I'm certainly not going to do that for $36 a month. Don't expect much......

It's a cash grab by Rogers. Guess Rogers has to figure out a way to make a profit on the $5.232 billion they've spent ... I'm in Kingston and I never really understood why a town like Napanee, ON, (in between Kingston/Belleville) would get RDS as part of their normal cable package, while I have to spend $7/month to get it when I'm closer to Montreal than they are ... I'm going to wait for the final map to present itself and go from there ... however, it can't stop Rogers from re-bundling their packages, anyway ... once they realize they can break up 82 games over several different packages, forcing you to fork out more $, they'll do it ... might also look at increasing my bandwidth and watching the games online, but I'll wait to see what comes up first ... Cheers.
