Many were fearing this series.
Many say, "Bring it on!"
Still making up my mind.

We'll see if they can win a series without kicking the puck in and/or taking out Price.

There's no other way to approach this series ... the Habs went out and won the division knowing they'd play the Senators who have been the best team in the league since Hammond's emergence ... hoping for a classic series with les good guys winning in six games ...
Cheers.

Need to bury chances in the first two games. Hammond has been great but the playoffs are new experience. Is he Patrick Roy? I doubt it.
Montreal in 5.

I'm going out on a limb and taking the Habs in 5. I think the bubble bursts for the Sens when the real hockey starts.

I don't know, guys ... the Senators are clicking everywhere ... they've got a hungry team and they're just plowing through the opposition ... the best team in the league since Hammond's arrival ... we can take them down but it will take all hands on deck to do this ... I said six games ... could be seven, but I do believe they can be had ...
Cheers.

I hope Bell continues to carry the games in the French package.
If I get only the Rogers' broadcasts, they will be muted.
It'll be bad enough watching the refs favour the Sens....because you know they will.
The Habs have a bad rep, don't you know....

Hmmm, I am guessing the Habs coverage in Reykjavic for a few games this series will not be good.

I can't see us winning this. Not feeling great. Of course, I'd love to be wrong.

Besides hitting him at every opportunity, what strategy do you take with Karlsson?
That guy is capable of doing us in.

Gotta catch Karlsson to hit him, but if you angle him and press him he's prone to mistakes. He takes a lot more gambles than Subban, even when last man back. I have concerns about Ottawa's press game. They play big. Add in the confidence they're playing with, and they'll be tough. Very tough. Dress a plug and have him "Kreider" Hammond.

Besides hitting him at every opportunity, what strategy do you take with Karlsson? That guy is capable of doing us in. With Orr, one strategy was to throw it into his corner, make him get the puck, body him and hope he's tired by the end of the game. You really can't stop good players, but you can wear them out a bit. Just get in his way all the time. You have to prevent the give and go and bumping him will do that. You should do that with every player, not just the good ones. And nail Pageau every chance we get. If I'm Eller, I've got my head up waiting for Gryba to make the same play he's done before (head-hunting) and then he either eats my stick or my elbow pad. I'd get a penalty for sure, but you rarely get suspended for defending yourself. It would discourage Gryba from doing that again. I suspect Gryba's made Eller his personal project for some reason. Lars has to defend himself without getting into a fight. Karlsson, Pageau and get people in front of the Swiss Cheese burger. My recipe.

I predicted Sens in 7.
No, haven't gone over to the dark side. Just think the Sens have the Habs number this season. Hope I'm wrong.

Forget about the puck, just hit him hard. I remember a shift when Brashear hit Kariya 3 times in the Blues zone (as I recall) and the colour guy was saying how Kariya was going to be winded for the rest of the period.

I voted Habs in 6. We're still the top team from our division and all.
That being said, it won't be a walk in the park.
Now we get to see if the tinkering Bergevin has done over the past 2 seasons will be worth it. At the time we could see we needed size and toughness.... have we gotten enough ?
Will Mitchell, DSP, Beaulieu, Pateryn, DLR, Petry and Weise (and other additions) be better than Bouillon, Gionta, Bourque, Diaz, White, Gorges and Ryder (and other departed) ?

Trouble is none, or all, of those guys will make up for Pacioretty if unavailable or even if he plays hurt. I see that I am still maintaining my 'lead' on the negative side.....

Just some notes.
SEASON SERIES: Ottawa 3-1.
1st meeting, Dec. 20. Habs 4-1. Price. 2nd meeting, Jan. 15. Sens 4-1. Tokarski. 3rd meeting, Feb. 18. Sens 4-1. Tokarski. Hammond's 1st game.. 4th meeting, Mar. 12. Sens 5-2. Price. We got a 2-0 early lead on Hammond, then completely backed off and fell apart.
HEAT Sens: 21-3-3 down the stretch since Hammond took over. The best in the league. 45 of a possible 54 pts. .833 hockey. Habs: 14-7-6 in the same stretch....but after the trade deadline: 9-6-5. .575 hockey.
Last 10 games: Habs 5-2-3. Sens 6-2-2.
OFFICIATING The officials definitely have a book on us and that bias will do nothing but fuel the Ottawa momentum.
MAX Will he be at 100%? He'll certainly be rocked at every opportunity.
PREDICTION Sens in 6. Unless Price steals it.
Question to our members in the Ottawa area: Has anyone in the local media used the term "SENderella" yet?

Question to our members in the Ottawa area: Has anyone in the local media used the term "SENderella" yet? haven't heard it yet -- you should TM it SENSational is the usual word. read a tweet the other day suggesting that anyone who asks 'who is Canada's team" should be censured (or would that be SENSured).

I've got Habs in 6. Max-dependent.
with 17 . . . I worry about Pageau.
and boy do I want to see PK out-play Karlsson and end the "he should win the Norris" debate.
ugh . . . my anti-Sen bile meter is going through the roof.

I'm hoping the guys won't back off when the sens start hitting, like in the regular season. It's the playoffs. You can't save yourself for the next day, there might not be one.
The refs are going to be an issue, they hate us.
We'll see I guess. If the guys bring it, we can kick their butts.

I'm hoping the guys won't back off when the sens start hitting, like in the regular season. Flynn, Mitchell, Smith-Pelly . . . isn't that why these guys are here? they'd better do what we got them for or we'll be in trouble. and Gally needs to keep up in front of the net. if they are going to call goals back so be it, but if there is no net presence there will be no goals.

Too bad the Habs won't be facing the overrated Bruins and their far from invincible goaltender. On the other hand, the Bruins' collapse might instill some humility in their fans. Now it's time for the genius Therrien to devise some newe tactics to use against teh Sens and their new star goaltender.

Watching so highlights from 2013, what strikes me most is how our team... A) hasn't changed much in terms of key players. Our top 6 is essentially the same, as well as our top-2 D, with maybe Parenteau taking over from Gionta. and B) Had very little depth back then. Diaz, Tinordi getting playoff icetime. I wonder if maybe it's the memory of playing these guys (Tinordi isn't ready now and clearly wasn't then) that makes Bergevin want to keep the 9 D we currently have, and made him go and get Petry instead of adding to the forwards.
I guess I'm saying our top-6 forwards and top-2 hasn't changed (other than ageing for Markov, or more development, from Galchenyuk and Gallagher), but I think Weise, DLR, DSP, Petry, Beaulieu, Mitchell and Pateryn should be better than their counterparts from 2 years ago.

....and boy do I want to see PK out-play Karlsson and end the "he should win the Norris" debate. Won't happen. Karlsson is flashier offensively, but PK is better on the PK and as a 2-way player, which isn't what fans notice, moreso opposing fans. They'll see PK's offense but won't see his 30 minutes a night playing soundly (other than the occasionnal showboating) on actual defense.
