The information we were interested in was provided by montreal And I'll say no more. It'd be off topic and not very nice to a clever guy Larmar.

Thanks, Tattac, I can't believe I missed that. actually, I didn't miss it, I just didn't make a connection between the two. I guess they let him join the Belarus training camp.

Maybe Tikhonov got angry or something, because Kat played with CSKA - 2 two days later. As usual, he lit it up in the Upper League, with a goal and 2 assists (3 points) in a 7-0 whitewash... Been a while since I checked on Kostistyin...
Anyways, still playing with CSKA-2, had two more goals yesterday, including the game winner in overtime...
He really does seem to light it up down there. CSKA-1 appears just about out of the playoffs, so I wonder what effect that will have on Andrei - will they call him up for a real good looksee, or will they leave him down, for a playoff run?

Two more goals for Kostitsyin, as well as two more penalties. Still with CSKA-2.
Incidentally, CSKA-1 got hammered 7-1. Seems Sergei Berezin isn’t helping them anymore than he helped us…

Another goal for Kostitsyin today, and 2 more penalty minutes.
This one is actually kind of disappointing, as Andrei was only able to get 1 point, even though his team scored 10 goals (10-6 final score - was it a freaking All Star Game??).

Ho-hum, another game, another goal...
(what? nobody else wants to fake knowing Russian??)
Russians don't seem to be big on stats, as I find it very difficult to find any team or league stats anywhere...

Kats being so far away and in a league that isn't well covered at least keeps our expectations lower. Well, everyone else's expectations. I still expect him to be a 40 goal, 90-100 point man. A neo Rocket.

Thanks Rimmer, but I could only find Super League stats there. The Upper League stats don't seem to be updated... Unless I am missing something? I thought you wanted the Super league stats. my bad. I'm not really sure that what you're really looking for is the Upper league (see www.eurohockey.net/ru/). From what I know, CSKA-2 is a junior team that plays in the first junior league and the only info I have found on that is from CSKA website. you can also look at Kastitsyn's profile at www.russianprospects.com. I'm not sure how often they update their stats but it says that Andrei has 11g and 8a with 8 penalty minutes in 14 games played so far. R.

I think the first junior league is called the Upper League...
Anyways, the Hockey's Future's stats haven't been updated in quite some time. Before Christmas, I think...
Just from what I remember looking up each game, I would guess that Kat probably has about a goal per game, and maybe 1.5 points per game. 22 goals, 12 assists in 23 games, or something like that (purely made up numbers, not to be used for anything)...

I think the first junior league is called the Upper League... I'm not sure. I thought that Upper or High league is in fact the Vysshaya Liga which is like a second division (actually, there are two of them, East and West) from which teams are promoted to the Super league (and demoted from Super league to Vysshaya East or West). I could have been misled by it's name ( Vysshaya) which sounds very similar to the croatian word viša (visha) meaning higher, upper. I hope Tattac will shed some light on this mystery R.

Sorry Rimmer, I did not mean “junior” as in 16-19 year olds, I meant junior as in “minor league team.” As in the AHL to the NHL.
NHL = Super League AHL = Upper League (what we are referring to as “junior”)
CSKA-2 is in fact the “junior/minor league/AHL team” of CSKA, and it does have players older than “junior-aged” on it. While I can find their roster, and game summaries, and even CSKA-2 standings, I can’t find any player statistics…

I was away for a couple of weeks. If you guys still care I can explain this thing with Russian hockey leagues.
It is the Superleague, Upper (higher or vysshaya) League and then First (pervaya) league and some others. As you know CSKA plays in the Superleague. CSKA-2 plays in the First league, which is one step lower than the Upper League.

I can confirm only that I've read the same thing on several different boards and that Andrei wasn't playing in the last few CSKA nor CSKA-2 games.

I don't know why this guy is considered our best prospect. His record is always sketchy; six games played for one team, next year five for another. He flashes talent, but the coaches don't play him. Go figure. Balej was leading the AHL in scoring and improving significantly year to year.

It looks like Yunost Minsk has won the Belarus Championship Final in 3 games over Keramin/Minsk. I am unable to tell if Kastsitsyn played in any of the 10 playoff games for Yunost since he left CSKA. If anyone has any further info, I'd love to hear about it. If anyone knows someone who can translate the Belarus IHF website and post some info it would be appreciated. www.bihf.org

some updated info on Kastsitsyn........ From reading almost gibberish translations on www.pressball.by, the site does provide boxscores a few days after the fact. Here is what I can piece together on Kastsitsyn: (Kostitsyn in the translated articles of his home country.) In all he played in 6 playoff games for Yunost Minsk while scoring 8 points. (4 G, 4 A, 14 PIM). Kastsitsyn joins Younst Minisk for Game #3 of the Belarus Championship Semi - Final matchup versus HK Gomel. Best of 5 series tied 1-1. March 16, 2003 Game #3 HK Gomel 3 Yunost Minsk 0 (Gomel leads best of 5 semi final 2:1) Kastsitsyn's first game with Yunost Minisk since leaving CSKA. No points but 4 PIM. Kastsityn's brother plays on HK Gomel. March 17, 2003 Game #4 Yunost Minsk 5 HK Gomel 1 (Best of 5 semi final 2:2) Kastsitsyn is 1st star, recording 2 goals, 1 assist and 4 PIM. March 19, 2004 Game #5 Yunost Minsk 5 HK Gomel 4 (Yunost Minsk wins best of 5 semi final 3:2) Kastsitsyn is 1st star again recording 1 goal and 3 assists. Minsk was behind 4:1 in the 3rd period. March 22, 2004 Game #1 Belarus Championship Final Yunost Minsk 4 Keramin 3 (Yunost Minsk leads best of 5 finals 1:0) No points. March 23, 2004 Game # 2 Belarus Championship Final Yunost Minsk 2 Keramin 0 (Yunost Minsk leads best of 5 finals 2:0) No points, 4 PIM. March 26, 2004 Game #3 Belarus Championship Final Yunost Minsk 2 Keramin 1 (Yunost Minsk wins best of 5 finals 3:0) Kastsitsyn is 2nd star, recording 1 goal and 2 PIM. Eventually, his total stats will be posted for his time in the Belarus Championship League. Hopefully, my #'s match what I could decipher. Bossy22

Got some more info. Joni Puurula's team HPK has been knocked out of the playoffs, swept by TPS (Mikko Koivu's team). I don't have the recent stats, but going into this series Puurula had great numbers, although losing a few games will bring his numbers down I don't know by how much. I'll look it up later.
Christopher Heino-Lindberg was recalled back to his team Hammerby after playing for Vallentuna the worst team in the tier-2 league where he faced a ton of shots every game but the team had something like 3 wins all season. (he was on loan to Vallentuna) He first played for the J-20 Hammerby team, but is now with Hammerby who are still in the Kvalserien (top 2 teams move up to the SEL next year, but it's not looking good for Hammerby) Johan Eneqvist also plays for Hammerby, but hasn't been able to produce much so far in Kvalserien.
Also Lindberg should be getting a look for next year's WJC's but most likely as a backup if he has a good year.
In Russia, both Korneev and Buturlin's team lost in the semifinals. Ak Bars (Korneev) lost to Vadim Tarasov's team to go on to the finals. The lost the series 3-1, Korneev 1 assist in 8 games.
Buturlin's team Lada got swept to Omsk (perezhogin's team last year) who got to the finals as well. Buturlin had 1 assist as well.

Andrei Kastsitsyn is currently playing for his national team in the Division I World championship in Oslo, Norway. Andrei also led his team with 7 shots on goal and was +4 with 0 PIM. their biggest rival for the promotion will be the hosts, Norway. they play each other on the last day of the championship. that's all for now. you can follow the scores on www.iihf.com/hydra/tournaments/output/WSIA/R.
