Barrie seems to be the stumbling block for sure.I wonder if it was him that leaked the names in January to scuttle the trade & not Lawton? I wonder if he doesn't like the offer or is opposed to trading VL for anything. After their last two disasters - the Boyle & Richards trades - maybe Barrie feels they should stop now before they preside over the complete destruction of the hockey team. This is a classic case of the tail wagging the dog. Gainey holds off on important UFA talks because he thinks he can get a deal done with these clowns. Now he has just days to complete important business.

Interesting thoughts from this blogger ( that I am starting to really like) - especially his interview with Randy Sexton of Florida whose comments indicate that Lawton was being less than truthful. Sexton also sounds pretty ticked about the price paid for Pronger. Worth a read all the way through. dailyhab-it.blogspot.com/

Now he has just days to complete important business. If the rumours of Marleau are true, he may be moving on. Perhaps Bob has said enough is enough. We tried to make a deal happen at the draft, and it didn't. Let's move on to someone else on our list and try. If it works out, great. If it doesn't, maybe the Bolts come back to us before the start of the next season.
