The next two CHL Friday Night Hockey games on Sportsnet will feature Habs prospects.
This Friday, the 15th, has Brady Vail and the Windsor Spitfires are up against the Gally-less Sarnia Sting. That was the dream OHL televised matchup that I was hoping for before the lockout ended.
Next Friday, the 22nd, we have Tim Bozon and Kamloops battling Vancouver, who are also another post-Gally team as their previous captain is still sticking around with the Habs these days. Pretty good first pro season for the kid.

A few of our young lads had some decent games last night, including our duo of forwards in the Q. Charles Hudon snapped a scoreless streak in fashion with a four point night, netting two goals (#26 and 27) and two assists. Olivier Archambault seems to be making a much better case for a contract this summer, getting his 23rd goal if the season along with two helpers. Out west, the Saskatoon Blades keep rolling and are finally looking like worthy Memorial Cup hosts, as Darren Dietz scored his 16th from the blueline in their win last night. They have now taken over their division lead. Tim Bozon scored his 32 of the year in Kamloops' victory. He has already surpassed his assist and point totals from last year, and is zoning in on bettering his 36 goals from his rookie season. Across the pond, Pribyl had an assist in his Czech league game. He has size and skill, but very slow feet. He will be another one to watch to see if the Habs offer him a contract. I would and get him with a skating coach asap! Highlights of Hudon's four point night. He is #10 in white. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi-OsRB5L8Y&feature=player_embedded

Tim Bozon and the Blazers are on TV tonight on most Sportsnet channels. That's the good news. The game is in BC so the game start is 7:30 PT, which is a very late start for folks out east.

Friday night NWT. I will probably catch the first period before I dose off. thanks for the update. I'd like to see him play. - never have before. I'll be watching my Mooseheads before that. Drouin on a tear - 6 points from the lead in scoring. Over 2 points per game. Imagine if he played the full schedule.

Some videos of a couple of three point nights this week. Saskatoon defender Darren Dietz had three helpers on Wednesday night. Don't look now but the Blades are on a wonderful tear. Dietz is #44 in white. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU1clb-7dc4Drummondville's Olivier Archambault had a goal and two assists last night. He is #9 in red. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9o6hIQeUZw

Danny Kristo just kept his good season gong, getting another pair of games with a goal and an assist. That now puts him in third in NCAA scoring and second in goals. His teammate and fellow Hab prospect Mark MacMillan broke a scoring slump with a three point night. Charles Hudon keeps on producing, with a goal and an assist in a winning cause. Saskatoon keeps its franchise record winning streak alive at 15, and both Dietz and Thrower contributed with a goal and an assist. Here are the UND highlights (they are long!). Kristo is #7 and MacMillan is #16 in green. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYwhj8y1Gv0&feature=youtu.be

Thursday night saw a head to head battle between our two Q prospects, as Chicoutimi took on Drummondville. Olivier Archambault emerged with big time bragging rights as the Volts won 6-0 and he had a four point night with two goals and two assists. Archambault is #9 in white. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFK-yeJgakY&feature=player_embedded

After being forced into action on defense (in 10 of the past 11 games) due to a blueline decimated with injuries, Brady Vail was able to return to centre on Thursday night and ended the evening with three points: a goal and two assists. Brady is #97 in red. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ralrTVww3CgCharles Hudon set a new career high for points in the Q with a big offensive night tonight. He had a goal and three helpers. Hudon is #10 in blue. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0d20d0LbuQ

22 year old Swedish defensive prospect Magnus Nygren just added an award to his already impressive season, as he was named this year's recipient of the Borje Salming award as top Swedish defender in the SEL.
It will be interesting to see what the Habs will do with him. According to Matias Brunet's blog today, the team is interested in signing him to an entry level deal. Given his great year offensively and the fact that he must be signed by this summer, this only makes sense. He recently signed a one year extension with Farjestads, so if the Habs were to get him under contract they could either leave him in the SEL for one more season or else work out a deal with his Swedish club. Playing another year in a good league like the SEL is not a bad option as it could be a bit crowded on the blueline in both Montreal and Hamilton next season anyway.

A Gauthier/Gainey 4th-round selection who's panning out to be a gem. Any time you can land a top d-man like him it's a good thing. Hopefully they can get him in the lineup next season. Is there any chance of getting him in Montreal for the playoffs? I ask this sincerely because the Bruins are landing a 6'3" centre, Carl Soderberg, who apparently is the real deal and who will be playing with Boston once his team's playoffs are over. Could have used that guy too, mind you. The B's got him in a trade with St Louis. Cheers.

That would help the B's without costing any assets. He would not even have to clear waivers. Yuck! Nygren is under contract this year and next with his Swedish team. If the Habs signed him and then did a deal with his Swedish club, it is possible. More than likely is they let him play out his current deal and they bring him over in 2014 fighting for a spot with the big club. He turns 23 this summer, so still lots of good prime years yet to come if his development continues on this path.

For those in western Canada with Shaw TV, Darren Dietz and the Saskatoon Blades visit E-town to play the Edmonton Oil Kings tonight. Both teams are in first place in their division and the Oil Kings have clinched their second straight conference title. Fellow prospect Dalton Thrower is day to day with a lower body injury. Figures, as I have seen the Blades twice live this year and he missed both of those games too. I have seen him on TV though, so I know he does exist!
The Blades are also on Shaw TV on Friday night too.

Wait until they add a 6'6 defenseman like Morin or Diaby to the mix!
