It's funny, you'll get scotch elitists that will only drink single malt, but I was over at my cousins and he gave me a wee dram of Johnnie Walker Blue Label and daaaammmmmnnnnn is it a smooth scotch, it rivaled the 21 yr old Aberfeldy and the 25 year Tomintoul I had tried, but at $300 CDN a bottle, it's expensive. Single-malts, eh ... Talisker 10 is my favourite ... anything in the Obin line is just fine with me, too ... Balvenie Double Wood is up there, too ... I've pretty much boycotted anything in the Johnny Walker line (both the Black and Red labels are bathwater, IMHO), but I'd like to try the Blue at some point ... as an aside, I can't remember the Kentucky Bourbon I was sipping on at HFLA's place, but that was aces, man ... by the way, my new go-to beers are Michelob Ultra and Miller Genuine Draft ... Cheers. My buddies have switched from single malt to bourbon and they love woodford reserve. Bourbon is waaay cheaper than single malt

A nice tribute to Ginger Baker by Frank Beard of "ZZ Top" ... too bad about the feud between Baker and Jack Bruce ... the mind boggles when I think of what "Cream" could have achieved had they stayed together ...

funny the things you find when you're not looking. had the LP when it first came out, bought the CD when it came out, and now it languishes in the MP3 file.

I remember when first heard "Frankenstein" and I thought it sounded more like a studio jam session than anything else ... just a great piece ... Cheers.

Fantastic performances. Thanks for posting, franko.
Rick Derringer on lead guitar. Formerly of The McCoys ("Hang on Sloopy")...AND of Edgar's brother's (Johnny) band.
While in Johnny's band, Derringer wrote "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" which they recorded in 1970.
Derringer made it a hit when he recorded his own version in 1973.

Fantastic performances. Thanks for posting, franko. call me "hopelessly mired in the 70s . . . with a side of blues". as opposed to the Habs, who are hopelessly mired in mediocrity . . . and giving me the blues.

Funny how all the 70's and 80's bands are back out and touring. So far we have tickets to go to 3 different events:
Cheap Trick and ZZ top in Halifax Def Leopard, Motley Crue, Posion and Joan Jet and the Blackhearts in Boston Kiss and David Lee Roth in Maine
It's pretty cool to get to see some of the bands you grew up listening to that you didn't have the opportunity when you were younger and poorer lol.
