Interesting when you look at the cast list. I see Avengers Star, Diana Rigg is playing Lady Olenna Redwyne. She developed a strong character but I think she met her match in Tywin Lannister. Cheers.

"The Notherners will never forget." Tyrion Lannister
For Tankdriver, HBO is running two episodes from season 3 most nights this week. The season finale is on Sunday.
Cheers.

Its ok....my little blonde girlfriend is going to kick their butts next season!! She's got the army, the ships and the dragons to do just about anything she wants. Should be interesting to see if the House of Stark will rise again. Cheers.

You have to feel for the Stark family. So who runs Winterfell now? Does it go by birth date or men first then women? Pour Sansa either way. Also I heard that in the book, Robb's wife doesn't accompany him to the wedding and theoretically gives birth to the child but is never mentioned again. I think the show wanted to close the.loop so that in the future there wouldn't be a discussion on the rightful heir for king of the north. (kinda like the dragon queen)

I think the show wanted to close the.loop so that in the future there wouldn't be a discussion on the rightful heir for king of the north. (kinda like the dragon queen) I remember Varys talking with his spy, Ros, where he mentioned that, with Rob Stark out of the way, Winterfell would go to Sansa Stark. Littlefinger knew this, too. It's why he wanted Sansa's hand, and why Tywin Lannister (the colossal prick of the series) needs Tyrion to wed her as well. The Lannisters would not only control King's Landing, but they'll also have a foothold in the north. Lannister isn't done yet, though. He ordered his daughter to marry into the House of Tyrell who are the rulers to "Kingdom of the Reach." The Tyrell's are also potential rivals to the Lannisters so why not eliminate that too? I'm interested in seeing how Tywin decides to use his son, Jamie, if and when he ever gets back. "Kingslayer" is a completely different man than he was before. It might be unsettling for Tywin. Don't know yet, though. Will be hard to top last week's episode. Caught me totally off guard. Cheers.

Gotta say, I was a little disappointed by the season finale. It was kinda slow and uneventful compared to last week
So how long do we have to wait until next season?

Kinda slow, I guess they were just cleaning up after the last show. Gotta feeling that Rob Snow will play a big part in next season.

Gotta say, I was a little disappointed by the season finale. It was kinda slow and uneventful compared to last week So how long do we have to wait until next season? I was saying earlier today that it would be hard to top last week's episode. I found the dialog really good last night, though. Great scripting. Young Joffry is learning his place with the Lannisters, who consider him in the way. "... monsters are dangerous and kings have been dropping like flies in Westeros..." Tyrion might be short in stature but he has a very large presence at court. Tyrion is probably the most personable of the Lannisters (though Jamie has a new dose of humility). Would like to see Tywin's face when he finds out from Jamie that it was Lady Stark who set Jamie free. Tywin ordered her death. Would like to see House Frey brought down. I know the Starks broke an oath, but Walder Frey is just an ignorant SOB who reminds me of an older Joffery. In return for wiping out the House of Stark, Frey will provide the northern presence until the child from Sensa and Tyrion is of age to assume the duties. Never saw that coming on Jon Snow either. Egret has quite the bow arm. I keep coming back to Tyrion, though. I like the direction this character has taken. He's bound by duty and he can back up anything he says. He started out as a gambling, whore-mongering alcoholic. However, in seasons 2 and 3 we see that he can actually be a decent man who respects women (he actually respects everyone). As Varys said, he's just a drunk now. But it was his girlfriend, Shae, who actually influenced him (as Varys points out). And what about Greyjoy? We find out now that he's being tourtured so as to pressure his father to remove his troops from the north. Only his father has written him off. Interested in seeing how his sister makes out in her quest. Cheers.

Franko might be able to tell us more, but from what I understand there has been a lot of similarities to the books in the series, but there have also been deviences from the books, too.
I've checked them out online. There are seven books and I'd like to see them come down a bit.
Cheers.

I got the books and find that I understand the tv show better and vice versa .... There are difference, as Dis pointed out ... Very minor ones so far where I'm at.

[Skilly?] I was able to find a 7-book set as well as the 5-book one. I don't know where the other two books came from or why they would have been included. Five books and six seasons. I remember reading somewhere that Peter Dinkleman signed on for six seasons. Might explain for different endings ... dunno, though. Cheers.

Tywin admits that the only reason Tyrion is alive today is because he's a Lannister. Were he anyone else Tywin would have cast him on the tide. Jamie's return is interesting. He's a completely changed person from the one we were introduced to in Season 1. Not sure how Tywin will handle that ... or how Cersei will react for that matter. I suspect things have changed there. Jon Snow made it to the wall. If the Stark kids finally meet up together things could get interesting. Cheers.

Ok. So just finished the season finale. It was a little bit of a let down. I was expecting another major death but I guess they are saving it for the premiere. I am not too sure why the kids want to go beyond the wall and did something happen to the lord who married the daughter of the fray? Also what are the 7 kingdoms? You got winterfell, kings landing, some southern ones?

I'm assuming he got out because he's still listed in the "characters living" field on the Game of Thrones wiki site ... not that the episode was conclusive Cheers.

Anybody have a map, a chart of the characters and a weather forecast?
Based on any semblance of reality....for a fantasy series, the continent has to be 5000 miles long. And how does a 700 foot ice wall stay 700 feet when we know that ice creeps under it's own weight? And those night creatures? C'mon, obsidian knives? Really? And what's up with the pecker wrecking? Do I have to watch it with a stainless steel salad bowl protecting the boys?
I'm concerned.......

I found this site, Game of Thrones Wiki to be about the best. It keeps you current with series, episode by episode, and will not give you no spoilers for future episodes (you can find those online, though). When looking up characters you can select from the following fields; "characters", "characters alive", "characters dead", or "characters uncertain". Excellent website. Cheers.

I am not too sure why the kids want to go beyond the wall That's the unanswered question. But he seems to think that his "power" makes him the only one capable of saving everyone from The Others. What we do know, is that he is going beyond the Wall in search of the three-eyed-crow. It's a great display of foreshadowing actually. Bran always loved to climb the walls of Winterfell, and now he must go beyond the Wall. This was revealed to us in the season finale. Walder Frey said to Bolton that he has Stark's uncle in his dungeon. Kingdom of the North (Winterfell - Starks) Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale (Eyrie - Arryns) Kingdom of the Isles and Rivers (Harenhall - Hoares) Kingdom of the Rock (Casterly Rock - Lannisters) Kingdom of the Stormlands (Storm's End - Durrandons) Kingdom of the Reach, (Highgarden - Gardeners) Dorne, (Sunspear - Martells) There are actually nine regions ... two other came into existence after Aegon Targaryen conquered 6 of the 7 kingdoms.

Oh man ... might not get too much work done this morning depending how this thread goes #damnyouBC ... what a series ... haven't missed an episode ... I read somewhere that this season will not be following the books and that more main characters were going to be killed off ... saw the season finale to GoT in the theatres last year ... Odeon wasn't allowed to charge admission for a TV show, so they made you buy a $10 voucher for the concession stand ... they had to open a second theatre because of the response to tickets ... completely sold out and easily the best venue to give Brienne of Tarth a huge ovation for taking out the Hound ... from what I understand Odeon Cineplex will be doing the same thing this year ... things I've learned to this point in the series; the Lannister boys are actually pretty good guys ... Daenerys Targaryen if finding out that ruling isn't all it's cracked up to be ... ditto Margaery and Loras Tyrell, and Cersei Lannister ... Brienne is the man ... she couldn't have been matched with a more perfect squire than Podrick Payne ... Petyr Baelish might be a collosal prick, but Ramsay Snow is the very definition of a whack job ... does Tommen Baratheon ever sound like his brother, Joffery ...
Cheers.
