All this talk of picks being in play, if none of the top 10 are moved today, I'll be disappointed.
And the NHL needs to get things moving, 45 minutes for 6 picks... ??

Nurse gives them toughness that they don't get with Ristolainen, at least not the fisty kind of toughness. A great pick for Edmonton. This draft is so good, though, that everyone is making a great pick.

Despite MacGuire's relentless gushing, it's a pick that makes sense for the Oilers. Plenty of skill up front. Nurse gives them something they have very little of.

I love how analysts focus on team needs, whereas just about every scout says he's after BPA.
Of course, it's relatively easy for any reporter to understand team needs, but knowing who teams like or dislike is impossible. But still, they should realize they don't know what really leads to someone being picked or not...

What irks me is MacGuire saying, "Finally, they get it. They understand what it takes to build a winner." Really Pierre? How many winners have you built from the broadcast booth? The Hawks just won the Cup. It was a team effort, but when the chips were down Toews and Kane carried them. It's about your best players being your best players and excelling. It doesn't matter what position they play.

Good trade for Vancouver, I think. I like Schneider, but I don't think he's in the same class as a younger Brodeur. Good goalie, though.

If the Oilers offered the 7th, a second rounder and a prospect and your cupboard is that bare, well Gillis made a mistake. |

Clutterbuck to Isles for Niederreiter I just mentionned that one in the draft scuttlebut thread. I don't get it. A 3d liner for a highly rated prospect. I'd have happily given the 34th pick for Neiderreiter, and I think it would be better value... |
