Guys, this is the third thread we have for the draft. I'm to blame for this as well. I totally forgot GNick99's thread when I created my own, so I'll eat this one.
I'll lock my thread and that way we'll have two active ones.

Edit: I reopened it, Skilly. It had too much momentum buds.

Love draft day, glad it's finally here, today promises to be very interesting. So many things can happen all over the league with all the buy outs, cap etc.. Really looking forward to this. Here's hoping Timmins and Bergevin can work some magic for the good guys.

I suspect it is going to be a fairly quiet draft day overall. As often happens, lots of hype, but when it comes down to actually doing something, we get a Tyler Kennedy for a fourth rounder trade. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Barkov #2. MacKenzie called it just before the pick.

First semi-surprise, Barkov goes #2, obviously a position/need pick.

I wouldn't have taken Jones if I was Florida either .... I'd select Drouin if I'm Tampa too

Gotta think #3 might be in play. Drouin just makes too much sense for Tampa.

Got to feel a bit for Jones. A month or so ago, he was ramked #1. He might go 4....

If Jones goes to #4, that's a great cornerstone to build around.

If Jones goes to #4, that's a great cornerstone to build around. Nashville will have the defense, will it translate to offense though?

If the Preds pick him, he'll have Shea Weber and Gill to be mentored by. I still see Jaybo when I watch Jones.

Will Carolina trade their pick? Drum roll.
Nope, they're picking.

Here's hoping I'm wrong. I think all the free agents will lead to a lot of teams not wanting to trade, in the hope of filling the need with a FA signing. But still not wanting to move players to make room for a FA since they can't assume they'll be able to sign someone...

With a 3 minute clock to make your pick, I think it make kill some of the trade talk that typically happens on the floor.

Unless you've already got the deal set up, but yes, the impromptu deals are going to be tough to make.

Calgary really has no choice but to make the safe Sean Monahan selection

The three minutes should be for "are we doing it or not"? There's a lot of spontaneous stuff that goes on. Considering the playoffs just ended, some teams haven't had that much time at all. If a pick is part of the trade, based on who's been taken or not, you've even less time.

Safe pick with Monahan. And they need a centre. They're passing up a potential superstar in Nichushkin, though. That would be a riskier pick.
