Hard to complain when we get the best goalie in this years draft.

Kings pick Zykov. They need a goal scorer. Is he another Frolov?

Skilly, this may or may not put pressure on Price. While I'm not entirely sold on him, this is a good second round pick. He's a fantastic athlete. His playoffs this year were fantastic. He's a competitor. It's good to prepare for life after Price, no doubt ..... But Fucale is years away from even being the back-up. I've heard this will be the rebuilding draft for us, we saved these picks instead of picking up playoff depth that we desperately needed. Yet I see two third liners, and a goalie who had the #1 and #3 selections on his team to make him look better

He's a competitor. And I have to admit, he did make the saves he had to make in the Memorial Cup. He didn't look shaky at all, which seems to have been a criticism of his, that he wasn't consistent and made easy saves look difficult. That wasn't evident to me in the Memorial Cup. I may be trying to rationalize the pick, but I really don't like Price being the only option we have, though for the next 3 years at least, that will be the case.

Surprisingly, I don't mind Fucale at #36. Didn't expect him to make it to the 2nd round. The Habs need to build up the tender depth behind Carey.

Fucale does face a lot of rubber with all that one dimensional offense up front. He really cut down the soft goals in the playoffs. In fact, I don't recall any.

Fucale will play in Halifax next year.

Let's hope he faces a ton of rubber next year without the two stars up front to pile up the goals.

If Price continues his so so play into the future and this kid pans out they have a Plan B. From the video & comments in the thread McCarron sounds good too.

Interesting draft with picks 35, 37 and 39 getting moved on the draft floor. Seems to me like some teams have some guys still available that they consider as top 40 guys, whereas other teams don't have those guys as highly ranked, so trades become possible.

That's just it habsask. Organizational needs were size and goaltending. After Price there's NOBODY. Fucale is a great athlete, and he's a competitor.

Dave Bolland traded to Leafs for picks. Leafs got even harder. He's a super pest player.

McCarron already is being pegged as a 3rd or 4th liner. Perhaps a bit premature?
If he continues his development could he not be a 2nd line player? You don't need to be pretty and even the top lines need complementary players- he looks to be good at digging the puck out of the corners.
Just thinking out loud here......

To clarify my opinion of De La Rose, I only saw him play in the WJC. In that Tourney, when he was on the ice, he was always noticeable. I thought he was a 19 year old, but he's a May 95 birthday, so was 17 at the time and is younger than many being drafted this year. He's a terrific skater, 6' 2", with good overall skills. The one thing that also stood out was that it looked like there was a force field in front of the opposition net. He just couldn't put up points. We do not need another guy who looks awesome stepping off the bus. We need production, so I hope he can be coached to relax that tiny bit more and maybe put up some points.

There are a lot of kids in this draft that are two weeks from being eligible for NEXT year. MacKinnon first and foremost.

It's hard to judge, HabSask, and that's why I mentioned projecting. If the Berg thinks this guy can improve his skating a bit and his vision a bit, with his size, he becomes a guy who creates space for his skill linemates, even on the 2nd line. In any case, his grit will help the whole team, but not for another couple of years for sure.

Does anyone else besides me think that was a fairly cheap price for Bolland? Wasn't anyone else offering more?

Does anyone else besides me think that was a fairly cheap price for Bolland? Wasn't anyone else offering more? Three picks, all this year. Hawks clearing cap for Bickell. What will Bolland's role be in Toronto? They have McClement. Bolland filled in as a 2nd line center before, but Shaw demoted him to 4th in the playoffs ...

Does anyone else besides me think that was a fairly cheap price for Bolland? Wasn't anyone else offering more? Well, it's a deal that costs Chicago nothing in terms of cap room... maybe they didn't want filler coming back the other way since filler takes cap space.

Pens select Jarry (g). Habs and Pens picking goalies isn't a coincidence imo. In that Fleury and Price are kind of equivalent, and both teams need to load up in net to plan for the future ?

I get that, but he was a pretty damn good player 2 years ago. Has he degraded that much, despite the contract? I have to admit, he wasn't that effective in the playoffs and if he hadn't scored the Cup winning goal, what would we remember about him this year?
