Scherbak had another goal and an assist last night in their 6-2 win over Portland. He now has 6 points in his first three games with Everett. Great pick for a 26th draft spot....... As Disgruntled said, I would not be surprised if he arrived sooner then expected. Not polished defensively so maybe a few years away. Would be nice if he got stronger too

Yep. Definitely excited by Scherbak. That combination of size, speed, and skill is awful hard to teach. Defense, you can teach.

Even better:
Scherbak with a pair of assists tonight, Everett beats Kamloops 5-1. The kid has 4 goals and 4 assists in his 1st 4 games this season.

From today's practice courtesy of Canadiens.com: After being sidelined since late September with a shoulder injury, Canadiens prospect Michael McCarron will return to action on Wednesday night when his London Knights go up against the Erie Otters. McCarron was injured in a preseason tilt against the Boston Bruins. Last season, McCarron put up 14 goals, 34 points and 120 penalty minutes in 66 games.Cheers.

To counter the good injury news about Mac, Jeremy Gregoire who was injured in Habs camp will now undergo wrist surgery and miss 6-8 weeks. He was our only prospect invited to the WJC summer camp. Tough news for the kid.

Yeah. He was -1 on the night, but there were only two even strength goals out of the 7. He also had a penalty for elbowing late in the 2nd. I think he's going to get a lot of those types of penalties because of his height. He might get the odd one for kneeing a smurf in the head, too.
It is really good to see him as Star #2 in his first game back. He looked a lot better before he got hurt, in training camp. More of a beast instead of an awkward big guy.

Danielle Audette had a hat trick and a helper last night. The little guy now has 15 points in 10 games, 8 of them goals. Really bad quality video, he is #28 in white (in other words, the guy scoring the goals). m.youtube.com/watch?v=nzxWRNwn4oc

TSN has filled the NCAA hockey void in Canada with a deal to show a bunch of games on weekends. We have four prospects in the NCAA right now, no blue clippers, more fringe prospects. Six of the TSN broadcasts will feature only one prospect at this time. Six games will show recent draftee Jake Evans and Notre Dame. Our other two kids may get airtime later on if their teams advance far enough into the Frozen Four. TSN will be showing playoff games. www.tsn.ca/tsn-expands-its-ncaa-hockey-coverage-to-37-games-including-the-frozen-four-1.109310I guess an important EDIT. First broadcast is tonight and features Evans and Notre Dame. 7:30 pm TSN2.

McCarron with an assist last night. Here are the highlights of him being a big man. That goal was a result of his work. m.youtube.com/watch?v=cj1QXK3UGgAScherbak had an assist last night. Lesser known U of North Dakota forward, Mark MacMillan had a pair of goals. edit: fixed the link

Pretty quiet night overall for our prospects, as Scherbak's point streak came to an end. The exception was little known Mark MacMillan of UND. 3 goals and two helpers last night, after a pretty decent two goal game on Friday night. Jake Evans who we drafted in the 7th round this past summer had his first NCAA goal last night. He is fresh out of Junior A hockey and doesn't get a whole lot of ice since he is still very raw, so that's cool for him. Edit: MacMillan's video. He is 16 in green. m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5TkOhqy5zwEvans. m.youtube.com/watch?v=hdUQpg-EfdY

Thought I'd drop this in here ... there's a lot of talent in the system now ... in my estimation we already have the best player in the 2012 draft in Galchenyuk ... I haven't seen Yakupov play this year but I don't think he does as much for Edmonton as Gal does for Montreal ... I look down the road and I can reasonably see the players we have waiting in the wings:
* Scherbak, * De La Rose, * McCarron, * Nygren, * Dietz, * Lernout, * Crisp ...
... and a lot more to come ...

Tim Bozon returned to Saskatoon last night with the Kootenay Ice, but he is still sidelined with a minor lower body injury suffered in one of the Dog preseason games. He is expected to return to action possibly on Friday. Saskatoon was where he was rushed to hospital and eventually put into an induced coma, so lots of memories for him. A pretty good article on his return and the folks that helped him in the hospital. www.thestarphoenix.com/sports/Life+altering+illness+keeps+things+perspective+Bozon/10315509/story.htmlNikita Scherbak's Silvertips lost a tough one 5-4 last night (they were the last WHL to not have lost in regulation up to that point), but Nikita had a goal and an assist and was named third star of the game. Watched Brett Lernout and the Broncos on TV last night win a wild one against Portland. Portland tied it up with about 45 seconds to go, and the Broncos won it with 15 or so seconds to go. Lernout had a good game despite his -2 rating. He had two assists, both on the PP. The first was a nice D to D pass where his partner wired it home. The second was on the winning goal in the dying seconds, where he got a good shot through on net, and the forward pounced on the rebound and potted the winner. He plays a solid defensive game, has a decent first pass, and has a good active stick. Work in progress, but he is coming along.

Scherbak's highlights from last night. He's a good one! On another note, he was not named by Team Russia to be part of their Subway Super Series games against the WHL. He turned down an offer to play on the WJC team (I think it was last year), and it looks like the Russian Federation is playing the snub game right back. Too bad as I think he would shine at the Juniors this year. I guess we wait and see if they add him to their actual WJC roster prior to the event. That talent is really hard to ignore. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRK_pU5wijQEdit: Audette and Fucale will play for Team QMJHL. Gregoire would have as well, but just had surgery.

Massive night for a few of the kids tonight. Audette with 2g 4a in a 6-5 win. Yup, he was in on every goal! Big Mac with a goal and two helpers. Young Jake Evans with a surprising three assist night in the NCAA. Good for the rook. Check out Audette's first goal and his assist on the fifth goal. #28 in dark. m.youtube.com/watch?v=04cjriAtLgwBig Mac being big. His board work is getting good. #24 in white. Playing with Domi now!! m.youtube.com/watch?v=73WatnxJLb4Scherbak plays later. Will update later if needed. Oh yeah, Bozon with a goal in his first game back.

Mike McCarron has been putting up some points....2 assist last night...... Another 2 tonight so far tonight. 6 games 2 goals 7 assist. Not bad for a 6'5" 240 lbs giant
Audette adds another 2 goals earlier today. Just killing the QMJHL this year....... Another talented but undersized 5th rounder. 15 gp 12 g 14 a.
