I definitely don't think we're going to have to worry about McCarron's skating. He's not a speed demon, but he's not slow. He won the race to get his empty netter, and he shows very good burst getting from the blue line to the net. His strides are so long that he's there in only a couple. He's a deft passer of the puck too. Taking on Nurse shows willingness. Nurse would definitely have the advantage, as he's more accustomed to fighting. From those highlights, I think it's fair to say that Domi isn't carrying him. He's there cause he deserves to be.

Some more positive Twitter critique concerning McCarron
@brockotten: Since Michael McCarron returned to the London line-up, the Knights are 6-1 and outscoring their opponents 34-20. #turnaround
@brockotten: Clear that McCarron focused on conditioning this offseason. Massively improved (no pun intended). OHL defenders having trouble with his size

Lot of McCarron's points been assists. Only part that concerns me. He may be beneficiary of junior veteran and playing on great line. Patrick Holland scored bunched of points, mostly assists his last season in junior.

(Not that there is anything wrong with that of course)Not sure what customs are nowadays, but it was nothing for Russian men to kiss each other back in the day ... besides, if Brendan Shanahan can do it (after scoring his first NHL goal) ... Cheers.

Tim Bozon has had some minor injuries since being assigned to Kootenay, so last night was only his third game this season. He scored his first goal and added a helper. Quite the sweet goal too. m.youtube.com/watch?v=afZ1lp1t8zwLast night, Scherbak had an assist and McCarron added another goal to his tally.

That was a nice goal by Domi. Kootenay's had a rough start to the year, not being able to score (zounds!, remind you of any other team?) but not that Reinhart's back (2 goals) and Bozon's back and hopefully healthy, that should not be a problem. The guys trying to fill #1 skates, now only have to fill #2 skates and they'll be better too. Go Cranbrook!
Regarding McCarron, I saw the highlights on one of the sports channels last night and they gushed about Max Domi's hat trick. On his two PP goals, all I could see was the 6'6" door stationed right in front of the goalie. The poor guy couldn't see a thing. Domi just had to miss hitting the goalie and its in. That put a warm and fuzzy feeling in my heart. Exactly what we've been complaining about....a big guy who'll stand in front on the PP. McCarron is it. And he has nice hands for rebounds and passes too. Maybe even next season?

Seventeen, absolutely right about Kootenay. Two wins this weekend, so they are getting better results with the additions of Bozon and Reinhart into the lineup, not surprisingly. Bozon with his second goal last night. Nikita had a goal and an assist last night against Spokane, and Everett took a comfy 4-2 lead into the third...four unanswered goals in the third changed things a ton. Scherbak's two points last night keep a rather impressive run going. In 14 games so far this season, he has been kept off the scoresheet only once. Big Mac's goal on Friday night. A few of his highlights have show a much better and strong stride this season and a great shot. Funny what much better conditioning and strength can do. m.youtube.com/watch?v=HKNdYG7zjWc

Michael McCarron with 2 goals and -2 in a 9-4 loss to the Guelph Storm. The big guy keeps on racking up points.
OHL Total: 12gp 8 goals 13 assist +7 32pm
Should get him a opportunity for a spot on USA WJC hockey club I would guess

I liked the 2nd goal, the garbage variety. I like garbage goals. McCarron has to hang in the dirty areas to get garbage goals, which he's doing. I'm actually less happy with his first goal, which was a good shot from the slot. It took him too long to get it off. Instead of snapping it as it hit his stick, he corralled it first and then shot it. In the NHL, I don't think he'll score that goal. The goalies react too quickly.
