He's 24 which is ok for a goalie to start showing their stuff. And he's a big boy too. He may make it. Year two of the contract (2016-17) is one-way, so the Habs' brass think he has a chance too.

Dogs have their 5 game winnin sreak snapped by the rather horrible Iowa Stars 5-3. Of note is that Joey McDonald was in goal rather than Condon, and that Tinordi had a goal, was +1 and earned the hardest working player award for the game. I think Tinner has come around and should be ready to be called back up, if there's any movement on our back line. Or if they need someone to chaperone Price. theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014143

Good bounce back game against the same Stars tonight. 4-0, Condon with the blank, Carr with a pair, and Hudon and Sorkin with the others.

The Dogs have quietly gone 7-3 in their last 10 games, and only 2 teams in the AHL have done better over that stretch. It has moved them into a tie for the last playoff spot in their conference, although the Flames have one more win. It will be interesting to see how the Dogs do over the next couple of months leading into the playoffs, as they are definitely being led by solid goaltending. Mike Condon is currently in top spot in the AHL for save percentage and fifth for goals against average, so his recent contract extension does seem to be backed up by some solid play.
PAP took some light contact practice today, so another forward will have to be sent back once he is healthy and cleared to play. I guess that would likely be one of Thomas or DLR. Dumont was sent down earlier this week.
Can they finally make the playoffs this season, which would be a first under Lefebvre? Right now they are within sniffing range.

Make it 8 out of the last 9 for the Baby Habs after a 2-1 victory against Iowa last night. Condon was in net for the win, and recently returned forward Gabriel Dumont potted both goals for the win.
Dumont is that classic "tweener" for me. He looks decent enough in the AHL, but just seems not quite good enough when playing with the big club. His smaller stature does not help either on a team chock full of smaller forwards at the pro and minor pro level. He is doing well in Hamilton though, wearing the "C", working hard every shift, and chipping in offensively on a regular enough basis.

While that record sounds good, keep this in mind. Of their last 10 games, only 3 have been against teams we would have called .500 hockey teams in the old days. (That meaning .550 is the new .500 with the OT gimme points). To their credit they beat Grand RApids (.585) twice. They lost to Milwaukee (.660) and had a 6-1 record in the remaining 7 games against the Marlies (.511), the Lake Erie Monsters (.533) and four games against Iowa, the worst team in the league (.360). It's good that they're beating teams they should beat, but wow, that's a lot of bad teams they played in the last 10. They were 2-1 against what I'd call 'good' teams, too small a sample to make any judgements on whether or not they're improving. Let's see what happens when the schedule changes.

At least they won those games they should have. They are a very interesting team. They have a hot goalie, ineffective PP, and have trouble scoring goals (sounds rather familiar, doesn't it?). The big difference between the Habs and the Dogs is in their respective standings. The Dogs are in a battle for the last playoff spot in their conference, the Habs are not.

It sounds like they've been winning since Condon moved up that next rung. Good goaltending will cover for a lot. Now if they can do that against good teams as well, they will make the playoffs.

Dogs lost an important game to the Marlies over the weekend, but bounced back with a big 7-5 win this Family Day afternoon against the Utica Comets (a team in a playoff spot and with a better record than the Dogs).
Seven different scorers found the back of the net, but a few had big offensive games: Andrighetto (1+3), Dumont (1+2) and Hudon (0+3). The Comets outshot the Dogs 32-22, and Condon got the win despite giving up an uncharacteristic 5 goals. Andrighetto and Hudon were the 1st and 2nd stars of the game.

I'm shocked at the Dogs being in a 7-5 game, win or lose . Glad they won and the kids picked up a lot of points. Tinordi was -1 in that loss to the Marlies, but bounced back with +3 today, best of the dmen. It looks to me like he's picked up his game since he came back from that last injury. Maybe he's not having to worry about fighting and is in a better mental state. More on Tinordi. Wasn't on the ice for any Utica goals at all, but was on the ice in the last minute when the Dogs scored a shorthanded empty netter. Tangradi took a slashing penalty. Tangradi was -3. Drayson Bowman was -4. Looks like it was a real case of one line being victimized and another line (hudon/Andrighetto) making up for it. Bryan Allen was on for 3 goals against and 3 goals for, ending up at zero, but had an exciting night from the looks of the box score.

Lots of goals, kept the Family Day afternoon crowd entertained.

Dog win one, over Buffalo's farm team, the Rochester Americans 4-1. The line that sucked against the Marlies on the weekend, redeemed itself, but none of them are serious prospects so I won't comment on them. Tinordi was +1 and was not on for any Rochester goals. I like that. It's been a trend since he came back from his injury. Here's hoping it means his play has improved and he's a solid defensive defenseman. God knows we can use one. theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014221

Dogs snap a little skid with a big 4-0 win tonight. Condon with the blank. Tangradi and Carr with two each. Carr on a bit of a roll, with 9 goals in his last 10 games. Tinordi played, was +2 and had a shot on net.

Third quarter report card for the Bulldogs, written by B. La Rose www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=3645Hamilton 3rd Quarter Grades: Goaltenders and Defencemen(2015-03-13 21:41 posted by B. La Rose)
The third quarter of the Hamilton Bulldogs’ season has come and gone and the Bulldogs find themselves in the same spot they’ve been for the better part of the last few months, in a dogfight for a berth in the postseason. The usual top players continued their fine form but a few others stepped up to make key contributions. As always, our grades begin with the goaltenders and defencemen.
Players must have played in at least 5/19 games to receive a grade. Goaltenders
Mike Condon: A: It would be really hard to argue that another Montreal prospect has vaulted up the rankings as quickly as Condon has this season and his play over this past stretch was very strong. One of the big concerns heading into the season was goaltending; how were they going to replace Dustin Tokarski? If you compare the numbers, Condon has been just as good if not better and he is the main reason the Bulldogs have a shot at the postseason.
Stats: 14 GP, 10-4-0 record, 2.09 GAA, .928 SV%, 3 SO
Joey MacDonald: C+: With Condon taking over as the starter, MacDonald didn’t see a whole lot of action but when he did play, he was his typical average-to-mediocre self. He keeps the team in most games and while his paycheque is pretty high for someone whose job is to do that, he’s still a much more reliable option than the netminder who held that role last season.
Stats: 5 GP, 2-1-2 record, 2.90 GAA, .909 SV%, 0 SO Defencemen
Davis Drewiske: A: He has been the forgotten one amongst the fan base for most of the season with the youngsters garnering more attention. However, Drewiske has been their steadiest blueliner all season long and over the last couple months, has certainly played as a legitimate #1 defenceman. It’s highly unlikely to happen but he certainly has earned a look from the Canadiens.
Stats: 19 GP, 1 goal, 9 assists, 10 points, +12 rating, 8 PIMS, 41 shots
Morgan Ellis: A-: After failing to make crack Hamilton’s top-7, Ellis was sent to Wheeling where he evidently rediscovered his offensive game. Since rejoining the Bulldogs, he has played with much more confidence and is making a much greater impact on both sides of the puck. He has played himself into consideration for regular playing time down the stretch, something that would have seemed like a pipe dream just a month ago.
Stats: 6 GP, 2 goals, 3 assists, 5 points, +7 rating, 2 PIMS, 16 shots
Darren Dietz: B+: For the first time since turning pro, Dietz was a factor in the offensive game. He has settled in comfortably on the second pairing and is seeing time both on the PP and PK. While it would be nice to see him make a bit more of an impact, he is slowly but steadily progressing. If Hamilton keeps their full complement of blueliners down the stretch, Dietz may have to settle for a third pairing role and will need to find a way to continue his stronger play in fewer minutes.
Stats: 16 GP, 1 goal, 8 assists, 9 points, +2 rating, 6 PIMS, 19 shots
Jarred Tinordi: B: Tinordi recovered nicely from his concussion to play his best hockey of the season, earning himself a brief recall to the Canadiens. He and Drewiske teamed up to be a strong defensive pairing while staying away from the fisticuffs (given his success this year when dropping the gloves, that’s not a bad thing). As the games get more physical down the stretch, the Bulldogs will be counting on Tinordi in a big way to continue to elevate his game.
Stats: 13 GP, 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points, +14 rating, 2 PIMS, 19 shots
Mac Bennett: C+: On the plus side, he’s not finding himself a healthy scratch regularly as he was in the early goings of the season. On the down side, Bennett really hasn’t taken any major strides forward from October to now. This is the time of the season where they’d really like him to be more than a complementary player but given his recent injury and the fact that his GP totals are higher than he has had in years, he may wind up being a depth player down the stretch.
Stats: 16 GP, 0 goals, 3 assists, 3 points, +1 rating,2 PIMS, 19 shots
Bobby Shea: C+: When the injury bug struck, Shea had an opportunity to play third pairing minutes with a bit of regularity and he didn’t look out of place. He made more of an impact early in his stint compared to the end but the Bulldogs should feel comfortable if they need to bring him back up from Wheeling in the final few weeks of the season.
Stats: 10 GP, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, -1 rating, 7 PIMS, 6 shots
Greg Pateryn: C: It’s funny, last year no matter how well Pateryn played, he wasn’t going to get a chance with the Canadiens (short of a few days practicing with the team). This season, with him not playing particularly well with Hamilton, he gets his chance. If he is indeed around for their playoff push, Pateryn will need to be more of an impact player, particularly offensively. With no Nathan Beaulieu or Magnus Nygren, he’s the one they need to anchor the PP and he has struggled badly in that role so far.
Stats: 11 GP, 0 goals, 2 assists, 2 points, -4 rating, 2 PIMS, 25 shots
Bryan Allen: C: When he was sent down, I was hoping Allen could be a quality second pairing defenceman for the Bulldogs. While he has been passable, he certainly hasn’t made as much of an impact as most would have liked. The AHL is a step slower than the NHL but Allen has had some difficulties keeping up with the speed of some of the players in the minors. With the pressure of a playoff push approaching, Allen will need to be a steadying influence for the younger players.
Stats: 19 GP, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, -4 rating, 18 PIMS, 19 shots
Joe Finley: C-: Over these past couple of months, Finley has been the enforcer that hasn’t done any enforcing. (In general, the Bulldogs have fought less of late which is good.) Unfortunately, fighting is really only reason he’s on the team as he doesn’t bring any sort of skill to the table beyond that so suffice it to say, he hasn’t done a whole lot lately and is likely to be a healthy scratch more often than not down the stretch when everyone else is available.
Stats: 12 GP, 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, +1 rating, 6 PIMS, 7 shots
N/A: David Makowski (only 1 GP)

So maybe Nygren should, like, just stay away from the big club. Seems like bad stuff follows this guy around. After the murderous carnage that erupted in Hamilton after he moved there, and the brutal beating his brother endured in Burlington, it now seems like Sweden isn't safe when Nygren is around either. Who knows what might befall the team should he ever enter the dressing room? Injuries, illness, plagues, locusts... at this point anything is possible when Nygren is around. Canadiens prospect witnesses rally car hit photographer
PHILIP O'CONNOR, REUTERS Feb 12, 2015 Last Updated: 4:23 PM ET A photographer has been taken to hospital following a crash during the practice run at the Rally Sweden race, the only winter event on the World Rally Championship calendar. The accident happened on Thursday morning near the town of Raada when Polish driver Michal Solowow lost control of his car in a bend and flew off the road, striking the photographer. "The situation with the injured party is stable," race director Christina Lundkvist-Wiklund told state broadcaster SVT, adding that the injured man had been taken to the hospital in nearby Karlstad. Attending the event as a spectator, Montreal Canadiens hockey player Magnus Nygren, on loan to Farjestads of the Swedish Hockey League, witnessed the accident. "The crowd stood on the driver's left side, but the photographer was on his right. So when Solowow spun, he hit the photographer with the back of the car, and he flew a fair distance out into the forest," Nygren told newspaper Expressen. slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Montreal/2015/02/12/22234441.html

Saw a few games live this season and a few more on TV. Would not mind him being a bit nastier. TT had the Berg give up an extra pick for this guy, so I need to see if he was worth it.

Another loss, to Utica...3-1. Dogs now 3 points out of a playoff spot. Even the Marlies are ahead of them. How Lefebvre keeps his job is amazing. This is the 3rd straight year the team will miss the playoffs (if they keep up their current pace). Utica is in first in the Western conference, 19 points ahead of Hamilton. theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014516
