game management in Washington; Cap penalty with 3 to go. Poor game management by Capuano I think. The Isles PP was 0-13 at that point.Instead of pulling the goalie & going for the 6 on 4 PP he waits, lets the PP fail, and then pulls Halak. I was thinking that as I watched too.

Game 7 between Tampa and Detroit is Wednesday. When does the second round start, Friday? Detroit riding young Mrazek all the way ... there's another playoff story ... hope he has one more good game left in him for Wednesday ... honestly, though, it won't matter who we play ... Tampa has had our number all year, but so did Ottawa ... Detroit actually should have beat us in their last game in Montreal but, Jimmy Howard looked more like MA Fleury and that was why we won ... just want another crack at the Rangers ... first things first, I guess ... Cheers. I think the Caps are going to be tough for the Rags. The Rangers aren't a big team up front. Their defense is. The Caps have size and speed up front, and their 4th line hits A LOT. The Islanders Martin and Clutterbuck lead the league in hits this year. Caps Beagle and Wilson weren't far behind. They'll lean on the Rangers a lot.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing some of this series ... the Caps are a tad different under Trottz ... more structure than in previous years ... that's from what little I've seen of them this year ... I know they can skate with the Habs ... it would be pretty even series me thinks ... Cheers.

I'd add Nyquist and Tatar to that list of finishers ... Cheers. I considered them, but I don't think they're necessarily high end. I think they're both Gallagher types. Both a little better at this point at creating chances for others, but when it comes to finishing not top shelf. I see them as 25-30g men. Consistent at it, but not guys that will hover near or at 40. Datsyuk has never come close to 40, and is a 25-30 goal man. Zetterberg hasn't reached 40 in years, and is now more a 20 goal man

Never said Zetterberg was still a 40g man. Both he and Pavel, regardless of Pavel's goal totals, would fairly be considered high end offensive talent over the course of their careers and still drive the bus when healthy. I don't see Nyquist or Tatar being the same.

The Bolts just got a leg-up on Game 7.
Kronwall suspended 1 game for this hit on Kucherov.

In the midst of leaving his feet at impact, and led with the elbow/arm. He's made a career out of that hit, and was never punished for it to my recollection. I just love how well the helmet stays on Kucherov's head after impact. It's a wonder his bare head didn't impact the ice. Sigh, that's another thread, another debate.

Allen was NOT good in Game 6. Goaltending continues to be the Blues' problem. Totally agree. 3 straight first round exits for the Blues after stellar regular seasons, part of it due to some bad luck in going up against some hot tems (LA, CHI, MIN) but most due to losing the goaltending battle. It can really kill you in the playoffs. Hitchcock will probably get fired but it's hard to really blame him. I feel bad for them because other than a goalie, I really like the way St Louis is built. Great balance on the top 6 with guys like Tarasenko (an budding superstar), Backes, Stastny, Steen, Oshie, Schwartz, and Lehtera. And they have a solid top 4 on D with Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Bouwmeester, and Jackman. Put Carey Price in there and the Blues are a Cup team.

It's a good regular season team, but that core continues to fail to produce in the crunch. Their playoff performances are horrendous. Tarasenko's the only one that showed up.

Zidlicky also out for the Wings tonight. Kindl Surprise and 23 year old Alexey Marchenko replacing Zids and Kron. Yikes. Is the fat lady warming up, or does Babcock want that Schwartz's sandwich badly enough?

I don't see Nyquist or Tatar being the same. I have a neighbour who's a Detroit fan and I've seen Detroit plenty of times this year ... both Nyquist and Tatar are very effective finishers ... I'd compare them to maybe, Plekanec, not so much Gallagher ... they may/may not reach 40-odd goals, I really couldn't tell you one way or the other ... but I think Detroit would be hurting big time if they were out of the lineup ... besides you're in a another class of player if you can score 40 goals in the system Mike Babcock's uses ... Cheers.

Wonder if Kronwall is off somewhere thinking why he was singled out for suspension when Karlsson skates away unscathed ... Cheers.

Must have been the jump at the end, plus the previous history.

Quotes of the day from Babcock: "I think if we talk about game 7 I won't get fined." "There's a restaurant in Montreal called Schwartz's that I'm dying to have a sandwich from."

Refs aren't shy about calling penalties in this game 7, so far anyways. That's good.

Cherry complaining that we're essentially getting a week off while the Wings/Bolts will only get one day off.

Shots are 23-12 Detroit after two periods.
Yet still 0-0.
Wings have missed chances Habs-style. Missing on 2-on-1s....whiffing on clear chances....one glorious opportunity just as the second expired.
Too bad. They deserve to be up 2 or 3.

Wings are skating well, and really limiting the Bolts 5-on-5.

Mrazek's making saves that Howard wasn't.

How does Killorn get away with holding Quincey on the ice behind the Wings' net while Coburn scores?
No doubt in my mind that's interference....Quincey would've been up and out front of the net to provide another body in front.
BS.
EDIT: On the replay, it appears as if Quincey had Killorn's stick underneath him....so perhaps it was mutual. Not sure...

Zetterberg with an open side...but he puts it back into Bishop's crest.

Zetterberg would like that chance back. Yep...that's usually in the short side. He shot it back towards the middle of the net, and Bishop was there. One of those nights? The Wings have certainly had their chances.
