Well, Matthews scores in the first period....and the hype is at 11.
He's a stud, no question...
EDIT: Matthews makes it 2-2 on a great solo effort and shot.

Sportsnet is already unbearable, after one period in the season. The love-in is all in.

Stone & Hoffman both unbelievably soft on that goal. AND Karlsson....you gotta be hard on the puck when he's around. Finally, the Leafs get rewarded for sucking... He'll likely score a couple more tonight. Ha! Somebody's yet to "say hello" to him, though...

Matthews with his record-setting 4th as time runs out in the second.
4-3 Leafs.
That said, the Sens are playing soft (other than Neil's board-erline hit.)
EDIT: I can see the headline now. MATTHEWS X SENS Y...or SENS X MATTHEWS Y
Like when the Rocket scored all 5 on the Leafs.

Hope the Sens play this soft on Saturday. Not a chance...they're puck-watching whenever Matthews is on the ice. At least Doug MacLean pointed it out...exactly what jkr posted earlier.

Funny, too...that Garry Galley said Andersen should've had Brassard's "bad angle" goal...but the Matthews similar-angle goal on Anderson was just a great play.

Karlsson was incredibly soft on that second goal. But he's still great, blny...never a fear about that. There's only ONE defenseman in this league who gets vilified for a mistake. Well, maybe not any longer.

Matthews is really skilled, I knew that part. Unfortunately it looks like he possesses great head for the game. But without a doubt Anderson and the other guys in red/black can win best supporting actor award for their part tonight.

Let's see what matthews does against a real team and a goalie who is on his game... Caillou has been awful tonight.

Sens are playing the Leafs much like Team Europe played Team North America in the World Cup.
Shaping up to be a Matthews OT winner to make it a 5-goal debut.

Truly impressive debut ... the kid is humble too ... we have the Leafs coming up on the 29th ... have to know when this kid is on the ice all the time ... quite the talent ...
Chapeau!

Matthews: Definitely my fault on that last goal...so, gotta learn from that. At least he owned it, he made 2 or 3 mistakes on that OT winner. From chasing Karlsson around the net, to give Ottawa way too much space in the o zone. I don't think Toronto even touched the puck in the OT

I feel like starting a pool ... When will the next Maple Leafs reach the 4 goal mark this season. I'm guessing late November!
