Davey, wearing lucky #13, with his first point. Face off win, he kicks it back and an Oiler defender puts a seeing eye wrister through a crowd.

Glad to see Winnipeg putting it together. Did you hear that Maurice put off signing a contract extension? It sounded like it was on the table for him to sign, but he didn't feel it was warranted until he got the team into the playoffs (or something like that). I'm liking this guy more and more. Talk about values and morals.
I had picked the Jets to make the playoffs based on the large number of young guys they had coming on stream and the overall talent level. Then, goaltending went sideways and that can kill you. Nice to see the 'tending better and the Jets moving on up. Another good Canadian team to give Bettman ulcers. Habs vs Winnipeg final. US ratings crater. Governors fire Bettman. I like that story line.

TSN has a banner on their home page announcing that the game in New Jersey tonight between the Devils and Jets has been postponed. Rare to see even weather cancel a sporting event, but it's a pretty wicked storm moving up the seaboard. Looks like it will be mostly rain here in Halifax ... thankfully ...
Proper thing imo. No need for people to be on the road in what's coming. Stay inside, be safe, and go to the game when it's rescheluded for. If you're in the path, stay safe.

I'm about an hour north west of Toronto & it's been OK here - less than 10cm. I think the worst of it is down around Hamilton/Niagara.

Family in Hamilton are posting some pics of pretty good drifts. They're calling for upwards of 30cms in much of NB over night. It's going to start as snow here along the NS Atlantic Coast, but turn to rain. 5-10cm of snow then 30mm of rain. Along with 100kmh winds. That's it for your weather report.

Calling for 40-50 cm of snow down here in the Townships and I can say we are currently well on our way to making those expectations.

FLA thumps the Leafs 7-2. Vanek with 4 assists. Tons of empty seats.

Interesting ... The Bolts will be without centres Tyler Johnson, Vladislav Namestnikov and Cedric Paquette for Thursday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. All three were injured against the Minnesota Wild on March 9. ( sic) Cheers.

Never thought I would see the day, this late in the season, that Brad Marchand would be leading the races for the Ross & Richard trophies.

A bit of a segue from the Marchand talk.
Since we stymied the Oil on Sunday, they have averaged 7 goals per game in their two matches this week. An explosion of goals as they pounded woeful Dallas 7-1 on Tuesday and Boston 7-4 last night (how can this result not put a smile on your face?!?!). The Ross head-to-head battle was a draw individually, with both getting 3 points; however, the most important points went to the Oilers in the standings. The Oil are in quite the dogfight with Anaheim and Calgary for the last two playoff spots in the division and avoiding a wild card spot.

I know the Hawks are head and shoulders better than the Avalanche.
But....first game back from a road trip....played last night in Toronto.....down 3-1 entering the third period tonight vs. Colorado.
4 goals in the third to take a 5-3 lead. There's a team with a switch it can flip.

Toronto-Boston in s 1-1 tie late in the third.
Dominic Moore gets called for a VERY WEAK interference call.
Bozak scores on the PP....and two empty-netters later.
Boston scores with 10 seconds left....but what a terrible call! Considering what was let go.
I'm sure the Bruins' fans and their media will have something to say.

Soshnikov drove Bergeron head-first into the boards from about a foot away. 2:00 for boarding.
Considering Bergeron's status and concussion history, I'd have bet on 4:00 at the very least. Bergeron washed the penalty by getting up and going back at Soshnikov who, by that time, was close to the side of the net beside Kevan Miller (I think). Miller did NOTHING to stand up for his leader.
That should be concerning to the Bruins' brass.
Maybe the Bruins' influence on officiating is fading/has faded. Their HF board is livid.
Oh well, bayback's a pitch!

Leafs in 3rd after beating the Jackets 5-2 in Columbus.
1 point up on Boston with a game in hand.
I hate to say it....but it's a good story for the morale around these parts.
Nothing like your team looking good.

The leafs making the playoffs doesn't concern me so much. Ideally I would like them finsish third in the division meaning that if we happen to fall in the standings we would end up playing them. If we don't drop, then we get the battle of Ontario and it is a win/win for us. Let the bruins face the tougher opponent in the Metro so they can beat each other up more and make it a more interesting series.

I suspect most of our games will be tight, one-goal games regardless who the opponent is ... if we play the Leafs it may very well be one of the best series in this year's playoffs ... have to make the postseason show first, though ... Cheers.

Nothing like your team looking good. Just listening to the broadcast last night and the colour analyst pointed out how the Leafs went into a 1-2-2 (or was it 1-3-1) defensive system in the 3rd to protect that one-goal lead ... they did it very well and while Columbus carried the play for most of the final frame, at no time did I feel they were even close to tying it up ... you think our PP needs work, Columbus' PP sucked huge last night to the point where people were booing ... familiar, no ... Cheers.

Round 2: We play the Leafs and win Round 3: We play the Bruins (who have somehow won the Metro division) and win. Round 4: We play the Black Hawks and win. the scenario I care about: we make it to round 4 and win. I don't care who we play as long as we win!

May seem like a silly question but is anyone else tired of Greg Millen & the Matthews hype? Sure he's good but I wouldn't call him a superstar as Millen did tonight. And a nice backhand pass is described as "unbelievable". Enough!

I guess I was trying to say that nothing is a lock with this team ... like, nothing ... they handed Ottawa their butts in successive games, then lay eggs against Detroit and Carolina ... and we're playing a few more of 'those weaker teams' in the next few weeks ... in keeping with the thread, the Leafs won again tonight and are 6 points back ... I mentioned not too long ago that the division is wide open ... it still is, IMO ... Cheers.
