First time I've ever heard MacLean use "we" in reference to the Leafs. he may not even have realized it . . . you involve yourself in something for so long it seeps into you. need more . . .

First time I've ever heard MacLean use "we" in reference to the Leafs. I used to admire his restraint in that regard....but his blue-and-white trunks are on now, and he's frolicking in the pool with the rest of the broadcast. The context? I didn't catch the slip.

Just before OT, Cherry said something like, "If you said the Leafs would be 2-2 heading into overtime against the Capitals...you'd have taken it. But you negative guys....(points to MacLean). MacLean replied with something like, "But we had it...(with 2-0 and 2-1 leads)...and it was slipping away..."

Well, Blues are going home up 2-0. The only criticism I've read about the Wild at this point is that their play is too conservative. Last night, tied at 1 late, Schwartz scored on a wrister from the high slot. He had two defenders in front of him, and Dubnyk was not screened. Devan may have lost the puck in one of his team mates sticks, but we're talking about a wrist shot from a fair ways out. Dubnyk looked very small on the play, and wasn't at the top of his crease either.
Viewers will have to stomach the Leafs AND the Sens tonight. Think I'll catch up on some shows lol.

was at the game, looking right down on the play. the Bruin fan beside me couldn't believe it either. it was Anderson being Anderson . . . . as someone said, Carey Price he is not.

what is with the Leafs jumping ahead of Washington? I just don't get Washington. They have a great lineup from the net out but have never got past the 2nd round. IMO the key is Ovechkin. Until he shows up & imposes his will these games will be close. They should beat the Leafs in 4 but if AO continues to be a no show who knows.

Speaking of letting the players play...Oshie bowled into Andersen looking for a rebound, and no penalty. No stoppage in play either.

Kadri whacks Holtby, Holtby retaliates and guess who gets the penalty call.

Entertaining OT to say the least. Caps and Leafs both have some impressive skating.

Preds are really stifling the Hawks in the few bits I've seen. When the Hawks get the puck in, the Preds very mobile defense retrieves it and gets it out quick.

wow. (in regards to the Leafs winning in Washington) They give up the winner to the Leafs' 4th line - really?? I think Washington is one of those teams that will never get over the hump. They dominate during the rgeglar season but in the past they just find a way to lose in the playoffs. Ovechkin has one goal - on the PP - & he has never been able to deliver internationally either. The scoring exploits are great but his legacy will be about winning & he has never done it on a big stage.

Fact check:
Ovechkin has won World Junior gold and three World Championship gold medals.
In the NHL playoffs he has 83 points (42 goals, 41 assist) in 86 playoff games.
Blaming Ovechkin for Washington's failures is akin to blaming Price for Montreal's. He is doing his job, can others say the same. This year he has been relatively quiet, because they are actively trying to shut him down, but Washington's Offense is built around that this year. Stop Ovi, but then you have Kuznetsov, Oshie, Backstrom, etc ... speaking of which, where is Backstrom?! You know, Washington's leading scorer this year? (what has Bacstrom done internationally? One WC gold where he played 4 games and never registered a point). Strange how he escapes criticism ... Ovechkin can't do it all by himself, no one can.

I should have been clearer. I'm talking Stanley Cup playoffs & Olympics. By WC, are you talking about the spring tournament with players from teams that don't make the playoffs? I guess we differ on the importance of this tournament. It's not a best on best tournament like the Olympics. My guess is that Ovechkin sees this as a consolation prize because Washington had been eliminated. I know it's just one game & they may rebound. My comments are colored by my dislike for the Leafs but I still think, that if he wants to cement his legacy, that he has to be the guy that takes over the series.

I think the Leafs are playing a whale of a series.
I'm interested to see what Matthews and Marner can do on home ice.
The seed of doubt has been planted, and it'll grow as long as Andersen stays on his game.

Washington has do a lot more than win this 1st vs 8th seed matchup to change how many think about their inability to win in the playoffs.
How about the Blankhawks? That is a lot of talent and veteran leadership that Nashville had neutralized...so far!
The legend of the 8th seeds in the first round continues to grow this year....so far.
I was hoping to see Pretty Boy Karlsson pout some more after being down 2-0 in their series against Boston. Oh well. I dislike both teams so just want a tough seven game series that burns them both out. Dislike may be too polite a term for my feelings about the Bruins actually.
