WASHINGTON in 4 (Andersen is not Halak, and the Caps are tired of early exits--Leafs' fans and media will hold an "Exceeded Expectations" parade that will last the entire off-season.) PITTSBURGH in 6 RANGERS in 6 (Unless Price starts Conn Smythe talk with a sub-2.00 GAA) BOSTON in 6
CHICAGO in 6 MINNESOTA in 6 SAN JOSE in 6 ANAHEIM in 7

Some good series on tap:
Caps/Leafs..... should be high octane! Pens/Jackets....should go 7. Hawks/Preds.....Don't sleep on Nashville. Probably the most talented blue line 1-4 in the NHL. Sharks/Oilers...Nice to see EDM back in the playoffs. Can we get you another #1 pick??

Washington in 5. Hate to do it but TO will probably take 1.
Pittsburgh in 6
Boston in 7
Chicago in 5
Minnesota in 6
Edmonton in 6
Anaheim in 5. Calgary just has a poor history against the Ducks.
Montreal in 6. Price just owns the Rangers.

They finished dead last a season ago & people were positive as if being the worst team in the league is a good thing. Even if they had blown their playoff spot this season the excuses would fly - such a young team bla, bla , bla.

Even if they had blown their playoff spot this season the excuses would fly - such a young team bla, bla , bla. They do have a point with the "young team" excuse, as they have over-achieved somewhat. When Andersen got his game together, he was among the best. I guess 50 years of futility will get them to admit they HAD to tank for Matthews. It really was their only way out. I'm inclined to give Tim Leiweke some credit. He lured (cash) Shanahan away from NHL HQ. Shanahan has performed quite admirably.

I think it WAS goaltender interference with Kadri being in the crease.
Holtby tried to get his stick across and it hit Kadri's leg.
Ref waved it off, immediately....but video review in (ahem) Toronto reversed it.
Yes, there was no body-to-body contact....but it could be argued that Kadri's leg impeded a possible stick save.
Anyway...2-0 Toronto....with the Caps just going on a long 5-on-3.

I pegged a 5-2 Cap win. I just didn't think the Leafs would score their goals in the first period.

I can't stand Justin Williams since he almost took out Saku's eye but man is that guy a playoff producer.

True, WD. His middle name must be "Time". Clutch player. The puck seems to "find" those guys.
TV coverage is a bottomless jug of maple syrup.
Imagine having your national broadcasters' support?

Too precious...

Have not watched much of this game but just heard Kypreos saying Ovechkin has been a big non factor. Into OT now.

Ron MacLean, before OT, replying to Cherry calling him "negative".
"We had it...and it was slipping away..."
We. National broadcaster. We. Toronto. The Toronto Maple Weafs.
I'm trying to like this version of the Leafs....but this pro-Toronto bias is sickening. Especially in light of their meh-Montreal coverage.
Oh well, Caps win in OT. Tom Wilson, bad angle. First career goal!
As well as Andersen had played, he should've had that.
But all will be well in Leaf land.

But all will be well in Leaf land. "nobody expected us to even make the playoffs. then nobody expected us to do well against the Caps. but look at that -- we took them to OT and coulda won". conclusion: a great season.

All of that is true...it's that they grab for it every time a fly lands in their maple syrup.

Anaheim 3-2 over the Flames. The Honda Centre is just not a good place for the Flames. 6th straight playoff loss there.
Bring Stanley Home off to a rough 0-5 start. I am joking, it really is only off to a 0-1 start. What was I thinking?

First time I've ever heard MacLean use "we" in reference to the Leafs.
I used to admire his restraint in that regard....but his blue-and-white trunks are on now, and he's frolicking in the pool with the rest of the broadcast.

Too bad RDS doesn't do Canadiens playoff games anymore. Heck, I even enjoyed when TSN covered us for the first round back in 2010.
I'd rather they (CTV) handle that instead of CBC/Rogers.
