I wonder if he's either playing through an injury or if the Bruins are just effectively shutting him down ... holding Austin Matthews to just one goal to this point, the Bruins can't ask for much more ... interested in seeing how the Leafs fair in Boston ... Cheers.

I'm certainly not a Subban detractor. Thanks for the link! Berkshire was close. Hedman, Subban, Doughty Liam McGuire guaranteed on his Facebook page that not only would Subban NOT get nominated, he would not get many votes at all. #egginface Another expert from the ol boys club who knows everything And when Subban is on the list McGuire won't admit he's wrong. These know it alls can never admit a mistake.

Mathews needed to step up, and he did not.
It's possible the Leafs take the next one in Boston, but they now have to win three straight in the series, and I think Boston will be eager to finish this one on home ice.

These know it alls can never admit a mistake. Grant McCagg is doing his utmost to discredit the nomination. Another case of someone refusing to admit his opinions could be wrong. Love it! I also enjoyed a recent comment of Laviolette’s, “What struck me is how good he is defensively “. When you look back at all the criticism of PK over his risky play, this is especially redeeming. But Bergevin couldn’t stand him or understand him and didn’t get proper value in return. The old boys club in the NHL is strong.

McCagg especially likes calling PK a second pairing defenseman. I’m not sure how he distorts stats to suggest that Impartially, Nashville has 4 first pairing guys. Laviolette uses them based on what he needs most, offense or defense. There isn’t a second pairing on Nashville. McCagg can’t stop slagging PK though. He’s very much a member of that old boys dinosaur group

PK or Larry&DSP... I'd be fine with either.

What is with these guys? Experts in the field, his own coach & analytics experts like Berkshire extol his virtues.
McGuire & McCagg are small timers. Outside of their own tiny niche, nobody would know who they are & they can't stand it.

Jets running away with game 5. 4-0 after one period. Dubnyk gone.

Jets give fans first home series clinching win in 31 years. Flyers force a game 6 at home. Pens weren't sharp for stretches - especially in the first. Flyers already have 2 wins in Pittsburgh. If they can find a way to force game seven ... Neuvirth was in net tonight.

Funny. Josi takes forays deep into the Avs' zone all night....he lost the puck a few times....somebody's backing him up.
Subban does it late in the game....turns into a 2-on-1....and the Avs win on the back of Horseshoes Hammond. PK will be ROASTED!
On any other night, this game is 5-0 Preds after 40 minutes.

Yup, there should have been someone backing him up. But, at that point in the game, down 1, everyone is crashing the net. Sometimes you get a break and tie it up and sometimes it goes the other way. The bigger story to me is that twit, Hammond. He can't make the NHL, but comes in and stones the Preds. I didn't think Nashville played all that well, mind you. They look tight and their panic threshhold is way too short. On that tying goal, couple of observations. Not sure why PK was out there with Ellis. Is Ekholm injured? That was the case late in the game too, on the winnning goal.
Secondly, sometimes the hockey gods shine on certain teams. McKinnon made a great play holding onto the puck, but after Subban went down and McKinnon went around him, Rinne, in his rush to cover the angle, went down and took Ellis' feet out from under him so Ellis couldn't get his stick in front of McKinnon's and both Rinne and Ellis were totally out of the play leaving Landeskog wide open. I wondered if Landeskog pushed Ellis into Rinne, but I don't think so. Rinne just took out Ellis. That doesn't happen often, for sure. But Hammond had the horseshoes polished up tonight. He was on his game. A minor leaguer is a minor leaguer however. The magic wears off, but sometimes it takes a couple of weeks, which might not be good news for Nashville. Or Hammond could let in a dozen next game. Flip of the coin by Zeus.

I think this might be Victor Hedman's year ... that's just me ... don't think it is (just you). politics. the other two have won and neither was "stand-out no way they can lose", so it gives Hedman the opportunity to win "his".

Hamburgler steals a game for Colorado. Series is now 3-2 Nashville.
PK had a shot blocked and a 2-on-1 went the other way where Andrighetto buries a rebound for a late go-ahead goal.

Hey Berg, good to see some Habs still killing it.
Keep firing those duds around you! Molson can finish it off.

The Jets are fast, furious and tenacious. That is a fun team to watch. And they have injuries too.
Nice to see a well built team succeed. They have drafted talent and it shows.

Then he said he had ZERO chance of winning, now he is saying all he said was he would not win it, and he still won't. He also said PK would get zero Hart votes, comparing it to his zero Norris votes last year ... Now he is saying he meant zero first place votes. He is too much like Cherry / Trump for me

McCagg is still valiantly defending Bergevin (like the Black Knight in Holy Grail). He points out that Andrighettos points put him at an 8 goal pace over a season. I couldn’t resist asking him what Martinsen’s pace was.

Wash/CBJ going to OT. Jackets totally dominate the 3rd, outshot Caps 16-1.

Cherry explains how somebody should've covered for Subban on the winning goal.
Agree.
Then he shows a highlight of Ed Westfall covering for Bobby Orr....on Orr's most famous goal--the 1970 Cup winner.
Disagree.
a. The two plays aren't similar in any way, shape, or form.
b. That goal was scored 5 years before Don's Bruin debut.
Talk about a stretch....
Just another example of Don finding a way to associate himself to #4's entire highlight reel.
Why stop now, I suppose.....

The only thing between the Leafs and a golf cart was Andersen.
Reminded me of Halak vs. Washington in 2010.
