1 point for deciding series winner and another point for guessing in the right amount of games (must select the correct team for extra point to be valid)?

My prediction post is longer, to honour Bad Company who is alive and kicking but busy.
West conference
Wild vs Jets
I’m going with the Jets because I want them to do well. They are a deep team up front and on defense. As always, the question to me is the playoff goaltending, which can be quite different from the regular season. If Hellebuyck is average or better, the series goes 5 games. Suter being out is a huge blow for the Wild as it really weakens their back end. Jets in 5.
Kings vs Vegas
I’ve never been a fan of the Kings so I hope Vegas beats them. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop with Vegas and it didn’t. I think too many of their players had career years, but I have always thought they were a very fast team. That kind of speed can put a lot of pressure on other teams. Scoring can be weak on the Kings. Kopitar had a great season and Carter is back now, but those seem to be the two dangerous scorers. Solid defense with 5 decent defensemen. Vegas has been underrated all season and they have balanced scoring. I’ll go with my heart here and with Fleury’s goaltending…Vegas in 7
Colorado vs Nashville
It’s going to be tough to stop McKinnon but there’s too much depth and talent on the Preds. Some late injuries have weakened the Avs, so Nashville in 4. Teams get swept about 12% of the time and this is the most likely matchup for that IMO. Nashville in a sweep.
Sharks vs Ducks
The consolation for me is that one team I dislike is guaranteed to not advance. I used to like San Jose, but now they’re just a team that might eliminate another team that has a real shot at the Cup. Pretenders, but tough pretenders. The Sharks are a team with uncertain goaltending. I never know how Martin Jones is going to play. I’m not sure their defense is offensive enough. There’s not a lot of points that come out of the back end. The Ducks had a string of injuries but they seem to be back to mostly full health now. It’s a solid team without a lot of holes, but I never know about their coaching. Carlyle is weird. Nonetheless, they have lots of depth and I think Kase is a diamond in the rough. Ducks in 6
Eastern Conference
Bruins-Leafs.
This may indeed be a coin toss, or it could be a sweep, Sometimes, if things start going the wrong way, it can snowball in a hurry. Hockeydb doesn’t show save percentages for the playoffs so it’s hard to see what Andersen and Rask have done. Both teams can score, and both have skeptical defenses, IMO. Boston just lost Brandon Carlo and that’s going to hurt. It’s a toss up but I’ll go with Boston in 7. I just hope both get so banged up that neither makes it through Round 2.
Flyers / Pens
I’m going with the Flyers in this one. I figure there has to be an upset in this conference and this is the one I’m picking. Pittsburgh just hasn’t looked as dominating to me as they did 2 years ago. I thought with their defense banged up last year they’d lose, but then Nashville lost Johansen and that went out the window. The Pens defense isn’t scaring anyone. Dumoulin is solid and Letang is Letang. Maata is ok, but Schultz hasn’t scored as well as last year and Ruhwedel and Hunwick are a weak 3rd pair. Murray was outstanding both his playoff years and perhaps he’ll take a breather this year. Pittsburgh probably has more talent throughout the line-up, but then so did their 2010 team and the Habs killed them. Maybe Philly;s goaltender goes Halak or something, but I just think is one upset possibility. Philly in 6.
Devils – Lightning
Tampa in 5. I think the Devils will give them more trouble than everyone expects because they are fast, but Tampa is playoff experienced and has enough weapons to move through. No sense putting more analysis into this. It will be interesting to see how Hischier plays, though. Much better than we expect, I’d say. Tampa in 5
Washington – Columbus
There are all kinds of reasons to pick Columbus in this one, except that I think Washington is due to play another round or two. Caps in 6 because of experience, though Bobrovsky could steal this series. Washington can’t have more bad luck in the playoffs, can they? Maybe that’s what I’m banking on…that they are due for some good luck for a change. And I like Lars Eller. Caps in 6
In summary, and with Eastern Conference first
Tampa in 5 Boston in 7 Philly in 6 Washington in 6
Nashville in 4 Jets in 5 Vegas in 7 Ducks in 6

Should be fun seeing who comes closest.

20 minutes into Jets/Wild and I'm already tired of the officiating.
There were several hooks and holds that should be called, but aren't. Letting "the players play" is code for "you can do what you couldn't in the regular season for some arbitrary reason."
Penalties should still be penalties.

I am, and will continue to be, very envious of the fans watching their teams score every goal in these playoffs.
Really enjoying both games....even though the Pens have blown out the Flyers. Crosby just keeps proving he's the best forward in the world, considering he's likely one concussion away from sayonara.
Hey, Berg! If you can put down your copy of Attitude is Enough, this is how real teams are built....

Morrow will give back more than he gets. Got lucky that his shot went off the stick of a Wild player. Laine may well have a better release than Ovi. What a shot.

Minnesota almost pulled off a Game 1 upset...which what I was counting on. I also thought LA would steal Game 1 in Vegas. Both 1-goal losses. So much for my predictions......

Morrow is not that bad in the offensive zone. He showed a lot there with the Habs. Unfortunately he also showed a lot in the defensive zone. More goals than usual being scored at both ends Well, I was 2 for 3 last night. Damn Hakstol, starting Elliott. Play Mrazek or Neuvirth, start frustratng the Pens and watch them blow up. (to Quote Mssr. Bergevin...I'm a very glass half full kinda guy.)

Caps lose Game 1 in OT...
Ah...memories of Pleks' Game 1 OT goal in 2010 on Theo.....and the irate Caps' fan.
===========
Leafs weren't even close to the intensity level of the Bruins. If Andersen can't steal anything, this series might be a sweep. Kadri is the only Leaf I dislike...and he provided the reason tonight. Right up there with Marchand when he wants to dish out the dirt.

Doughty gets one game for his hit. Wonder if anything will come of Kadri play. Precedent has been set.
Rinne stood on his head last night.
Congrats to Kane for scoring 2 goals in his first playoff game.

TSN (McKenzie) & the Sportsnet crew condemned the Kadri hit strongly which surprised me. Sounded like they were expecting more than a game suspension. He's like Marchand - good hockey players that go to the cheap shot too often. BTW - what was that between Marchand & Komarov? eew! Looked like a make out session.

Button was clear in his distaste for the play. He thinks it's a couple of games. He also thinks Wilson (Caps) should get suspended for his hit on Wennberg. Marchand's heavy breathing on Komaraov's neck is creepy, and could well be the new "smell my finger" from 2011.

Wingels didn't elbow Marner. It was his upper arm.
Kadri was angry about something else not being called on him...
Deliberately charged and jumped, throwing his hip into a vulnerable player's head area.
Chara showed tremendous restraint there....
I say he gets 2 games.
=============
Kadri's the only Leaf that reminds me of the Tucker-Domi-Roberts-Marchment-McCabe era. My least-favourite Leaf team by far.
Komarov and Martin are reminiscent as well...but they're not as goony as Kadri.
