That's one thing Bergevin and Therrien can't take away from them. (Lars and Devante) Also great that they were important contributors, not just hangers-on. "Some players get you to the playoffs and some players get you through the playoffs". Marc Bergevin And Bergevin can't do either.

Yeah Karl, I am pretty miffed you aren’t still on the Caps to be getting a Cup ring too. Just sayin’.

I hopes it brings home the point that Bergevin doesn't seem to know what he has. How could he not see the value of these guys? Maybe it's because he cannot build a team where these guys would play an important role. What did the 2 of them go for? A couple of seconds & a bum like Matteau. Brutal.

Larry and DSP were put in a position to succeed because they were not playing out of their element/capability. The Caps had the talent to allow them to play where they should. The Habs do not. I am also happy for DSP and Jerabek, but imo Larry suffered more under MTHead than either of the the other 2.

A comment from Lars was that he immediately felt comfortable and 'at home' when he went to Washington. The inference is that he did not feel that way in Montreal. I think if he had a chance to work with Julien he would have been better. You won't find many better #3 centres in the league for a playoff. He and Matt Cullen have a similar game in that they seem to go about their business without a lot of fanfare, but do so many of those little things that win you games in the crunch. Cullen left the Pens last year and they didn't win their 3rd Cup. Cullen was in the line-up the previous 2 years. Lars scored two of the most important goals for the Caps this year....the OT winner against Columbus in the first round that brought them to trailing just 2-1 and the Cup winning goal with 5 minutes left. Not a spectacular goal by any means, but one of those tough, outmuscle your check to the right area, goals.
Good to see him win. And DSP and Jerabek. Jerabek must be chuckling. To go from bouncing back and forth from the AHL to the Habs, to having your name on the Stanley Cup. Who says Bergevin isn't appreciated?

What a playoff for Michal Kempny. Not good enough to crack the Blackhawks defense, but gets acquired at the deadline and had an incredible run. Good puck-mover and is a UFA.

Yes, he played well. Not well enough for one good coach (Quenneville) but plenty good for another (Trotz). Curious huh? Not sure what to make of that, other than perhaps a different treatment by a different coach worked out. Or a different role.

"We are not going to be f***ing suck this year. We are Stanley Cup Champions."
Is there a human on this spinning orb right now having more fun than Ovie?

That was an excellent read ... I really hope this kind of celebration rubs off on the rest of the league ... this is what it's supposed to be about ... good to see you checking in HABsurd ... Cheers.

Medical update: Alexander Ovechkin is believed to have suffered rotator cuff injuries on both shoulders from hoisting the Stanley Cup once too often. Doctors warn that the Cup is heavier than it looks.

Did not want to create a new thread for this, but it is cool to see Larry's big day being the first Dane to bring the Cup home!!

Don't know about you guys...and maybe its because of one or two guys who I follow, but I'm quite sick and tired of the Capitals' SC trail. Heck I even had one tweet where the trainer or someone like that had the Cup at his town and others where guys were eating cereal out of the Cup and so on. It seems people don't respect it anymore and just want to see what more extreme thing they can do to impress the world. No offense against Lars. It's just the volume of "eeehaaa, we won the cup" that's tiring. When Ovie had it to start with, it was really sickening. Ok, he won the Cup after many years of trying. Great. Guess what? Soon they'll have to defend it and they'll find out that's no fun job.
PS. I wouldn't have them winning it again next year.

Nice to see his countrymen enjoying the moment with him there in Denmark.
The East is very strong at the top so returning to the Finals will be complicated even if the commitment and fortune are there.
