Rouyn and Prince Albert both win game 1 of their series. Teasdale wit two goals and the first star in the win. Fonstad was back in the lineup, and held pointless as PA won a tight 1-0 game against Edmonton.
Both OHL series ended up losses on game one for our two guys on Thursday, although McShane had three assists and Suzuki had one in those losses.
All four series back on Saturday night.

Suzuki with a 1+1 night, but the Storm come up short on OT. They are down 2-0 in their series.
Teasdale with two assists, and the win. Rouyn Noranda up 2-0 in their series.

J CSKA is up 3-0 and on the cusp of giving our young 18 year old defender a nice shiny ring (or whatever KHL champions get). A warm thank you. These are oligarchs we're talking about.

Suzuki with two assists, as Guelph win 5-2 to get back in their series against Saginaw. The series is 2-1 in favour of Saginaw.
Last night, McShane had an assist in Oshawa’s only goal in a loss to Ottawa. The 67s have yet to lose a game in the playoffs and are now up 3-0 in that series.

All four of our CHL prospects play tonight.
Teasdale and Rouyn-Noranda can wrap up their series as they lead Rimouski 3-0.
Suzuki and Guelph are riding a strong game two (still lost in OT though) and even better game three as they look to keep the momentum going in their favour. They are down 2-1 but playing at home. You cannot count the Storm out in the playoffs this season. Just ask London.
Fonstad and Prince Albert are facing a resilient Edmonton Oil Kings team. After a split in PA, the Oil Kings won 5-1 back at home last night. Game four, with yours truly in attendance, goes tonight with Edmonton riding some momentum. PA needs to win to get home ice advantage back, but I will be cheering for the home team tonight to take a big 3-1 lead in the series. At least one team is using Rogers Place for hockey right now!! They even replaced the Oilers logo with the Oil Kings logo at centre ice. Pretty big deal for those junior kids to see the rink symbolically being theirs alone right now.
McShane and Oshawa could very well be facing their last game of the season, down 3-0 against a very strong Ottawa team that has yet to lose a 2019 playoff game. Never say never though, as that is why they play the game.

Suzuki was tenth in the regular season. Not bad but leading the playoffs is more of a team effort in getting there.
Looking at the OHL scoring leaders, I came across an overage player, Justin Brazeau, 21 years old. He was the second highest scorer, built like a mountain and yet, nobody drafted him. He's either got serious issues or his skating i as good as mine. There is no wauy someone with that size has escaped the attention of scouts.
Regardless, the Laffs are looking at him and I wonder why we aren't? Is he that bad? Or a massive diamond in the rough?

Signing overage guys is often risky and the returns (in most but not all cases) don't warrant using up a contract.

Suzuki up to his old tricks. He lead the way and forced another game seven for Guelph.

After surviving the first round scare, they've been excellent. They played the first two rounds and some of round 3 without their #1 center who was out with mono. On paper, there have been more talented Moosehead teams. This one is a real unit. They could have folded up shop in the first round and said, "no biggie, we are in the Mem Cup. We'll take the break and rest." They didn't. They're trying to earn the trip the honest way.

They're trying to earn the trip the honest way. that's the better way to go, too . . .keeps them focused. hard to ramp up to speed after a long layoff. not that I wish them anything good when they play (a bit premature to be thinking the 67s are a lock to get there).

It will be interesting to see what position Suzuki plays next year, in Laval. We've always kind of projected him as a winger at the NHL level, but he's been borderline dominant as a center in these playoffs. With Poehling, Evans, and Vejdemo currently slotted as your top three (and McCarron potentially lurking) it looks like somebody will have to be moved to the wing. Will it be Suzuki, or will it be somebody else? Evans plays the smart, two-way game you'd typically expect from a center, but the cynic in me thinks he has the lowest upside of any of them, so if you're looking to maximize your asset having Suzuki as your second line center might be the way to go.
But that's assuming that Suzuki could still project as a top 6 center at the NHL level. If they really think his future is as a winger, then so be it.

I've been in the camp that expects he'll be shifted to the wing, but Laval is the place to find out if he can be a center. FWIW, Vejdemo is listed as a C/W on elite prospects. I would hope he's given the chance at both the wing and center to get a feel for what he can do and where he's most comfortable. If he demonstrates he is at his best up the middle of the ice, he should be there. He's got far more offensive upside than Poehling or Evans. Groom him for that. Maybe the 1-2-3 punch in a couple of years is KK-Suzuki-Poehling.

Guelph completes the comeback. Suzuki with the GWG. An empty netter to make it 3-1, then Saginaw scored one more. Final was 3-2.

Suzuki is playing exceptional right now. That spinorama backhander off the rush is crazy. I have no idea if he projects better in the NHL as a centre or a wing. But I agree with the sentiment that it probably makes sense to let him play centre in Laval next season unless management is convinced that he only profiles as a top six guy in the NHL on the wing.

I find it interesting that the general consensus is that Poehling and Suzuki are heading for Laval. I wonder how much of that is derived from the Weal/Thompson signings? FRankly, I don't think Poehling needs any seasoning. He's already got a good sized body, a very good IQ and seems to have the right desire and temperament. Would he learn anything more in Laval?
Suzuki is a more likely candidate to work with Bouchard. If his skating is up to snuff, though, I'm very curious to see how he handles training camp and hopefully preseason. He's got all the skill and intelligence. Is he strong enough and fast enough? He's probably the most natural scorer we have in the pipeline and wouldn't you like to have that on display with the big club?
