which I why I don't want the Leafs to lose. I'd normally actively cheer for the Jackets, and especially against this opposition, but I don't want TO in the Laff sweepstakes. Let it be known: I'm not actually cheering for the Leafs to win; I just don't want them to lose THIS ROUND (I hope that doesn't mean I have to turn in my official Leafs Suck card). It's a barn burner tonight in Toronto. Leafs roar out to a 3-0 lead. Tortorella pulls the goalie and his charges wake up and battle all the way back to 3-3. I hate it to fear the planets aligning in the event the Leafs lose the series, but a fan my age has to recognize the lesser evil (i.e. advancing to the round of 16 probably constitutes for them about an 8 percent chance to hoist the Cup whereas losing gives them a 12.5 percent chance at another offensive stud). Your logic makes perfect sense but in my case, I am dealing with decades of dislike & disdain. It's not easy to let it go. Watching them lose in that manner last night was very satisfying. Even this morning, I have to listen to media types talk about how well Toronto played, up to a point.

I admit to confliction. I never want the Leafs to win but don't want them to have a shot at Lafreniere. I never want the Habs to lose but want to have a shot at Lafreniere. So I cheer and groan at every Montreal goal and I cheer and groan at every Blue Jacket goal. That #1 pick looks good, but I'd prefer the Habs draft 31st.

Isles beat Florida 5-1. Panthers out.
Bobrovsky nowhere close living up to that huge contract.

Predators tie game with about 30 seconds to go after a weak clearing attempt by Hjalmarsson. Going to OT.

Boston could very likely play Carolina is the round of 16. I like it. Right now I think the Bruins would have a very hard time dealing with what the Canes bring to the ice each night. With Montreal's luck, it is going to be a hungry stacked Tampa who has learnt from the lessons of last spring. And the frickin' Leafs will get the Flyers. Tampa got swept last playoffs

Chicago eliminates EDM 3-2. Crawford with 41 stops. Oilers shoot themselves in the foot as they try to get the goalie out & get called for too many men in the final 2 minutes.
I'm not surprised as the Hawks still have stars like Toews, Kane , Keith etc from their Cup teams.

2-0 CBJ after 2 periods. Going back to last night, the Leafs have now gone 3 plus periods without a goal.

Columbus is a better team than people give them credit for. I wasn't sure about how their goaltending situation would pan out once Bobrovsky left, but they seem to have some capable pieces back there.

3-0 now. Rielly with a really bad decision there...
What a strange timeline we're in.

Gardiner was Toronto's favourite whipping boy last year, but he's going to the first round with Carolina, whoops.

Spoke too soon--a couple of weak ones and it's 3-3 now.

for some reason I don't think Torts is going to be very happy with the way the game ended

Wow... Riley fakes an injury, ref bites and calls a delayed penalty, Riley gets up gets the puck skates around until cbj touch the puck, leafs win on the PP... what a joke... Torts will be losing his Saperlipopette...

Foligno was the victim on that BS call & he was livid. wouldn't be surprised to see him make Reilly pay in game 5.
I hate these chickensh!t divers. Is that what it's come to for the leafs?

That was a crazy collapse by Columbus.
Hopefully the Habs get the Flyers and Toronto has to tangle with Tampa.
Another thing, tomorrow I imagine that Washington and Boston are going to battle hard to win because the loser gets Carolina. No team impressed me more in the play-in round than the Hurricanes.

That was a crazy collapse by Columbus. I would have expected a collapse like that from the Habs, to be honest. was listening to TSN690 this morning and the suggestion there was that the Habs would do better against TBay. I'm not so sure they'll do well against either, but I think I'd prefer the Flyers. oh, and I'd rather the Leafs just tangle with their golf clubs. wouldn't that sound great . . . the vaunted Leafs missing the playoffs (and not being able to draft Lafrenière, of course) and the Habs in.

Don't know what they are thinking at 690. From the net out, TB is a deeper & more talented team than Philly.
I'd rather have Philly as their opponent.

I have no idea. On top of the motivation issue (Tampa is still angry about last season), the Lightning actually have a assembled a team with a lot of guys who play a heavy game (Coleman, Goodrow, Killorn, Maroon, Paquette, plus quite a few of their d-corps are big guys who can dish it out). Plus, Vasilevskey has entered his prime and has a lot of playoff experience, whereas Hart is still green and lacks NHL playoff experience.

Stamkos not playing due to LBI
Hedman injured his ankle in first period
Currently 2-0 Philly late in first period.
But this playoffs has shown no lead is safe

Lots of possible story lines for the next round
Can Drouin bring it against his former team?
Can Montreal shake the ghosts of Philly past? (2010 still irks me) Will Nate Thompson haunt Montreal? Will Therrien get the last laugh?
Will Montreal figure out what a PP is?
