Well, that caught my attention ... I'm still chuckling ... here's something else for Leaf fans to ponder ... Maclean framed his "be patient" comment in a quote from Fiver the rabbit in Watership Down. “You're trying to eat grass that isn't there. Why don't you give it a chance to grow?"Please. He and his cohorts have gone on and on about the lushness of the Leafs' lawn. But now it needs a chance to grow? Certainly more than enough fertilizer being spread. I remember hearing the "Watership Down" reference, but I tuned everything out after that ... Ron Maclean was actually coddling the Leaf fan base ... they've had a lot of time to "grow" as a team ... now it's just one excuse after another ... Cheers.

Living in the GTA, there is no better day for Toronto sports radio on two different stations then the day after the Laffs are done for the season. lol. it's like Christmas.
My two cents on round 1 CBJ-TB - I expect CBJ to give TB another large scare. I thought this whole format would really benefit the better coach (see Torts vs Keefe). What do you think Torts has been doing for the past 5 months? They have last year's plan and this team may be a better version of what Torts wants. I also think the lower seed will get a 1 game speed bump if they can take advantage of playing real games and not a pretend round robin. I'll say TB in 7 but very close. CAR-BOS - Lots of Carolina love but were the Rangers just over rated. If a team is ready to flip a switch, I can see it in Boston. Hate to say it but B's in 6. NYI-WAS - Going back to the coach angle here and I really like the makeup of this Isle's team. First upset, Trotz in a revenge angle, Isles in 5. CAL-DAL - First goal wins. I think Dallas fairly easily. Dallas in 5. CHI-VEG - As others have said, Chicago will be facing a team with a defensive pulse and a few lines. Vegas in 6. ARI-COL - I think Colorado gets a minor scare here before they prevail in 6. VAN-StL - I think this is the biggest mismatch in round 1. St Louis in 5.
Habs-PHI - Not sure this is the matchup I wanted as I think Philly is my overall favorite in the East right now. That said, I'm hoping this is the Oct to mid November Habs that had 11 wins including wins over Toronto (x2), St Louis (x2), Vegas, Boston and Washington. Not enough though, and Julien is going to Julien. Philly in 6.

Are we doing predictions? Of course we are I'll play. can't believe I'm saying that, I was so opposed to this farce of a playoffs. amazing how your tune can change it your team is in. sort of in, anyway. as 17 . . . wait. Tampa - Blue Jackets. Tampa in 5. the Tort factor inspires for a win. although an upset would be nice. not this match-up though. wait . . . Boston- Carolina. Carolina in 6. look past all those gimmicks and there's a bit of a team lurking. and they work hard. and the Bruins are aging. Isles - Caps. Caps in 5. better team, that's all Habs - Flyers. Wait.... St. Louis - Vancouver. Blues in 6. hard fought series, but the old "the Blues know how to win" is it. Calgary - Dallas. Dallas in 6. all close games. Calgary just not there yet. I'm trying not to discount the Tkachuk factor. Talbot not enough. Avs - Yotes. Colorade in 4. No explanation needed. (quoting 17 who is bang on). Vegas - Chicago. Vegas in 5. somewhere there's a W for Chicago. Habs - Flyers. if there was ever a series where there was a possible upset this is it (and this isn't homerism speaking). Habs are motivated. Drouin and Domi know they need to wake up. as does Tatar, who finally scores. Price stands on his head. and the Habs . . . the Habs lose in 5. they just aren't good enough. and CJ being CJ is just stuck doing CJ things even if they don't work. kinda like the power play. (how can it still be so pathetic?). though I'd love to be proven wrong. and yet we keep being annoyed with the Habs when they lose because, well, it's the Habs, and they shouldn't lose. and the CH. and pride. and when they actually win and honour the CH because they played with pride (or at least with some passion) we get annoyed. let's face it, no team is going to just roll over because of a possible draft pick. so I guess be disappointed in MB and CJ for not playing the wrong players (who knows, maybe Poehling would have gotten a hat trick, or maybe CJ was trying to do the Habs in by playing Belzile). if you're talking about ownership decisions regarding management I cannot disagree. and for what it's worth (though no one's asking me . . . Avs over the Caps in 6 for the Cup. But if the Habs do happen to upset the Flyers . . . naw, still Avs over the Caps in 6 for the Cup. Nice to see you're so agreeable . One other factor I neglected to mention in the Habs Flyers series is that I think the goaltending faced by Montreal will be better than what they saw vs Pittsburgh. By the time Sullivan switched to Jarry it was too late. Habs managed to pick on Murray and on the Johnson/Schultz pairing to great effect. They'll have to find something else against Philly. But who knows, right? No one picked the 2010 Habs to knock off two powerhouses in a row. Unfortunately they then ran into Michael Leighton.

Nice to see you're so agreeable . I tried not to be, but what can I say, when I'm right I'm right. unless, of course, I'm with my wife.

If Toronto doesn’t win the lottery , their pick goes to Carolina. It was top 10 protected

They need to look at their goaltending. Sportsnet put up a graphic this morning ( trying to find it) that showed Andersen is now 0-8 in deciding games. And in the weirdest of all stats: In the cap era, when facing elimination the Leafs have a winning record, and haven’t won a series

New York Rangers ... at least it was a team that was outside looking in

That is true, though New York had a pretty solid season (79 points in 70 games and strangely enough only four teams in the league had more regulation wins than the Rangers).

Ron MacLean suggesting Leafs' fans be patient. Well, that caught my attention ... I'm still chuckling ... here's something else for Leaf fans to ponder ... I wonder if Matthews will wear a mask should he consider harassing women in the parking lot this summer.

Jackets / Bolts going to OT. Period should be starting around 6PM.
Edit:
Going into 2nd OT due to start around 6:45.
The late game will probably be delayed because of the enhanced disinfection policies now in place.
Edit:
Going into 3rd OT, all probably start around 7:25
Edit: they have now played 2 full games & it's now the longest game in Bolts history. Shots 71-51 for TB. The 4th OT will start around 8:10pm.
No idea when the 8PM game is going to start.

The commentator (Brian Boucher?) Was musing about ending these marathons sooner. Perhaps even going to 4 skaters by the 4th or 5th OT period. I'm a traditionalist usually but I think it deserves some discussion.
The Calgary - Dallas game that started at 5:30 eastern time is now over. Flames win 3-2.

Crazy game with TB and CBJ
Hedman is a beast.
Sergachev. Wow. What a horrible trade. I can’t stand Drouin.

Now completed 4 OT periods.
Shots are 87-60 TB. Korpisalo now has the league record for saves in a playoff game.

Columbus not generating much offense. TB with almost 90 shots.
Reminds me of a the time I went to an Expos doubleheader at Jarry Park & the first game went 18 innings.

I'm impressed by the lack of errors & mental mistakes in this game. Both teams are still fundamentally sound.

Jones around 65 minutes now.
Another OT penalty kill for CBJ.
Point scores on their 90th shot I think. Bolts win.
