I have no idea how Columbus dug that deep. This was their fourth game in six days. That has to hurt, no matter how much character your team has. To go that long, that hard and have nothing to show for it. It may have been the turning point of the whole series. Or not. I’m not clairvoyant.

I watched a fair bit of that marathon game and was struck about how well both teams played, especially the goaltending as the game wore on. You expect mental and physical breakdowns at some point, but the teams and goalies just kept getting it done. Korpisalo sets a record for most saves and Jones for most TOI. Most importantly is that Tampa got a huge monkey off their back with a playoff win against the Jackets after last year’s sweep. Oh, and Hedman was the third most used player so he seems to be healthy enough to play (a ton). You have to think that this is a big momentum boost for Tampa going into game two.
And the coolest part of the game...it forces another playoff game to reschedule to the next day (today). Of all the games yesterday, that BOS CAR one was the most interesting for me to keep an eye on to see if the play to date of both teams would continue into this series. I sure hope so, but BOS has to wake up at some point in this series. The Bs getting sent home would be fun though.

The best part of the game for me, was my 14 year old daughter, who really isn't into sports, came into the room and saw that the game was on at supper time, noticed it was in OT and just about to go into double OT, and sat and watched until the Fifth OT with her dad. Then she turned to me and asked if we were going to go outside and watch the Perseids. It's a memory I will always have and it wasn't even a game with any team I like … we missed the OT winner, and due to clouds, we missed the Perseids. Oh well, it is suppose to be clear skies tonight!!

I looked at the 10 longest OTs from 1996-2019 … This would have all games that the OT was 54 mins or longer Of those series, four teams that won the overtime game, won the next game. However, that does include the 3 longest ones (Pitts-Philly in 2000, Anaheim-Dallas in 2003, and Pitts-Wash in 1996) Of the 6 other series, 3 were series ending games, and 3 the losing team won the next game

Based on how the first game has gone, I think Habs, Blues, Isles and Yotes will win today.

I have no idea how Columbus dug that deep. This was their fourth game in six days. I watched parts of it. Not a fan of CBJ. But noticed Seth Jones plays a lot like Weber. Physical dominating. Jones shut down Kucherov same way Weber played Malkin. Positioning and structure are similar. Zone exits same. Wonder if all those year in Nashville, Jones picked up a few tidbits from Weber? Jones is better skater but Weber has a better shot. If I had pick between the two be tough. Jones more highlight player but Weber smarter player and better leader. Weber has made Chiarot, Petry and Kulak better defensemen.

I know what you mean. Weber is good guy for a kid to watch and learn from. But obviously we would have to take Jones, if in some parallel universe we could have him, because he is nine years younger.
The Blue Jackets need to make hay while they can. Jones, Werenski, and Dubois are elite level players. And Columbus, a team which refuses to include July 1 bonuses in player contracts, is going to have to break the bank to get those guys signed long term.

Can Dubois be given an offer sheet, would MB break the bank for him? If we trade Domi and don;t resign Weise that frees up 5.5 plus with 4.5 in cap space that gives us 10 mill to work with... But every time I look at cap friendly or puckepedia, i get sick to my stomach seeing Drouin as the highest paid forward...

Dubois can be offer-sheeted. I have no idea if Bergevin is planning on such a move. Nor do I have any idea if the kid is open to signing an offer sheet from Montreal. My feeling that is that Columbus is in win-now contend mode because Jones is a UFA in the summer of 2022 so being cheap and letting Dubois leave for a handful of magic beans makes no sense from their perspective.
The McCall family might hate the structure of the contract (Dundon hated the structure of the Aho too) they get stuck with but letting him go seems crazy.
It is hard to "steal" an elite young player via the offer sheet mechanism. However, I think if Bergevin is shrewd he could use it to snag a good player or two in their primes from teams that cannot match because of cap troubles. If Bergevin can find the right targets, I would not mind Montreal giving up a 2021 second rounder and 2021 third (Habs would still have Chicago's third) to add a couple of good players in their mid-20s.

BTW.....Kadri was BORN a Habs fan. Just putting it out there.... So EVERYBODY disagrees with my Kadri love? Yeah.....bring it on! Can't stop laughing at that gif. Too bad he's a Pigeons fan..... I have THREE WORDS for all of you. Pierre Luc Dubois. Four 1st rounders is fine by me. That is the way. I have spoken. There is a reason that I wanted.... 1..Dubois 2..Kadri If both were on the Habs today, we would be serious contenders. We could of easily had Kadri. And the Hab morons better offer sheet Dubois.

For sure, all you can do is try. I guess on some date in October, Dubois technically becomes a RFA. So at that point Bergevin could ring up Dubois' agent to get a feel for whether the interest would be reciprocated.
And then if say Dubois put his autograph on a 5 year/$50 million deal (front heavy with maximum allowable July 1 bonuses each year) the next hurdle becomes Columbus' reaction. I may be wrong, but I really cannot fathom why they would let him go.

Columbus won't let him go easily, but I would offer them Kk as heir first of four number 1. The rest they can get from our mid 20 finishes.
I would offer 7/70.
But this will never happen, Bbinz wants to resign Ghally and Petry so he will save those millions for them.
I had fantasies....like Laffy and Dubois destroying the NHL. But alas....

I didn't see the game, my freaking cable isn't working. Thank you Rogers. ( if anybody can provide alternatives not named Bell it would be geatly appreciated.) But you really have to hand it to Columbus. On a short turn around after a devastating loss, they fall behind early but rally to win 3-1.

Dallas gave Tkachuk a taste of his own medicine last night. You live by the sword, you die by it...right Matthew? A very physical game/series. Quite the dramatic third period too. Flames come back with two to tie it late in the third, and then Dallas wins it with 40 seconds to go. Earlier the Flames also had a goal overturned by TO...one of those kicking motion debatable and polarizing calls.
Game three should be a good one.
And Vegas keeps on rolling. It took OT, but they dispatched Chicago with a Reilly OT winner (left all alone in front as a very tired Toews lost his man). The series continues with Sat/Sun games so it could very well be over by the weekend. Patches did not play...”unfit to play”.
Nice to see the Canes even it up with Boston and CBJ bounce back with a win.

I saw the Calagary highlights. They should have won but Talbot was awful on at least 3 of the goals.
And why is Lehner starting ahead of Fleury?

Yeah, it could not happen to a better guy...
Tkachuk is famous for spears. Tkachuk is notorious for charging guys who are already engaged with an opponent. Last night he got it pretty good on both of those counts.
I do not watch many Vegas games, but I guess the numbers suggest that Fleury had a subpar season. If Lehner is their man beyond these playoffs, I have absolutely no idea what they do with Fleury's contract. Two more years at $7 million for a goalie turning 36 years old this autumn. For me they would have to retain close to 50 percent to move it.

Ive got Telus Optik out here in BC (equivalent to Bell Fibe) and am satisfied with it. Stable, good quality. Don't know if Telus operates in your area, or has installed Fibre optic cable (required).
