Bobby Mac saying Martinez to Vegas could be done soon, and then there is this. Wonder what the Devils will get back if they move Palmieri?
Hey, we have a few forwards...

This one happened a few days ago & I can't figure it out: www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1880862Why would Tallon trade with the Leafs, a team he is chasing for a playoff spot?

Bruins pick up Ondrej Kase for their 2020 first, David Backes and prospect Axel Andersson (B prospect). Get some cap relief and, if healthy, a pretty good player. Kase looked really good to me a couple of years ago, but I haven't watched him since. Has missed a LOT of games.

Kase is talented. But it is a little odd that a team undergoing a rebuild does not want to hang onto a 24 year old who is under contract next season and under their control through 2022-23. Injuries have certainly held him back to some degree but he productivity is just not really notable in a wow positive kind of way (basically a career .5 points per game, .25 goals per game).
The way I look at it Kase's market value was essentially a second rounder and that second rounder essentially got bumped up to a first and some defenseman prospect got tossed in there in order to induce Anaheim to take Backes.

Yes. I think it was a salary dump to some extent, but Kase's advanced stats are quite good (I understand). I quite liked his game when I saw him play, but injuries have gotten in his way a lot. If he can stay healthy, it would be a good pickup for Boston.

...interesting... Danault just publicly criticized his coach for his decision on Lehkonen as well as warned his GM that he'd be "pissed off" if Tatar was traded... Berg doesn't strike me as the type of guy who enjoys that sort of talks from his players... Danault is also one year away from being a UFA...

I was surprised (perhaps that's not a strong enough word) to read those comments. Danault is one of the few Bergevin acquisitions I have liked a lot. He's also always been very tactful in what he says. I'd love to ask he what he thinks of KK's usage.

It is not scandalous or anything like that, but it is surprising to hear guys criticizing the scratch of Lehkonen and now Danault phrasing his feelings on what the club may do with Tatar in such strong terms.
I think that the veteran core is exasperated with Julien and Bergevin and this organization's inability to build a winner. However, I am not so sure these guys should be so strident in expressing their opinions because, setting aside the intangible issue of these guys are likable and good dudes, none of them has ever won anything and they are part of a pretty dreadful mark (no playoffs in four of five seasons) on the history of the Montreal Canadiens.

Quiet weekend on the trade front. One would imagine that a bunch of deals are about to get done tomorrow.
I mean, teams like Colorado, Dallas, Calgary, Edmonton, and Philadelphia have added nothing thus far. Also one would assume contenders like Boston, Tampa, Washington, St. Louis, and Vegas may like to gain an edge with one additional acquisition.
And then there are a bunch of bubble teams such as Toronto, Florida, Columbus, Carolina, and Nashville that have deficiencies, which if left unattended, could cost those clubs a playoff birth.
I am not expecting Bergevin to be active but there should be a lot of action around the league.

Jeje, Sakic jumped in the bargain bin. No disrespect to Namestnikov, but I think given his wheels and hands there has always been something missing.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau to NEW YORK ISLES for 2020 1st round pick And 2nd in 2020 and third in 2022. Condition: first rounder is top three protected. Third rounder is if Isles win the cup. Pretty well a first and a second. Huge return for Pageau, and I guess they are hoping for some studs with their top two picks this year.

Ottawa locking in a bottom five finish in 2020-21.
I know that they have the chance to grab one or two elite kids in this summer's draft, but their current existing cast of prospects is not replete with offensive difference makers. They have a lot of nice players but not a stud or two who can drive play.

They have a lot of nice players but not a stud or two who can drive play. They are a number of years away. This draft will help, but they also shed all their salary and difference makers every year. At some point Melnyk will have to pony up to be a playoff team once his your studs mature.

Does Florida not care for Trochek's attitude? I mean, he is locked up for two more seasons at reasonable money and he is a good versatile forward. How in the world does Dale Tallon still have a job? His overall body of work with the Panthers' organization is poor.
