Mysak is a skilled kid, skates well, and possesses more lower body strength than most 18 year old. I like him a lot.
I like Tuch too. It is nice to get a robust winger in the system. It does not look like he possesses great offensive instincts, but he seems like a safe bet to at least solidify a bottom six career in the NHL.
Trading the other second rounder? I would have picked that Cuylle kid but whatever, I guess. I mean, the Habs had already unloaded their two third rounders in this draft so the number of kids was not crazy huge but if Timmins thought no one else excited them much then I suppose that explains it.

Lightning use the pick to select a 6"6 center out of Spokane with NHL bloodlines. Knowing Tampa's great scouting, I sure hope we didn't miss something here

4 4th rounders now. He will flip some of those now too. There are guys available now. Odd move, but one Berg likes to do. All the more reason to package a few of them and get a pick in the third round.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense....Trade a higher second today for most likely a lower second next year and in a worse draft for a meager 4th rounder? I guess the draft team must of seen a drop in levels or all there guys were picked by that time and there list picks up in the 4th round range?

I guess the draft team must of seen a drop in levels or all there guys were picked by that time and there list picks up in the 4th round range? Well, if there's no one you really like on the board, and your pick #57 goes down, at the very worst, to #62, but could also end up #45 if TB has a tougher season next year, it seems like a reasonable trade, moreso since spreading out the picks and the contract slot requirements makes sense.

Its as if Timmins & Co always have a ridiculously long do-no-draft list.
It seems like the same strategy every year. I won't be surprised if the 4th round sees us picking another big winger, a Minnesota kid out of high school, an off the board overager plus maybe another trade down.

I guess the draft team must of seen a drop in levels or all there guys were picked by that time and there list picks up in the 4th round range? I can think of two reasons: * They have to sign these guys by a certain date, so if too many of those prospects all need to be signed at the same time there won't be enough contracts to go around for everybody. We've already seen them let a couple go in former 3rd rounder Scott Walford and former 5th rounder Jarret Tyszka. Spread the picks out a little bit and you don't have to worry as much. * Having multiple second rounders next year gives them some trade deadline ammo. It's not THAT big a drop. Even if the Lightning win the Cup again next year it will be a drop of what? 5 spots? 6 spots? Would anybody have blinked an eye if we had of traded the 57th for 62nd and a 4th? We just pushed it a year, is all. EDIT: Or, you know, what PTH said.

Poirier’s IQ scares me, but i get your point. There are some Q guys like Villeneuve, Dufour and Guay who still can be decent value picks for the Habs.

Up soon again. Make the darn pick, Berg.
Those are ugly draft hats this year.

Savoie has not picked. Maybe he is individualistic on the ice but he is certainly skilled and fire the puck.

Sean Farrell. Small but super skilled playmaker from Chicago. Linemate with Brisson and Colangelo.
4th American kid from 6 picks so far.

Vierling in the early 5th is good value for the Rangers.
Surprised Chromiak lasted that long.
