It's time players used their stick to defend themselves. After all, punching a guy while his head is on the ice is fine, why not an "accidental" stick to the throat.....just another hockey play.....

AND HERE IS A GREAT TAKE....

Good on the Rangers for making such a gutsy call to action against Parros. He's been out of his element since he took on this role. I could never imagine Molson, Berg and the Canadiens organization speaking out so strongly and we've been a frequent victim of Parros' lack of consistency. No one said a word outside of Montreal.. also, if Wilson played for the Bruins would it be such a story? I'll never forgive them for calling the Pacioretty hit a hockey play

I can't recall the last time a team called out the league so severely and frankly, it's way overdue.
Parros is out of his depth along with the other dinosaurs like Campbell and King. His joke of a penalty declares open season and the league has proven again that it doesn't care about player safety. Nothing will change until they clean house but kudos to the Rangers for not pulling punches.

The most valuable team in the NHL is calling out the NHL and Parros.
Now all we need is gutless puke like Mol$on to also call them out as well as the Laffs organization.
When your three most valuable teams call for action, the NHL garbage can't ignore them. Or they could and then all get fired.
The NHL doesn't own the teams, the teams own the NHL. The can do whatever they want whenever they want with the front office of the NHL.

As long a Buttman is the commish, Jacobs calls the shots... somebody needs to clothesline Marchand and see what happens...

Guys, for sure, Wilson is a jerk and a guy who has justifiably been suspended multiple times for egregious open ice head-hunting incidents.
But there are a dozen or two incidents each season worse than this strange spectacle last night. Wilson roughed the larger of the two Russians in a vulnerable position but he did not punch him in the head, with his glove on he punched his shoulder with the poor dude's face on the ice and the fine is clearly warranted. And a normal dude (which Wilson is not) would have turned around and seen that it was Panarin pulling him from behind and said whatever. But for the precedents in the NHL this is all under the category of scrum-stuff and thus in their rule book-case book it simply looks like a dude from one team in a post whistle scrum wanting to wrestle with a dude from the other team.
It's a slippery slope. If guys in front of the net can't blow off some steam, partner up, and wrestle for a few seconds, the product is going to end up looking like NCCA hockey, which if a Habs prospect is not involved, I see as sort of way too sanitized version of hockey to hold my attention.

One can mean and tough, heck, I miss contact bowling, but there are limits when one doesn't punch a guy when his head is on concrete/ice. That crosses from mean and tough to unhinged pshyco.
The NHL has to stop this before we lose CC to some piece of garbage.
Parros needs to be thrown out on his useless ass and someone with common sense and full none bias.

Panarin is done for the rest of the season. So, This was more than just a little pushing, shoving and face washing.

Panarin is done for the rest of the season. So, This was more than just a little pushing, shoving and face washing. another perspective . . . it wasn't so bad . . . Wilson was guilty of taking a couple of shots at Buchnevich, who lay on the ice after battling in the Capitals crease, but it was nothing you don’t see every game.
Wilson could have hurt (Panarin )too, but he didn’t. He peeled Panarin off his back and threw him to the ice. Roughed him up a bit. Panarin lost his helmet. Suffered a scratch on his check.
. . . if you jump into the water with a shark, there’s a good chance you’ll get bit.

This guy is clueless. If it "wasn't so bad" why is Panarin out for the rest of the season?
Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Initially I agreed with this other perspective. But there's one angle that shows a slewfoot when he slammed Panarin down to the ice. It definitely looks like an intent to injure to me and is definitely the most violent part of the sequence. To be honest, I have no idea how Panarin didn't slam his head against the ice without injury. And then to jump on him and continue to lay a beating on his head after that. You need to skip to 3:14 of this clip otherwise you won't see it. The league has had to explain to him repeatedly why he's a danger to the league and he's not getting the message.

I remember Brennan and the rest of the Ottawa media losing their collective Saperlipopette when PK tapped Stone on the hand... but he thinks this is OK? Don is after clickbait...

Garbage clickbait article. If Don thinks this just another scrum, i volunteer to slam him on concrete and pound him. We'll call it rough bromancing.... Or maybe the players should swing that nice weapon they have in their hands. It can terminate any future Wilson antics....permenantly. Funny how they don't have a single comment in that section.

I don't think it's Buttman, I think it's Dolan firing those who don't agree with the statement.
That statement was too loud and too strong to come out of a GM. It came from the top and maybe from Dolan himself. After all, no GM is going to costbthe owners hundreds of thousands in potential fines without the owner knowing about it.
The NHL is in full view as a baby brown stuff now. Well deserved.

An old-school hockey guy like Davidson would never breach protocol in calling out the league publicly like that, nor would he allow his GM to do so. The NYR statement was reminiscent of Senators owner Melnyk sounding off on Cooke after the Karlsson injury.

The NHL... the most bush league sports organization around
They got the rangers back...Puppet Parros is a douche... what is the difference between McDouchebags elbow to KKs head and what Bushnevich did... it's a joke...
How many times had a habs recieved a head shot and there was nothing but a whimper from the DoPS... they flexed their muscle, what will Dolan do?

You can tell from the video that Mantha was coming high with his stick and Bushnovich got him a bit higher. Next up, stick swinging and broken skulls. I'm bettingbghe farm that those carbon fiber stick can crack a skull wide open. Maybe it's time for attorney generals to come in and take a few players away BEFORE this garbage regime let's it get too far. Also notice...fine for Dolan. You don't really want to piss a billionaire off and get him to make NHL life a legal misery. If HE files a lawsuit that the NHL is not protecting the life and health of players, then the NHL is beyond screwed. Those unlimited jury awards can find the NHL into a billion dollar settlement. If I owned the Habs, I would do it, but Canadian settlements are peanuts next to US jury awards.
