An actual true stat. Something for the Leafs to ponder.

I loved that they keep panning to Matthews all the time...

THAT looked good on the Leafs tonight. up 5-1, lose 6-5 in OT Reminded me of this Leafs' loss to St. Louis back in 2000. Up 5-0 entering the third...lost 6-5 in OT. MacInnis and Pronger on the points. While games like these aren't "the rule"...I like watching "the exceptions". Nothing beats that Game 7 collapse against Boston in the playoffs ....

... Steve Simmons making his own headlines, I guess ...

If Steve Simmonns left journalism, the blood pressure of many readers would drop to a nice relaxed, normal level. It's most often a waste of time to read any of his articles.

I saw that... you would think Nylander would come our like gangbusters... I'm watching the game and he hasn't... With Simmons injured they have put Sloe Thornton on the top line... and Sportsnet is highlighting him almost as much as pimp stache...

With no games in the Canadian division last night, I watched a good bit of the Islanders-Sabres game. I know that Buffalo was only in its second game after Covid hiatus (by the way Vegas, Carolina, and Blues came out after their Covid time off like gangbusters) and they just looked like a bunch of dudes that met each other for the first time in the parking lot, drank a few cold pops, and hit the ice to see what's up. My God, the Sabres are so brutal and lifeless.
Krueger is getting absolutely nothing out of the high end talent guys on the roster. They all profess to like him because he is this life positivity guru or something. But is he really cut out to be an NHL coach? I would say no way.
Every GM in the league must be calling Kevyn Adams about Eichel. Bergevin would be no exception. Is Eichel the real deal or is he wildly talented while semi-toxic?

You know, the show where grown men appear with dumb nicknames like Noodles and the O Dog. They say Nylander is not going to the middle of the ice, staying on the perimeter. Sounds kind of simplistic but I don't watch enough Leaf hockey to over an informed opinion. He's always seemed like a nice piece but not a 7 million dollar forward.

I think it has more to do with ownership. The Pegulas have no patience. They fired Tim Murray and Dan Bylsma after just two seasons. And now they cut the scouting staff and put Adams in charge. They need to hire the right people & let them work or else sell the club to someone who will.

Montreal version of Jonathan Drouin as comparable.

Just tuned into the outdoor game in Lake Tahoe between the Knights and the Avs. I have to admit, with the rink right on the shore of the lake with the mountains in the background, it is a stunning scene.
The Avs are wearing Nordiques jerseys with the Avalanche colors. They are a lot better looking uniform than the modified Whalers jerseys the Canes were wearing last night.
Fleury is starting. He is 7-2 with a 1.56 GAA and a 937 save %. I wonder what McCrimmon thinks of that multi year deal he gave to Lehner now.

I thought it wasn't very astute to play Lehner in the playoffs instead of Fleury. Fleury lost the only game he played but he was excellent. Lehner was not very good in each loss. I suspect that if Fleury played the whole series, Vegas would have beaten the Stars.

The game is in delay now, they haven't played since the first period. Looks like ice problems although the temperature in Tahoe is around the freezing mark.

They are replaying the 1st period now & saying the game will resume at midnight eastern time. Good luck getting viewers in that time zone.

Battle of AB. Oil score 5 on 15 shots on Markstrom. McD with five points; Markstrom with an early night. Wow.

Dubois with an impact for the Jets. Two goals including the OT winner and an assist.
In the outdoor game the Bruins win easily, 7-3. Pastrnak now has 9 goals in 9 games since his return.
