Nice business with Oleksiak (5x4.6) and Larsson (4x4). And then you throw in Giordano (lucky very injury free guy for his age), Dunn, Soucy, H. Fleury, Lauzon, Borgen, etc. The Kraken will have a very solid blueline.
I am not sure about the goalies and they look a little thin in terms of where the goals are going to come from up front. But Seattle should definitely be in the mix for the playoff given the weakness of the Pacific Division.

I like their D as well. I imagine that they think Driedger is ready to take the next step and Vanacek will back him up.
I was a little surprised that they passed on Domi as he has a history of good offensive production. I guess someone like Eberle will have to pick up the slack.

Dude was a finalist for the Calder and now he gets traded to the Red Wings? Nedeljkovic to Detroit for a third rounder. I know he let in a couple of bizarre goals in the Tampa series but I think this is good deal for Detroit.
With the stacked roster Carolina has, I have got to imagine they are going big game hunting in the goalie market.

That's a surprisingly low return for a starting goalie.
There should be competition for goalies. Edmonton can't keep relying on Mike Smith, he's 39 now. And I cant believe Toronto thinks they can move forward with Jack Campbell.
EDIT:
After I write this I see that EDM has given Smith a 2 year deal. At that age, really?
And Travis Yost is reporting that the Oilers are going to sign Hyman. They are trying to work out a sign and trade with the Leafs so that the Oilers can give Hyman that eight year.
Goodrow has signed a 6 year deal with the Rangers. No details yet. This guy has done really well for an undrafted player. Two Cups and now a long extension.

Arizona is now officially the contract dumping ground in today's NHL with so little cap liquidity.
They already took Ladd for picks. Now they get a 2022 second rounder and a seventh for Gostisbehere (two years at $4.5 million AAV).

What a sad franchise they have become. Chayka leaves under a cloud and now this, the place to dump bad deals. When you have been traded there it's the end of the line.

Montour could be good signing for us. I remember when he was with the Ducks. He was pretty good. His career fell off in Buffalo but most do. RD can eat 2nd paring minutes.

Read today that the deal also includes the Canes getting the rights to Jonathan Bernier. Doesnt solve anything for them on the goalie front.

Apparently (per Chris Johnston), Jones will be traded to Chicago.
Arizona, Columbus, and Buffalo are just going to be so truly awful.

I am not sure what Carolina is thinking. Yet another RFA probably looking for a relatively modest raise gets dealt (apparently Fogele is as good as traded too). I guess Waddell is under orders that #5-7 d-men have to make the league minimum.

I thought Carolina has Cup aspirations. Now they go back to their penny pinching ways.

It is strange that Buffalo got better value for Ristoleinen than Reinhart considering both are UFAs next summer.
Young goalies are voodoo so that kid Levi is not really a huge piece. And since the Panthers have a pretty stacked roster, I imagine the first rounder will be around #20-23. And that is all they got.

And Reinhart is a solid 20 goal guy. He's hit twenty in five of his 6 seasons, including the just ended shortened season.
You're absolutely right, a 1st is not much of a price to pay for a guy that consistent.

Florida is now Team 2014. Three of the top 4 picks in that draft, are now on Florida ... #1, #2, and #4 overall And #3 is better than them all put together ...
