Arizona taking more bad contracts. Florida just dumped Stralman (one year remaining at $5.5 AAV) on the Yotes and had to give up a second rounder to get that cap relief.
This is good news for Juulsen. It is now or never for him. He has played so little hockey the last three years, I am honestly not sure he can make up, developmentally, all the time he was sidelined.

Ovechkin signs a 5 year extension with an AAV of 9.5 with about 30 million in signing bonuses. I can see the $ amount but the term is long for a guy who will be 36 in September.

Now Landeskog has reupped with the Avalanche. 8 years at 7. Would have been nice in Montreal..
Twitter rumor.. grain of salt.. Danault to the Knights for 6 years at 6.5, which is crazy to me... We'll see

We'll see Landeskog would not have signed for that number outside of Denver. McKinnon is already on record saying he would take less on his next deal to keep this group together. This is what Shanahan dreamt about in Toronto. Giuys who will give them a home town discount. Instead he has 3 forwards making over 10 million each.  I heard that Danault rumor too. That $ amount is for guys that can score, like Bergeron. You don't give money like that to a guy whose career high is 13 goals. And why are they chasing a shutdown centre? They won the Jennings trophy last season. They are already the best defensive team in the league. |

Zadorov is a bone crusher, but that is about it.
Carolina traded Fogele for Bear. I like both players. I am not quite sure how Edmonton's blueline is going to hold up defensively with a rookie (Bouchard), Barrie, Keith, and Ceci all in the lineup.

I know that you cannot really argue much with Vegas' results since they came into the league, but McCrimmon makes some decisions that are hard to understand. They have plenty of good wingers, yet he wastes a third round pick on Dadanov and somehow Ottawa did not even have to eat part of the $5 million cap hit.
I bet Danault's heart sank when he saw that news.

I thought McCrimmon's treatment of Fleury was shabby. Chicago wasnt even on his list and he dumps the Vezina winner for nothing like he's a washed up has been.

And now apparently the league will be looking into allegations that Evander Kane bet on games his own team (San Jose) played in. I bet the bunker boys (Molson, Bergevin, Timmins) are hoping this story has real legs because the media will certainly be feasting on this if the allegations warrant an actual investigation.

I know Kane has some serious money problems but could he be that stupid?
Saw something on a news ticker this morning that really surprised me about this - that the allegations were made by Kane's wife and she claims he actively tried to lose games. They are involved in a messy divorce and there is a child involved.
