How selfish can you get? He put his childish impulses ahead of his team & now the Bruins will suffer. Cassidy needs to get him behind closed doors and blast him. I'd be tempted to give him a club suspension for being such an a hole. It is crazy, because he is a very good player when he draws between the lines. The counter is the well documented fact that he just can’t stop himself when it comes to really stupid moves out there. A chronic repeat offender. Boston has a cushion with one of those two wild card spots due to the rest of the East being bad, but I could see it erode with their top guys out for a bit. |

What happened to that bump they were supposed to get with Kane?  They have lost their last 2 games by a total of 8-1. Their defense is lacking and Keith wobbled off after hitting the boards really hard. He actually looked unconscious for a moment. He will likely be out for a while. I wonder if Draisaitl and McDavid regret those long term deals now? |

A much better defensive effort by the Oilers last night with a 3-1 win over the Isles. A throwback to the 80’s clash of the titans.
Seattle also won a rare game. They sit in the 3rd spot at the bottom of the standings. Weirdly though, their 16 wins are double the Habs’ 8. You know your season is bad when…

Just an observation, not looking for any serious analysis - how is Minnesota 2nd in the Central and 8th overall with John Merrill and Jordie Benn on D?  |

Minnesota has a nice blend of skill and heaviness. Regarding the two illustrious d-men that you mention, jkr, I would say that it helps to have an elite top 4 on the blueline and then other marginal guys can just focus on doing their job. Benn is probably their #7 when everyone is healthy. Merrill has been steady.

It's a reminded that a lot of this league is roughly equal. Both Benn and Merrill were decent enough, but it's the best players on a team, those who are played in various crucial game situations, that make or break a team, in general. |

Matthews leads the league in goals scored but the actual scoring leader is McDavid - as usual. I turned it on at the end if the 2nd and saw Matthews score a ridiculously easy goal. The Wings player just stood several feet away and watched it. It was 7-2 at that point. Turned it on later and it was 7-6, than 8-6, than 8-7. Crazy. I guess there was no talk of how Campbell's play has been in the toilet over the last 20 games or so. If the Leafs think they can go anywhere with Campbell and Mrazek in goal behind that D they are the ones that are delusional. |

Davidson gets the job officially in Chicago. Guess Darche was bridesmaid again. With all the GM vacancies now filled, will Hughes start to round out his front office now? I expect nothing will happen until the off-season on the top job for the scouting ranks, but they are planning on beefing up parts of the hockey operations side of things.
