Laval definitely in a huge hole in their best of three play-in series against Utica. They lost game one 4-0 at home last night. They now head to Utica for games two and three (if necessary). Not the start most expected after such a great run of late to get into the playoffs.

Interesting info on the inner working of how a ECHL works I hope they can figure it out. I think I read that the Lions and the Growlers share a owner so they know should know what to do. Growlers and Marlies seem to have a great relationship. Having LNAH in their backyard seems like great convenient resource I hope they can tap onto.

Caught back on their heels right off the bat. Even the Laval crowd couldn’t get them going.

It is over. 2 seconds away from a win. Tough ending in OT.

I did not watch the game. But man that is wrenching to have the win slip away with two seconds on the clock.
The hot streak down the stretch was a positive signal from the group as a whole, particularly Primeau, among others. But the Rocket started slow this season even before the Habs injuries created havoc for both rosters. If Houle is coming back (he has a year remaining on his contract), then he needs to understand the pieces at his disposal and mold them into a functioning team a lot of quicker.

I just read the wrap up of the game on the EOTP website. I noticed that Simon Nemec who was picked just after Slafkovsky was playing for Utica last night. I didn't know that recent draft picks could play pro.

I didn't know that recent draft picks could play pro. He was drafted from Europe, so the NHL-CHL-AHL age restriction of 20 years of age does not apply. A few other Euro first rounders also played in the AHL this past season.

Laval’s locker clean out interviews gave some inside info:
Seems like Richard and Beaudin want to come back. I imagine the feeling is mutual. Both are talented born in Quebec and fit the identity that Houle is trying to create in Laval. Bourque sounded like he wanted to come back as captain but he left the door open about looking elsewhere.
Schueneman and Martel likely leaving. I think the writing is on the wall for both guys. Both guys are playing in positions Laval/ Habs got tremendous depth. Both where good soldiers. They deserve a chance to play and Schueneman likely would get more NHL games on a different team IMO.
Houle thinks roster wasn’t a “playoff” ready lineup. Tons of scoring and skill on both the forward and defense cores but I get the feeling they want size. They are undersized and got bullied in their 2 playoff games. I remember they were not happy when it happened last year in the playoffs too.I don’t think the answers coming from the upcoming prospect group so they likely looking at Free Angency.

The start of roster changes as two D leave for Europe. Lots of new prospects coming into the team, so there will be quite the roster turnover by the start of the season.
