I like Pelletier but, yeah, he is not a priority for the reason you mention. However, I would trade Gallagher (50 percent retained) and the Flames 5th rounder (we currently have possession of it) for the kid. Jeje, I imagine Treliving would hang up on me.

Bettman with another absurd hot take. Just like how well those digital board ads are loved by all, right Gary?

Well, okay, I suppose as Chief of the Integrity Police then naturally Bettman chooses to find the integrity of the game to be impeccable. Of course, common sense and eyeball test say that teams do indeed tank.
The weighted lottery makes it impossible to guarantee that a tank mission ends up precisely where it wants to. But the weighted lottery certainly does not create a disincentive for tanking, particularly when there is generational talent(s) in the draft.

Maybe if he would have said that players don't tank, there would be some accuracy to his statement. But teams obviously tank. I mean come on, Bettman... what do you call a rebuild?

Tocchet is finding out what Boudreau knew....Rutherford, and Benning before him, have screwed up the roster, and Demko getting hurt was a killer. Demko is close to returning, so that will help Mr. Tocchet, but after Hughes, there's not a lot of quality at the back end.

Am watching the Bruins/Canes game with the Canes leading 1-0. The pundits (as I call everyone on the Bruins broadcast crew) are 'commenting' that the Bruins aren't playing like they did earlier in the year. They're making it seem like its so simple. You just play like you did and you will continue to dominate. There is one tiny flaw with that approach. The reason they're playing like they are now is because they played like they did early on.
One of the great mythic statements (IMO) in soccer, is to 'let the ball do the work'. I understand the underlying thinking. It means that the ball is moving quickly so it's hard for the defense to keep up and maintain their shape, or defensive structure. I agree with that, but I understand that in order for the ball to move quickly and therefore to do all that work it is reported to do, there has to be someone open to get the ball to. And, strangely enough since transporters haven't yet been invented, a player has to work hard to create that space. So the ball working hard is nothing more than the team players working hard. That's what the Bruins did early in the year. As we know, ad infinituum, the pace picks up in the NHL, either in 20 game or 30 game segments. The Buins don't have a lot more to give as they were already playing near their (tachometer) red line. It's now 2-0 Canes and Jack Edwards just said "the Bruins are being beaten to loose pucks". Maybe if they had the talent of the 76/77 Habs, they could win games playing at 80%. They don't. They can't. Case closed.
(Now watch the jerks come back and win the game).

Obviously with the dearth of games tonight my son and I were watching the Bruins-Leafs. Solid game, for sure. Bruins were the better team, but both teams skated hard and competed for pucks in all three zones.
Unfortunately, though, my lasting impression of the game was Buntingās antics. This dude got cut across the bridge of his nose and neither ref saw it. Okay, deal with it and move on. But no, Bunting is screaming at the ref while still on the ice. Meanwhile, the wanker himself got away with a slash or two but hey that cannot be poor officiating, can it?
And then on a breakout in the third period, Marchand separated the puck from Buntingās stick with a sneaky hold on his top hand. And Bunting goes berserk, raising both hand high the air, gesticulating at the ref, literally frothing at the mouth. What the frick does this clown think he is ā Godās gift to the NHL? This is a joke. So what if the refs missed a call. He is crossing a line that even superstars do not cross. Heck, Mario was easily top five all time in this league and a pure joy for hockey fans to watch, and he played a good portion of his career in the clutch and grab era, putting up with all kinds of crap, and he never acted like a clown showing up the refs and engaging in cheap theatrics like this dude who was in the AHL two years ago.
Bunting is an embarrassment. I do not really care if his coach publicly dresses him down, but if Keefe sees himself as a steward of this great sport, then he should privately tell this dude to cut it with this ****. Not in the least because this is a cowardly puke that not only demeans the refs he also whacks and stirs the pot and yet has zero fights in his NHL career.
I reminded my son tonight that hockey deserves intensity and also integrity.

I came to post on the Bunting crap but you guys beat me to it. This guy is a complete tool and a failed prospect that had the good fortune to play with Matthews and Marner and when Matthews was having an incredible year. He has no self awareness at all - he doesn't realize that he is where he is through an incredible stroke of luck. I'm surprised that no one on the bench told him in no uncertain terms to sit.the. f---.down.
I cant imagine Shanahan was pleased & he was probably embarassed by the tantrum. Bunting doesn't realize that guys like him aren't that hard to find. Dubas is probably wishing he had found the money to re-sign Zach Hyman. He should be in their offices right now listening to someone scream at him.
The best comment I read under the youtube clip was " has anybody called the WAAAmbulance"
And Folatre, I dont expect anything from Keefe. I was watching the Leafs play the Blues ( at the home of a Leaf fan). At the end of the 3rd there was a similar non call. Well, Keefe was at the front of the bench just screaming at the refs. His head looked like a fricking tomato. It was embarassing but at least it got him fined 25K.

They donāt make old hockey barns like they used too š. Somewhere is Sasky, I believe. That stairwell is awesome ... I remember a rink buried deep in Westboro, Ottawa, when I was growing up (late 60s) and the 'Zamboni' resembled this one, though it didn't look this pretty ... the guy didn't wear skates, he wore homemade spikes that were strapped to his feet ... I still remember the 'click-click-click' as he walked by us making new ice ...
