The intent was clear. He could have broken his arm. He needs to be gone for at least the rest of the series. |

Completely agree. I think Pietrangelo was cross checked a number of times before that, raising his anger point, but there are limits to retaliation. It reminds me of Perezhogin's reaction to being viciously cross checked numerous times and then clubbing that Marlie player. Warranted, but an over reaction and he got suspended for 40 games or something like that?. Anyway, a 3 game suspension sounds about right. They an suspend Kane for a game for his antics, too.

Reminiscent of Clarke on Kharlamov in terms of a slash intended to injure. That's not hockey...it's deliberate assault. Oh, but (the announcers say) Pietrangelo has taken a lot in the this series...so this is a little bit of payback. Wrong. With the exception of Kane deliberately coming in high on him in Game 3, the rest have been tough LEGAL hockey plays. |

Yes, I mean 2 playoff games would equal 4 regular season games on the playoff calculator. I wasn't clear on that.
If he did that in the regular season, I could see a 4-5 gamer...

I wish I could pick up U.S. broadcasts of games because impartiality is so lacking on HNIC. They can't give an opinion without pandering to the Toronto audience.
They start talking about the Panthers game tomorrow. Bieksa starts by saying that home ice hasn't been good to teams so far but the Leafs should use the energy of their crowd. He neglects to mention that Toronto is 1-4 at home so far in the playoffs.
And Dallas Eakins sounds like he is auditioning for another job in the Toronto organization.
He starts with the old cliche - all the pressure is on Florida. Really? A team that hasn't won a Cup in 56 years & is on the verge of elimination faces no pressure? Then he slags the Panthers by saying the only reason they made the playoffs is because Pittsburgh wasnt good enough. Duh! Thats the way the playoffs work. That he doesnt know that explains why he has been a failure as a coach. The only reason he is on the panel is that he coached Anaheim to the bottom of the league and they fired his sorry a$$.
No one seems to want to mention that Toronto has not been all that impressive this playoff. They've won 5 games so far but needed OT for 3 of those wins and they are on a 6 game streak of scoring just 2 goals per game. Please just some balance once in a while - is it too much ro ask?

Florida was buzzing the Toronto d-zone in the first period and a good portion of the third. I love Barkov and would take him on the Habs in a heartbeat, but that guy can be frustrating because he really has a tendency to overpass when he has beauty chances to snipe and/or take the puck to the net.
Not to take anything away from Woll, but I thought the Panthers got way too cute in the first looking for the highlight reel tick-tack-toe sequence.
Pietrangelo has never been suspended before? Interesting. I guess he carries the lifetime membership card to 'whack and crosscheck opponents as needed' card in his wallet.

I haven't seen a lot of Canes playoff games but Andersen seems very solid. With the Leafs it was always a matter of time before he would allow a crushing goal at a crucial time.
