If you think this league has its head up its butt about goalie interference, have a look at the goal they allowed in Toronto.
Giordano shoots the puck AFTER the net comes off the moorings & they allow it. Unbelievable.

I'm watching the game too & I saw that. No penalty of course. Yet earlier in the game a Jersey D man gave Motte a shove on the seat of pants & got called. The Devils are not giving the Sens any time or space. Three minutes into the 2nd period and it's now 3-0 NJ. They are smothering the Hens... tkajerk is getting frustrated I believe everyone knows the low opinion I have of the Tkachuk family regarding team success. Last night was another example. Matt has a strong night, but the team ends up losing. Maybe it's not their fault directly, but man, when teams don't succeed with a Tkachuk on the roster, it gets you thinking. Speaking selfishly, I was pleased when Matthew was traded to the Panthers, having their first pick this year. |

The Panthers lose 5-3 to Columbus of all teams. They are now in 16th place overall and have lost 3 in a row. I have high hopes for the Panthers. I foresee both the Habs and Panthers coming up big in the lottery with the Habs getting two of the top 5 picks. Book it.

If this was the plan all along, he should have been back in the OHL ages ago playing loads of hockey not stagnating. |

This was a topic on 32 thoughts and the reasoning went like this:
Kingston was not going to be a contending team so sending him down to the OHL was not ideal, at least not until January 1 (more on that later)
Seattle has been relatively healthy up front and (this part is me speculating) the ownership was tired of all the losing, so Francis had a goal of winning ahead of development. With no injuries there was no opportunity for Wright. As we've seen with the 2022 crop, none of them are really ready for the NHL this year.
Now back to that January thing. There seems to be some rule in the OHL about trading people before January. The Kraken, and Wright no doubt, would prefer he be traded from Kingston to a Memorial Cup contending team. So Seattle has kept him in a holding pattern until now, probably to preserve the 3 year entry contract thing. So now....he gets sent for a 2 week conditioning stint, which is allowed by NHL rules, which then lines up with the WJC, which would then take him into January of 2023, where he could be sent to Kingston and so on and so on. It all makes sense. If he had played better, none of this would be an issue, but we're seeing how tough it is for Slafkovsky, who has 30-40 pounds on Wright and plays a less demanding position.
Putting on my contrarian hat, wouldn't it be crazy if Wright doesn't crack the WJC line-up? I don't know who he'd be competing against, but Beck has to be one and Kidney another. Bedard, Fantilli and probably one or two more. It's not a given. Who would we rather see make the team? Chuckle.

The Devils beat the Oilers 5-2 for their 13th in a row. The Isles beat the Leafs in OT. I believe Toronto is now 1-5 in extra time. Both of these games feature some poor puck handling by the losing goalie.

Currently on a trajectory to pick at #13 judging by win percentage (or 10 spots higher if the lottery comes up in their favor). Habs actually have a better win percentage than the Panthers at the moment. |
