Marner sets a Leafs' record...19 consecutive games with at least a point. It might be just a prolonged hot streak....but he's gotta be in the Hart conversation at this point. Earlier this season he appeared to be in the dog house. I don't know about that. He's not in the top 10 in scoring and he's 10th in assists. Those aren't the type of stats that get you a Hart nomination.

But when it comes to Toronto, streaks, goals, and team records count.

The problem with Domi is not his lack of top six offensive skill. But there are reasons he has become a hockey journeyman (too woeful defensively to play centre on a team trying to win games, not as mean or physically inclined as he was advertised to be when he came into the league, runs afoul of coaches).

I only noticed this earlier this morning when I was researching GDTs, but here are the stats for Josh Anderson and Max Domi, as of this morning ...
| Games Played | Goals | Assists | Points |
|
|
|
|
| Josh Anderson | 22 | 5 | 2 | 7 |

Lost in the Toronto hype is that Jason Robertson now has an 18 game point streak & Kaprizov has a 12 game point streak and a 6 game goal streak.

I'm never sold on a goalie until they can keep up a short term performance over a much longer period. Same thing with Oettinger, though he is showing to be the real thing. Binnington follows in the footsteps of quite a few goalies who were 1 hit wonders (or 2 hit wonders in the case of Matt Murray. These guys continue to show that having an elite goalie is not necessary at all to win a Cup. A little above average goaltending (Kuemper) or a hot streak (Binnington, Niemi, Murray).

Hudon & Galchenyuk dressed for Avs tonight. The lineup looks pre-season like.

Is Wright only being recalled because his conditioning stint is over? And is hd actually going to play?

The conditioning stint loophole can only last for five games. So basically I imagine now Wright will be in and out of the Kraken lineup for the next ten days before going to the WJC. It seems very likely, whether Hakstol likes it or not, that Wright will be in the lineup tomorrow night against the Habs. And then Hakstol will probably make him a healthy scratch in most of the other games.

So what is this thing with Wright playing tonight? Some sort of revenge thing for not drafting him? Did the Kraken play him against Arizona & Jersey? They passed on him too.
It would have been a more meaningful gesture to play him when his grandparents were in Seattle but Francis & Hakstol botched that one.

Man, I have no idea. I agree, it all seems kind of overblown. All I can come up with is that the kid really wants to play against the Habs and Ronnie Francis figures okay I'll throw him a bone here.

So 'No Shane you're not playing when your grandparents flew in to see you play but we'll put you on the ice when the team that didn't pick you come to town' sounds like the kraken are a team first only

I don't know, but maybe someone got injured and it opened a spot? Seattle has a lot of slightly better than average players. Guys discarded because they weren't good enough at their positions (or had a bigger contract) but they were decent players. And Seattle has a lot of them. No one elite (Beniers is getting there), but lots of ok players.

Of course Wright has to score his first Yeah, but Slaf countered with a key assist on our 3rd (and game winning) goal.

Of note last night, Thompson scores 5 as the Sabres pound Columbus 9-4. He now has 21.

Thompson is a revelation. He had his breakthrough season at age 24 and now one year later Thompson looks like a star. Good on Granato for believing in him.
I still think Buffalo and Ottawa could pass Montreal in the coming weeks, but Philadelphia and Columbus look like mortal locks to finish 14th and 15th in the East.

Looking at the schedules, MTL has the easier schedule from now until Xmas. If they play to their potential MTL should enjoy being in a playoff spot over the Xmas break. *side note: I’m doing everything I can to jinx it for the Bedardians*

Good on the jinx, Skilly.
I have not looked at it game by game. But I know off the top of my head that Montreal has played Toronto, Boston, Tampa, and Florida a grand total of one game combined. So literally more than a quarter of the remaining games this season are eminently loseable ones against the more experienced and talented rosters in the Atlantic.
