Boston leading Florida 3-0 in the first. Possibly the only time I would ever cheer for the Bruins.
Florida is 18th overall with 5 other teams closing in. A top 10 draft pick is a possibility.

Glad you are cheering for the B’s for the rest of us, so we don’t have to! Man, I hope Florida’s tough schedule keeps them outside looking in. I drool over another good first round pick in this next draft. When you trade for a first at the deadline, it is almost always a very late round pick. This would be such a rare treat.

If the draft was held today, we’d be drafting 10th and 13th

Have faith Skilly, Nashville and Ottawa have games in hand. And the core of those teams are not going anywhere and they will keep working to win games. However, Vancouver is giving off a vibe/stench that suggests indifferent hockey will be in the forecast for the remainder of the season.
Speaking of Vancouver, did any of you guys see the ludicrous trade proposal by Ryan Dixon on Sportsnet? Montreal acquires Horvat (presumably signed long-term) in exchange for Savard, Beck, Struble, Panthers 1st rounder, and Habs 4th rounder. Even if one really thinks the world of Horvat (which I don't), this dude does not seem to understand that Montreal is not going to the playoffs this season and next season would be a long-shot too. What incentive does Montreal have to overpay for someone who does not move the needle much in the short-term and saddle itself with a bad pricey contract that will take the player into his mid-30s?

I did not see that trade proposal but 5 pieces for Horvat? I like the guy but man, that's a huge overpayment.
Did anyone hear Friedman last Saturday? He was talking about Vancouver. They dont want to do a rebuild, they want to " breathe new life" into the team. Everyone is available except Petterson. That would include Quinn Hughes. My ears really perked up when I heard that.

With the Habs win in Arizona, the standings around them did not change much since STL, NSH and BUF also won. DET picked up a loser point too. Only VAN with their whimpy effort in a 5-1 loss and idle OTT (with games in hand and will be much better when they get their top two centres back) lost ground against the Habs. I might have to add VAN into that list of stinky teams the Habs may not catch in terms of draft positioning.

Yeah, I saw that trade proposal too and almost spit out my water when reading it. Also, Horvat is a UFA so why would we give that much up? It doesn't make any sense. My counter offer is you get all that but you have to take Brendan Gallagher and we have to sign Horvat before completing a trade.

At this point in the HuGo tenure why would they want a 27 year old who will expect major dollars

Unbelievably sad for all these families.
What the tweet doesn't mention was that Mr. Panza's partner, a condo board member, was also killed.
So senseless.

Boy, the Bolts haven't shown up tonight. Halfway through the 2nd, Toronto is ahead 2-0 & TB only has 5 shots.

The results on the ice are not yet to be seen. But Dorion keeps grinding away at signing guys he envisions as key elements to the Sens' core. Zub opts not to go the unrestricted free agency and takes a 4 years/$18.4 million deal.
I like Zub, though of course he is never going to be mistaken for a d-man with serious offensive skill. I think Dorion got a fair deal done, considering he avoided serious term for a guy who would have been UFA.
However, I believe part of the reason it became imperative to keep Zub relates to the fact that some of Ottawa's young d-men who were first round picks (Brannstrom, Bernard-Docker, Thomson) and are now 22-23 years old do not appear to have the ceiling the organization originally projected.

How many seasons until Laffy is considered a flop? I would think he could become available in trade soon but then what is his trade value?

Coyotes beat the Leafs 6-3 last night. Two reasons this is good news. A team below the Habs won & for the 2nd time this season Arizona beats Toronto in regulation.
And there's a new contender for the worst team in the league - Columbus is now only 2 points ahead of Chicago.
