Our early New Years games. If I remember right, we seem to lose these every year

I can predict 2 things... Ovie will score at least 2 goals and there will be a few Ukrainian flags in the stands

In keeping with our most recent 11-game stretch, Allen will have to steal it.
7/22 pts...all on the back of stellar goaltending.
Allen: .939 (2nd star; 4-2 W @ Seattle. Our only regulation W.) Allen: .971 (1st star; 2-1 SOW vs. Calgary) Monty: .949 (2nd star; 3-2 OTW @ Arizona) Allen: .944 (3rd star; 2-1 OTL @ Colorado)
Scoring has dried up. 21 GF in those 11 games--not counting the shootout winner vs. Calgary.
EDIT: I'm not complaining. The only thing literally STOPPING our complete fall is between the pipes.
Painful but necessary, IMO. Our current core and farm don't constitute a future contender.

I'm waiting for the Suzuki injury report... there is something wrong with him...

If Suzuki is hurt enough to dry up his scoring/effectiveness for this long, it makes no sense to play him and risk further injury.
Could simply be a slump...or...teams are keying on him and we don't have the personnel to work around it.

This is the fear I had with a full out tank. Players just stop caring. And players that stop caring when the L’s start to come day after day are typically players you don’t want to go to war with. Nothing creates bonds and high team morale like winning. Nothing beats winning

I have fewer medical credentials than Dr. Recchi, but for me Suzuki does not look hurt.
I think, basically, aside from the goalies in the first three games of the road trip, no one else on the Habs has played well on the trail of tears. So the problem seems to be too many young guys losing the plot (hitting the wall) at the same time in what always promised to be a long season.
I question and complain about line combos, power play tactics/personnel, etc. But I am not losing patience whatsoever with St. Louis. I still have plenty of time for Marty. Maybe if the team is garbage on 30 December 2023, then I may feel sour and start throwing darts.

And winning this year means we will be a middling team for years... this is the year to suck I hate being "okay" with losses...but I just don't see another way to get elite, generational talent. (Albeit no guarantees, I know.) I don't think there's a WGAF attitude (good one, Skilly!) with the young core...but the veteran support players are another story. Could be attitude with them, or they're simply not good enough. There are a lot of interchangeable parts players in the NHL. Gotta find the right combo. Whatever it is, the young core can't overcome it. Key on Suzuki and Caufield...and our offense dries up. Our D is green, too... Anyway...it serves no purpose for me to repeat a low-expectations stance, so no more from me on that front. Happy New Year, guys!

The vets who know they will not be around when the rebuild takes hold are the WGAF gang. Not only would most players in this position adopt such an approach but when you're psyche never has been a BTTW type player, it gets even worse. Stand up if your name is Hoffman, Drouin, Dadinnov, Dvorak.

We're a bad team with a normal number of injuries b) the chances of making the playoffs are slim and none c) It's considered a very good draft year Simply put: There's nothing we can do about the losing. We're going to lose our share of games, so we should not waste this year. Management needs to put us in the best position to use the losing to improve the team for the future. Trading vets who can't contribute to winning in 2-3 years time should be moved for other assets. I know this theme has been repeated over and over, but we can't afford to waste a year where where are thoroughly non competitive. I applaud Kent Hughes' desire to acquire a 3rd first round pick.

Anderson with a direct giveaway...and clueless on the ensuing coverage. Back on MUTE. Garry Galley's enjoying it way too much.

I guess sportsnet figures having a hab hater is ok... how come they don't have leaf hater on leaf broadcasts... can't wait until the sportsnet contract is over... TVA blows compared to RDS

Dach alone in the high slot and rushes a shot 6 feet wide. Had time and space to walk in a bit.

Drouin , Anderson, AND another each had a perfect 15 foot chance to score and each shot it wide.
Exhibit A of "How I met Connor Bedard"
