Yeah, Arizona is playing Chicago tonight and the Blackhawks may be the only team in the league on a worse run than the Habs in the last ten.
The Blues are facing an uphill struggle to stay within contact of the pack for the playoffs. But to their credit they have been digging deep lately.
Montreal is in a dark place since the page turned to the middle third of the season. I feel for the ticket buying fans. It is a major outlay of cash and the game scenarios are not pretty. On the one hand, if the boys take some risks and open it up, most teams in the league are going to blow their doors off. On the other hand, if the boys clog the neutral zone to make it a low event game, the fans are bored.

Have to cheer for the Red Wings and Yotes

Too bad, Arizona lost. I watched parts of the Red Wings-Panthers game. Florida played some desperate hockey. Yzerman upgraded the rosters with a bunch of vets (Copp, Perron, Kubalik, Sundqvist, Chiarot, Maatta) and Detroit does play a steadier brand of hockey than they have over the last few lost years. However, these vets are complementary pieces, not impact NHLers. So it seems the young core that needs to find that next gear (assuming they even have it) in order for Detroit to return to the playoffs.

Very possible we are the 4th worst team in the league by the end of the week, and 3rd worst by the end of the month. JUST LOSE BABY! Assuming Fla can't turn things around, we would then have some pretty good odds for Bedard.

I see in tonight's lineup Slaf is on the 2nd line with Dvorak & Anderson. I don't know if this is noteworthy but just in case it is.

Blue Jackets get the improbable shoot-out W over the visiting Canes.
Good for the cause.
EDIT: As improbable as the Sharks beating the visiting Bruins tonight....

Is it true that you get ED if you want the team to keep losing? Because these days, that's all I'm hoping for...

Is it some sort of curse for wanting them to lose?😀

Habs broadcaster describes a Xhekaj backhander from his corner across the middle of the ice to a forward at our RW blue line as a ‘dangerous’ pass. I see the same thing where the Blues had cut off anything along the board as terrific vision and perfect transition execution. Two different viewpoints.

And successful. The Blues weren’t expecting it and they took away other options. The key was the mustard on that pass. I see a ton of potential in Mr WiFi. His passing is pretty damn good.

So the Habs are facing the good Binnington tonight, not the guy that's played like crap for long stretches of this season.
Binningron stops Slagfkovsky on the breakaway and the Blues come back and score on a 2 on 1 .

Did he just say that was Toropchenko's first goal since October 31? Figures.
The puck is turned over after Anderson can't get Xhekaj's pass. Not sure who to blame that on. What about you 17?

A good forecheck by Anderson leads to a Montreal PP. And it comes up empty as the number 32 PP is likely to do.

I feel Anderson was as much to blame as WiFi gor that goal. He looks at Wifi and them turns away as Arber passes the puck. It was tipped a bit but if Anderson is looking for that pass he could have picked it up.
Is this Galley in the booth? He has an infatuation with the boards. Don’t make the best play. Just make a play.
Good work by Josh to draw a penalty. GM’s please take note.

Drouin always seems to make the wrong pass. It’s the main reason I hate him on the PP point. Very hard to one time a pass that’s going to your backhand . Passing a puck back to a guy who has 3 inches of room at the blueline is ill advised (thankfully Suzuki kept it in and got it back to Drouin) .
Caufield was open for a Dach, and Drouin pass.
I don’t mind Drouin shooting. But with his defensive “prowess “ it HAS to get through.
