Armia, of all cats, opens the scoring. Roy, with his first pro goal, makes it 2-1.

Laval loses 7-4. Outshoot Abbotsford 31-21 bur giving up 1 goal every 3 shots not looking good on Dobes.

Still lots of young prospects to watch in the lineup, but I thought having a good training camp meant a bit more than apparently Houle does (I think my views on Houle’s handling of young guys is obvious enough 😉 I hope he changes my views this season though). I find this utterly confusing and disappointing. Isn't the main purpose of Laval to groom the Habs prospects and not field the strongest line up with a bunch of guys that will never play in the NHL? How can this not be disheartening to guys like Mysak and Mesar? It's a recipe to mess with their heads and make them lose faith in the organization. Whisky Tango Foxtrot.

This morning I watched about half the game. It is easy to blame the goalie (and Dobes was certainly not good), but there were a lot of issues. I am not sure if it was nerves or just one of those nights, but Trudeau was an absolute turnover machine. Mailloux was very noticeable, sometimes making bad reads, sometimes creating in the o-zone, sticking up for a mate and dropping the gloves. Struble looked steady and dependable.
I would have to go through the lineup more carefully to say who specifically I would sit, but yeah it seems like a problem if kids like Mysak and Mesar are not going to dress most nights this season.
I don't think the Rocket has a hard time selling tickets, so I am not quite sure what to make of Houle's lineup logic. Maybe I am wrong, but I would believe that management can override his preferences wherever and whenever they want.

After their 7-4 loss last night, there are a few changes to the lineup to rotate some guys in that missed last night, namely Myšák, Davidson and Beaudin. Trudeau who had been good in camp, gets the night off after a pretty forgettable game. Youth! Mann gets the start.

The Rocket needed this goal. On the second penalty of a 5 on 3, Roy sniped a beauty PP goal to narrow the gap to 2-1 late in the second.
Beaudin as the PP QB (he was scratched last night by the way)? Puzzling given they have Mailloux and Norlinder.

And Andersson ties it up with just under 2 to play in the second as he pots the rebound on a shot set up by Struble. His first goal as a Rocket.
Not sure Heineman has returned since going into the boards hard.

A heartbreaking 4-3 loss. Paquette-Bisson had two terrible plays that turned into third period goals. Andersson tied it again at three, but Bisson’s second blunder lead to the go ahead (and GWG) ten seconds later with under two to play. The Rocket did score around the final buzzer but time had expired so the comeback came up short.

Heineman had a bit of a freak accident with an official, colliding behind the net hard. The ref’s knee seemed to come flying up and clip him high. Sounds like a concussion. Yikes. It begins.

The Dach injury was flukey as well. We are certainly experiencing our share of weird injuries.

Wouldn't want Mesar to at least get some ice time in place of this guy who will make all the difference in the SC playoffs. Yeah, you prefer Mesar on the top 6, but move some people around if you have to do that. The guy who is focused on winning has lost 3 games in a row.

Yeah. It doesn't look good when you 2020 second round pick and your 2022 1st round pick are not even dressed in the AHL. We need to hit on those picks.

I understand that a head coach in the AHL wants to win so he might get a shot in the NHL... but the team paying him to develop talent needs to make sure he understands why he is coaching a farm team for an NHL club... to develop the prospects... They need to have some sort of metric whereby if a number of prospects make the big club, he can be moved up as well. There has to be some incentive otherwise all an AHL coach will care about is winning over prospect development.

Another possible injury. Yikes. On the plus side, it gives room for the young forwards to get inserted into the lineup and get some playing time.

Mešár gets into the lineup tonight to make his season debut. Both Bisson and Lindström get a night off. Bisson was rather porous on defense last game, directly leading to two goals against (in a one goal loss no less).

A goalie goal (weird one too) for Laval goalie Strauss Mann. It's 4-3 for Rochester in the 3rd with 15 minutes left... it would be funny if the Rocket win...

I read a write up on the game. Mailloux took a body in OT allowing the puck to go by him and a 2on 1 resulted. Judgment - decisions.

Mailman is playing with his OHL mind, making OHL level decisions.
The trick is to re-educate him on defensive h0ockey while preserving his offensive instincts.
I'm hoping to see him and the rest of our prospects in the new year after I clean up my business.
