Florian pots a couple... the kid has a nose for the net but what impressed me was him moving from the front of the net to along the boards to give a teammate an outlet when they are being covered... smart move.... would be fun to have him and pez on the 4th line On the second goal attempt, he showed a lot of speed. So looking forward for him to develop at the bare minimum a great 4th liner. Heck if this development curve keeps going for a few years, he might even become a top 6. I'm taking strong hopium these days...

Hutson gets an assist on the 1-1 PP goal tonight.
And Tuch makes it 2-1 a bit later.

UMD has only scored 8 goals in its last 7 games, so this is a big relief for Biondi and the Bulldogs.

Make that three goals in two nights (still time for more tonight) from the Deputy Sheriff. Recording this one too, so will watch later. Nice rush on the goal. The kid is starting to get his game going for sure after a pretty “meh” draft season.

Pitlick with another goal tonight (nice hustle and quick hands) in a 3-1 Minnesota win tonight.
Fowler with a 31 save shutout win for BC tonight.

At least Reinbacher is doing okay on a bad team. Hopefully a new coach gets the whole team going.

Some goals from the Finnish duo yesterday, including a rare goal from oft-forgotten defender Nurmi.

Konyushkov took a page out of the “just get it on net” book. This floater from deep back goes in thanks to some nice screens in front. It was the GWG yesterday.

Not a good start for Peterborough this afternoon, spotting their opponents a 5-0 first period lead. In the second, Beck has scored two and Dubois one to make it 5-3 after two.

Beck’s hattrick goal in the third made it 5-4. And the cherry on top was his assist on the eventual OT GWG. Six unanswered to win 6-5. Four points for Beck!

Thanks for all the vids, NWT and for keeping us so informed on our kids. Hughes will have his hands full deciding who stays and who goes in the coming years. Our Cups runneth over.
After that slow start, Beck has put up 11 goals and 8 assists in 17 games and his recent pace has been hot!

Fowler is off to a great start to his NCAA career. He was really good in the USHL last year, so he has not skipped a beat.

Fowler is off to a great start to his NCAA career. He was really good in the USHL last year, so he has not skipped a beat. I like this kid a lot, I like his confidence... I like his positioning. He makes good saves look easier by being in the right spot and not giving the shooter a lot of options. Which reminds me...in the clip we saw about the opinion exchange over Fowler, was it Billy Ryan who was adamant we had to pick Fowler (because he just wins) and maybe Martin Lapointe who was playing Devil's advocate? I wasn't sure if that was staged or not, but Ryan's reactions didn't look staged at all. He would have been furious if we didn't pick Fowler. Assuming, therefore, that Ryan was absolutely convinced Fowler is the real deal, I then ask myself, "was Lapointe making those comments for the camera to show there's no groupthink going on or was he really not on the Fowler bandwagon"? The answer to that adds another ounce to one side of the scale of judgment.

The answer to that adds another ounce to one side of the scale of judgment. It wasn't Lapointe, it was Vincent Riendeau that had another goalie ranked higher above Fowler. Riendeau's argument was that perhaps the other goalie projected to be a better tender than Fowler in the NHL. Ryan's argument was simple: just go look at Fowler's stats and goalie rankings in every league that he has played in since he was a kid.

Goalies progressions are particularly non linear so this next idea is highly speculative, but I wonder who that other goalie was and how are they doing this year?
Thanks for clearing up who the other guy was, frozone. Riendeau, being a former goalie, should be our first line of advice on goalies, no? If he's getting it wrong.....
As I said, very speculative. No action needed now, but file this away for future reference.

Seattle fans are all abuzz about Carfson Rehkopf, their second round pick last draft, who has 44 points in 22 games for the Rangers. I am curious as to how many of those points have come since Mesar joined the team. Is it Rehkopf making a difference for Mesar or vice versa. Or maybe they just work together well, like Beliveau and Cournoyer.

No action needed now, but file this away for future reference. I recall Adam Gajan's name mentioned and I think Billy Ryan had Fowler rated ahead of Gajan, but Gajan had already been picked by the Hawks at #35. It seemed Riendeau did not agree that Fowler was ahead of Gajan. It's hard to compare players without seeing them, and since Gajan is still in the USHL this year, it's more difficult still. The NCAA should be a stronger league than the USHL since the best USHL players usually graduate to NCAA. Gajan has a 3.07 GAA and a .911 save percentage and his won/loss record is 10-4-1. Fowler is 9-2-1 with 2.14 and .926. Better, but in different leagues and I suspect the USHL, being weaker, is a higher scoring league. Like I said, hard to compare. Gajan is or was at least, 1 inch taller at 6' 2". Teams like their goalies big and Fowler is not big by today's goalie standards. A proxy for Fowler may be Devon Levi who is an inch shorter yet at just 6 feet.
