Best thing to do is to sit back and let Sid go with it ... If Shamaham is such a heart and soul guy, why did he invest so much cap into heartless leaders on this team? This is on him because he gave the money to the "Me" guys...

The problems were evident when their "core" came out of their entry level deals. Instead of taking the 8 year deal and helping the team manage the cap, they took 5 year deals knowing it would squeeze the team. Matthews compounds this by renewing for only for 4 years. Nylander isn't much better. He didnt sign his current deal until the RFA deadline on December 1. Sorry, can't remember the year.
They can talk about team unity all they want but it's hollow. When a shell of a player like Reaves is the spokesperson you're in trouble.

The leafs are getting eaten up by the Bolts... the panel on Sportsnet look like they're at a funeral

The leafs are getting eaten up by the Bolts... the panel on Sportsnet look like they're at a funeral Ya, for all of the Hab struggles, it sure warms the heart to see the absolute $%#-show going on at Maple Leaf Square. This roster is actually worse then last years and it's not even close. They brought in the architect who cratered Calgary and it appears they will let Nylander walk who may be their second best player long term. Ryan Reaves for 3 years might go down as one of worst signings in recent times. They extended their coach who has been overmatched in every playoff he's coached in. The Sham-a-plan has 21 playoff wins in 9 seasons. The Passion is more like jock-itch...

Interesting stat

American born Galchenyuk threatening police and their families with Russian mob killings, in a tirade that had about 200 f bombs

Just sad. Not much to say, though I am curious as to when he 'fell into" the drug trap. After one of his knee surgeries? At some point, I hope he sits down for a in-depth interview.

Galchenyuk never really had a chance. And I don’t mean with hockey His sister is an influencer, and hobnobs with the social elite and all that comes with that. Galchenyuk came across to me as always trying to keep up with the Joneses. Russia likely suits him.

I hate the term influencers. Bottom line is they're salesmen, pure and simple. Ask an influencer if they would continue doing what they're doing if they weren't being paid for it and their role will immediately become clear. I always change 'influencer' to 'salesman (or salesperson)' in my head when I see that word. They're selling to people who don't think critically.

On a completely different note, Slafkovsky may soon see some knives come out. Shane Wright was recalled to Seattle and is only 10 points behind Slaf’s career totals. 👀
Hoping this puts a spark in him, cause like it or not, he is going to get constant production comparisons to Shane Wright

And maybe both of them will be compared to Cooley who has 8 points in his 1st 12 NHL games.
But I dont think these comparisons will make a difference. I watch him hoping for a glimmer of something but I'm not seeing it.

Patrik Stefan and Nail Yakupov are widely regarded as the worst 1OA picks in the last 25 years Slafkovskÿ now has 52 games played Patrik Stefan in his first 52 games = 4 goals, 17 assists, 21 points Nail Yakupov in his first 52 games = 17 goals, 14 assists, 31 points Juraj Slafkovskÿ in his first 52 games = 5 goals, 7 assists, 12 points

And on top of that, the Oilers lose to thd Sharks last night. Something has to give now. Woodcroft will probably take the fall but what about Holland?
He's never solved the goaltending issue & has now locked them into a long term contract with Campbell. There's just no excuse for a team with such offensive talent to be bottom feeders.

Some might even posit that the influencer career path has displaced other types of work as a new kind of American dream. Camps that teach skills used for YouTube may include Minecraft modding, video editing, and AI use . . . Many young people interviewed mentioned YouTubers Unspeakable and Mr. Beast as their role models

That's like the guys who can't make a living in the stock market, selling books on how to succeed in the stock market. At some point the idiots or desperate people buying this stuff will find out it follows the sales playbook. Some people will make a lot of money and most won't eke out a living.
I started out in broadcasting because I wanted to be a play by play guy. The reality hits that the pay at levels below national or big regional levels is really bad. So much for that career.

I did my Canadian Senate impression (I had a sober second thought). prolly would have made more at that than I did in this gig though.

I get it that great expectations can prompt management to make changes when things go south. But considering the Oilers have a lame-duck GM, I am not quite sure what the point of firing Woodcroft and hiring a non-interim HC when everything could be in a greater state flux in the summer.
