Patrik Stefan and Nail Yakupov are widely regarded as the worst 1OA picks in the last 25 years Slafkovskÿ now has 52 games played Patrik Stefan in his first 52 games = 4 goals, 17 assists, 21 points Nail Yakupov in his first 52 games = 17 goals, 14 assists, 31 points Juraj Slafkovskÿ in his first 52 games = 5 goals, 7 assists, 12 points Just over 25 years ago, Joe Thornton had worse numbers, though. I see this comparison all over social media. In my opinion, it's a real poor comparison and Slafkovsky is not going to come out looking good on the other side So yes, Joe Thornton had 7 points in his first 55 games. He scored his 12th point in his 68th game. (Slaf has 12 points in 53) But then Thornton got 36 points in his next 68 games. And his career took off Comparing him to Joe Thornton will soon look bad when we start comparing production. Slaf's 68th game is game 29 this year

I get it that great expectations can prompt management to make changes when things go south. But considering the Oilers have a lame-duck GM, I am not quite sure what the point of firing Woodcroft and hiring a non-interim HC when everything could be in a greater state flux in the summer. That's how GMs try to save their jobs... they also want to appease the generational talent

I watched the 1st period last night & saw the Oilers run up a 4-0 lead. I heard they won the game so I was surprised to see the coach fired after a victory.

Knoblauch is a good, young coach. He has a connection with McDavid, but there's merit involved in that hiring too.

Slaf's 68th game is game 29 this year The eye test, forgetting the stats for a while...tells me Slaf is getting better by the game. The points haven't come yet but they should. He made a really high level play late in the 3rd yesterday. He carried the puck in at the Nucks blue line from the RW, cut into the middle, while Dvorak cross with him and broke for the net. Slaf put a pass through two Canuck back checkers, right onto Dvorak's stick when it looked like there was no space and no room for Slaf to make a play. That was a really tough, high level pass, along with the vision to see that kind of play develop. He also took a lot more shots than he has, which is a good thing too. He has to make teams fear his shot (which is pretty good) and that will help open up other parts of his game. Also, he has to work on not having his shot blocked. That happens too often, so either changing angles or timing will fix that.

Didn't think Sportsnet could get worse but they're showing the Bruins vs Sabres and they're using the NESN feed with Jerk Edwards...
Edwards looks like he has snap-on hair

Watching the Vegas/Flyers game. Torts coaching Philly and I can see why his shelf life is short. He demands too much in the way of shot blocking from his team. After a couple of years of pain and suffering, no one wants to do it anymore. The look on some Flyer faces after taking a puck isn't pleasant.

Same game. Frost taps his stick on a Vegas skate , trips him and gets a penalty. Later in game, York beats a Knight to the outside, Knight taps his legs and takes him down. No call. Supposedly better teams always get the benefit.

Flyers win 4-3 on a Vegas turnover in OT. Being reviewed for some strange reason. Good goal (duh).
Break up the Flyers!!

To me it looks like Petgrave's left skate came in contact with the cutting opponent's right skate, and he lifted his leg to catch his balance and totally lost his balance. I still think it was accidental. Not sure how'd they'd ever show intent. I'm also not sure how they could prove motive and how this guy planned for exact fluke event to happen. Unless you are in the camp he was going to blatantly karate kick him at some point in the game where he wasn't accident tripped/clipped

I can't see a murder charge but maybe manslaughter or maybe nothing... unfortunately the video is not great to see the contact between the 2 players before the skate came up

First thing i checked was the background. Turns out Mr Cut Throat is a goon. Check his penalty minutes.
In all my life i have NEVER seen a skate come up that high. It's simply unnatural and in no way serves as a "balance" move. Actually i don't remember that move in ANY sport.
If I'm on the jury, it's manslaughter.

Never seen a skate come up like that …
I’ve lost my balance on skates more times than I can count. My skates have come up pretty high too. Petgrave’s left skate clips the right skate of the defender (you can see the wobble in defenders skate as he passes). I may have phrased my above statement poorly. But he tries to lift the left skate just as he clips the defenders skate.
There’s no one going to convince me that at that very moment he was suppose to A) be in total control of his body with one skate in the air B) had the wherewithal to contemplate kicking an opponent

To extend that, Dis, it looks like another year where EVERYTHING is going great for Boston. Their game vs Florida is tied 1-1. John Beecher, who I have described as a likely decent 4th line center, has Bobrovsky at his mercy, cutting across the front of the net. He shows the panic threshold of a David Pastrnak, and outwaits Bobrovsky who is stretched as far as he can be, but there’s a huge gap for Beecher to slide the puck in. Beecher then proves my opinion of him by missing the net completely and the puck is going to slide between th goalie and the net and out the other side. It would have done this if a Panther dman, frantically trying to block the net, didn't push the puck into the net himself.
And Boston fans think its all about talent. When they run out of horseshoes, it should be a fun time.

Detroit seems to have Boston’s number. Beat them 5-2 today, in Boston. Jack Edwards sounded depressed when signing off. Enjoy the weekend, Jack. If I’m playing Boston I check out very thoroughly what the Wings did to frustrate the Bruins. Maybe nothing. Maybe Boston’s worn out from playing so hard the first 19 games of the year.

Rangers skin the Bruins, 7-4. The last 2 games, Boston’s goaltending has been more haunted than vaunted.
That flump sound you hear is all the Bruins fans hopes crashing to earth.

$5K for this? He should sit for a long time. Player safety my arse. This is more deliberate than the Perezhogin hit that cost him a suspension till the end of the season (which was a hit to the head as well, but he couldn't know that the opponent was on one knee beforehand)
