I was reading a tweet relating a story about Alexander Mogilny and Mike Keenan (an extreme old style coach as most know). Keenan was tearing into Mogilny one game between periods and Mogilny looked up and said. "You know my story don't you? When I defected, I was threatened, my family was threatened, they tried everything. Do you really think you can scare me?" Keenan ended up speechless. I had never heard that story before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mogilny rose in my respect list. The moral of the story these days is that coaches who yell and scream aren't your solution. That's a cool story... |

Wow, does Marner ever have a high opinion of himself. Gods? We're great players? Really? News flash Marner - most fans look at you as underachiving, self centred losers.
Has he ever considered the possibility that Toronto may not want him back? And what is long term to Marner? 4 years?

Loafs hire Berube... let the cup parade planning start. Is this the 3rd coach for the core 4? Berube came in as interim coach and rode Binnington to a Cup in his 1st year with the team. Binnington levelled off and they didnt come close again. |

If I'm a Flyer fan this is concerning. They had issues with Gauthier and now this. Did they not meet Michkov before drafting him and get a sense of his plans? That quote sounds like Briere is not optimistic. Does he trade the rights to Michkov? Will teams take a chance? |

Loafs hire Berube... let the cup parade planning start. I was watching TSN & Brian Hayes was talking about this. It wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Sounded like he preferred Cooper or Brind'Amour but they're not leaving their teams. He starts talking about Berube & says well, he has won "recently". As a fan of a team that hasn't won anything for a long time I can say that 5 years is not recent. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see berube go after tavares and marner right off the bat... they need to waive their nmc Leafs have 18.5 in cap space but have 12 ufa/rfa players... some wont be back but not a lot of cap room for that many players |

My source being speculation heard on Toronto sports' media, as Keefe's firing was imminent. I always tune in for a bit of Leaf postmortem coverage. |

And, as we always say, “Show me a good goalie and I’ll show you a good coach”. That is an axiom, except in the case of Price/Therrien. Binnington got hot and Berube became a good coach. He may well be. A lot of tough people/players became good coaches. Toe Blake, Pat Burns. Mostly i think it involves understanding human nature and how to manipulate it. |

Boucher was the man in charge of the PP in Toronto. He had a lot more to work with with the Laffs but might he be a good addition to our staff? Gotta be an improvement on Burrows.
He left TO after he wasn't considered for the Laffs top job, or was and didn't get it..
Would he be okay being second fiddle to MSL? Could he take orders from a guy he used to coach? He would definitely bring experience.

I wonder if Boucher would be willing to follow the Dan Bylsma career plan and head down to the AHL for a couple of seasons. Our prospects developed quite well and were in a winning environment back when Boucher coached to Bulldogs. If he proves himself, it could be his path back to the NHL.

If there's nothing else available it might 'appeal' to him. Most often, coaches who have been in the NHL, especially in a head coaching capacity at some point, are reluctant to take a step back into the minors.
