Is this a record -- the Kings are 10-0-0 on the road. I will be surprised if the Habs do not get humbled tomorrow. I wonder with Montembeault now signed if St. Louis rides the hot hand or if the extreme rotation approach continues.

I wonder with Montembeault now signed if St. Louis rides the hot hand or if the extreme rotation approach continues. It wouldn't surprise me if it is. The only other insane start that I can remember was when the Hawks went something like 20-0-4 to start a season during their recent hayday.

According to the NHL Network, Montembeault will start. And the only change among the 18 skaters who played in the win against Seattle appears to be Pezzetta for Armia.
The Kings size, skill and depth down the middle is truly impressive. I wonder about their goalies in the playoffs, but no one would be thrilled to slug it for seven games with a team built like Los Angeles.

Yeah, I think the goaltending could be a real flaw in the Kings. Another note, especially in contrast to Montreal is that of the top 17 point getters on the team (basically their whole team) they have missed a total of 10 games. That's 10 games the entire season (22 games so far. 17 x 22 = 484. So the team has a 2% injury index, if I can call it that. That makes it really easy for their coaches. Set lines, set defense pairings, tons of familiarity. An exclamation point to this whole health thing is that the top 13 scorers have missed 3 games total. How will they look if Doughty goes down, or Danault, or Kopizar? What if 1 goalie gets hurt and the other guy has to take on the whole load? A couple of years ago, Calgary had excellent health and ended up flaming out in the playoffs, where injuries tend to happen.
Then there's us and we get crucified by the Hockey Gods.

They might have been in Fredericton then? I DMd Dis about it, the moved to Fredricton in 1990... I think it should be 86-87 Sherbrooke maybe? Thanks for the heads-up, fellas ... I fixed it just as soon as I got Willie's PM ... I'll have to proofread the GDT a tad closer ... thanks, again ... Cheers.

Habs competing hard and looking pretty good so far. Kovacevic got caught out of position standing up a Kings player at the blue line leading to the 2-1 and goal against. Slaf looking strong again with his board play and overall offensive awareness.

How is that only 2 minutes for a blatant check to the head on Barron from Doughty?

Thought boys were better team until it was 3-0 and then boys just gave up.
Slaf with another strong game. Agian the best forward on his line - he is a force and he's only 19.
Guhle looking real tired.
Best news of the night: boy am i glad we didn't sign Dubois. Looked like a Dvo clone out there.

Another strong game from Slaf. Just a matter of time before the points start coming. Didn't watch the game but based on that I'll say Slaf played a great game, unfortunately the guys he passed to had no finish... if Slaf played like this last year, that 1st line would have been racking up points like crazy but it seems Cole and Suze are snakebit

A team's fortunes are so easily determined by luck. The Kings have had almost no injuries this year. The Bruins? Let me describe two of their recent goals. In one, they made a nice passing play against Florida and the puck came to one side of the crease, Bobrovski flat on his stomach swimming on the ice in front of the crease and Beecher has a wide open net to tap the puck in. But..being a 3-4 th liner, he misses. He shoots the puck between the net and Bobrovsky and it's going out the other side. But....a Panther defenseman, also on the ice having lost his balance, struggles to get in front to block any shots and he pushes the puck into the net. Pure luck. Lack of talent turns into a goal.
Last night against Buffalo, Marchand scored when a shot from the right point misses the net. Devon Levi slides from his left to his right because according to all the laws of physics, the puck is coming out that side. But Boston defies the laws of Physics. The pick hits something that had to be sticking out from the boards or glass and instead comes out the same side it was shot from. Marchand is there with an empty net. Fortunately, Buffalo beat them anyway. I saw this stuff on a massively consistent basis last year for Boston. Bounces always going Boston's way. Eventually that changes, and it will for the Kings as well. Someone will get hurt, they'll have to move players up into positions they're not capable of handling and they'll start losing.
The one thing I was pleased about last night was that Danault didn't get any points. I was blacked out here, but am glad to hear that Slaf had another good game. This year is all about the kids getting better and the vets impressing enough to attract buyers at the TDL. A bottom 5 pick would be another victory for me. Next year, I will have had enough of losing and accumulating. Time to start beating up on people....next year.
PS. Just looked at the above clip and Slaf sure set up some people for great chances. Pearson especially. Anothehr part I liked was Slaf winning a board battle against Doughty. That isn't easy. Very impressive.

The NHL has had 19 year old play in it before. Juraj Slafkovsky’s 7 points this year currently rank 421st all time by 19 year old players Another thing I am hearing a lot is “the points will come”. And a lot of those comments are from people who jumped all over Kotkaniemi, who didn’t get 1st line minutes or PP minutes while producing more in his 18 yr old season than Juraj. In KK’s 19 yr old season he got 8 points in 36 games and took more criticism for not producing than any draft pick we’ve had in about 2 decades I’m glad the narrative has switched with Juraj, though. People like the Joe Thornton comparison and how it took him some time. It was around Thornton’s 83rd game of his career where his production increased dramatically . He got 32 points in his last 53 games of his sophomore season. Here’s hoping. 🤞

A team's fortunes are so easily determined by luck. The Kings have had almost no injuries this year. There's definitely an element of luck when it comes to injuries and there's also overall durability of players on a roster. I feel like the Habs have an above average number of players that would be considered injury-prone, whereas a player like Kopitar is in his 17th season and has missed a grand total of 21 games in his career.
