I'm not sure what Matheson has to do with Suzuki never looking to shoot, Dach never looking to shoot, Slaf never looking to shoot ... the forwards are trying to make the pretty pass instead of just shooting when they have that chance. Even Hutson is looking pass first. Makes a goalies life awful easy when he knows you are not shooting That’s why Cranky and I want Xhekaj out there ( today won’t work of course) because he has that 100+ mph bomb that hurts when it’s blocked. It might discourage a few forward from blocks and if it doesn’t, increases their injury chances. Gotta shoot at some point. Not just shoot. You have to shoot and hit the net. Xhekaj is not the answer. They had 8 PPs tonight and 5 shots on net. That’s not the point man’s fault , ever |

Berube was dressing a total B team with tonnes of scrubs and never will be NHLers. I don't blame him. As a hockey player, Pare should be ashamed of himself. But obviously he is a coward POS.
Remember when Perry accidentally (or not) skated into Tavares' head in round 1 in 2021, he was a proud warrior who understood that Simmonds was not going away and a fight was the only way to settle the business at hand. The fight took place, as it had to. This Pare weasel is not 1 percent of the warrior of Perry or Simmonds. To not take in the moment and realize the magnitude of what he did and thus unabashedly agree to throw down no matter the consequences simply shows he is a total POS loser.

CC wrist shot depends on accuracy because it wouldn't break a champagne glass from the top of the circle.
Amazing level of stupid playing Ferrel instead of Mailman on the second power play unit.

Hutson is playing perimeter defense and his jitterbug is not surprising anyone anymore. He's avoiding contact in the corners and that won't get a pass in the NHL.
Our PP drove me nuts. How uber stupid is Marty to put Farrel instead of Mailman on the second PP unit? That's so obvious and so egregious that it should be a firing offense. Even MtHead would see that.
How hard is it to see that we got skating and passing queens that are pure perimeter players on the PP? Will it will take 3 YEARS to see it and change set ups? 5 YEARS? How long?
Terrible, horrible, ridiculous coaching and bad luck.
With Laine gone for at least 3 months and this level of coaching, start tracking juniors for ANOTHER bottom five finish.

I know we are short handed, but good god ... if this is our PP against nobodies, and this is our offense against nobodies, then we will be selecting another top 3 pick Plus the goalie, Hildeby, is 23 & never played in the NHL. Never heard of him and he stops 26/27 against our top 2 lines... sigh |

If Laine is out long-term, I think we're in for a 2023-24 reboot. From what I've seen online, his acquisition got fans and some pundits expecting a run at a WC berth--if the top guys could stay healthy.
Could still happen but...a real downer...and beyond frustrating for Laine.

Everybody knew Pare wont fight so X needs to be reminded that he has a 107mph shot. USE IT.
If I'm X, Pare is my "accidental" target. No head shot but that wrist or ankle is going to be tested. Repeatedly.
This is also an opportunity for any and many of our forwards to board him or elbow...accidentally.
What happened last night is not a lesson to fear us. It was a lesson that you can hurt us and just turtle, you will get rewarded with a penalty. We need to be a lot more loose screw about our retaliation. They need to fear that we will exact revenge any time, all the time...
OR...be prepared to lose Hutson and more.

A day later and I'm still pissed off..
Lousy power play mostly through lousy coaching
Lost Laine
No team wide toughness
No fire and desire in the team
I don't see this as "just preseason", i see this as ingrained attitude, coaching and personel. Nothing that can be tweaked in a few games.
I was looking forward to this season with so much hope...and now feel stupid to think we turned the corner.
